Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

The woman standing at the window nodded vigorously, speaking quickly, ”Yes, yes. Actually, aside from traveling this time, I also want to check out the atmosphere of the internet industry in the United States.”

Mark’s face remained expressionless, ”Please tell me your impression of the United States.”

Zhou Meng replied without hesitation, ”I really like the United States. I think the United States is a country that is technologically advanced, teeming with talent, and has an innovative environment.”

”What’s your impression of the workplace environment in the United States?”

”Workplace impression? Well, I think the workplace environment in the United States is very mature. I understand that American companies strictly enforce an 8-hour workday, emphasize work-life separation, and even interns have a voice. This is really admirable.”

Mark still showed no expression as he continued to browse through the documents, ”I notice that your salary level is quite good, so what do you think is the development opportunity for your industry in the United States compared to your home country?”

The woman named Zhou Meng said, ”I believe there are many development opportunities in the United States. The United States is the best country for an innovative environment in the global internet industry.”

Li Younan heard someone behind him whisper, ”That woman definitely won’t pass the visa interview.”

Li Younan curiously turned his head to see it was a middle-aged uncle.

The uncle’s judgment matched his own thinking.

Not long after, the woman’s interview was over.

Sure enough, the visa officer named Mark shook his head, ”I’m sorry, your current situation does not meet the requirements for a temporary visit, so we’ll have to reject the visa this time.”

Zhou Meng was visibly taken aback, ”Why is this? I just want to travel to the United States.”

Mark displayed a professional smile, ”I’m sorry, your interview is over... Next applicant, please.”

”But...”

”Ma’am, your interview is over.”

The woman stood up to leave, her steps slightly heavy.

She really wanted to question the visa officer, but the words got stuck in her throat because she felt that if her attitude wasn’t good, she might have even less of a chance in the future.

Mumbling to herself, ”I praised the United States so much, so why?”

The next interview was for Li Younan.

As soon as Li Younan sat down, the other party also started looking through Li Younan’s documents, flipping through them for a while before asking: ”Hello, Mr. Li. First, I need to confirm your purpose for going to the United States. The documents show you’re applying for a tourist visa, planning to stay for 90 days?”

Li Younan nodded, ”Yes.”

Mark lightly furrowed his brows, ”Why do you need such a long period of time?”

Li Younan shrugged nonchalantly, ”The United States is quite large, if the time is too short, I won’t be able to visit many places.”

”Are you planning to visit many places in the United States? Do you have a specific travel plan?”

Li Younan replied candidly, ”Currently, no.”

U.S. travel visa applications do not require providing a complete travel plan, so Li Younan just roughly filled in a destination city, Los Angeles, and chose ”No” for the optional detailed travel plan.

In fact, hearing this, Mark slightly furrowed his brows.

Visa officers dislike vague answers without specific plans, as such responses make them skeptical about the authenticity of the travel purpose.

But when he saw in Li Younan’s file that he was a travel blogger, his eyes flickered, also noting that Li Younan had over ten million followers worldwide...

He looked up again and asked, ”Why do you want to travel to the United States? What attracts you about America?”

Li Younan hesitated for a moment.

Just then, Mark said seriously, ”Sir, please be sure to speak truthfully.”

Only then did Li Younan say, ”I feel that the United States is declining, although the probability is small, who can say for sure... If someday, the United States breaks into over 50 small countries, like California becomes independent or Dezhou becomes independent, and I haven’t been to the United States yet, when I think about it, it would be somewhat regrettable.”

Hearing Li Younan’s response, the woman stopped in her tracks, with a somewhat perplexed expression, turning to look at Li Younan.

What? Is there a mistake, criticising the officer’s country right in front of him?

Could one still pass the interview like this?

”Moreover, the NBA is getting less interesting. While the stars that accompanied my growth are still playing, I still feel passionate about it, and I’d like to see it... Those are mainly the reasons.”

Mark was taken aback, blinking his eyes, ”You think America is terrible?”

Li Younan shook his head, ”Not really terrible, after all, it is still the most powerful country in the world with many places worthy of experience, but who can say for sure?”

”I want to go to America to broaden my horizons. I’ve also heard that Philadelphia is the city of zombies, Florida has many strange people, America has over a hundred genders... I don’t know if this information is true, I’m very curious, and I really want to see it myself. Oh, and... I’m a travel blogger, I can shoot a lot of useful materials there, uh, this doesn’t violate the purpose of my visa.”

The corner of Zhou Meng’s mouth slightly twitched... Isn’t it inappropriate to speak about other people’s country like this when you want to go visit it? Can one still pass the visa like this?

Mark shook his head, showing no anger at all, then picked up the stamp and happily stamped ”Approved,” saying, ”Sir, congratulations on passing your visa interview, wish you a pleasant travel in the United States.”

The expression on the woman named Zhou Meng immediately froze, stunned for a moment.

What? What’s going on? Why could he pass instead?

Li Younan turned around just in time to see the woman’s gaze, largely able to guess what she was thinking, but he just smiled without explaining.

The woman actually misunderstood one crucial point about the visa system, which is mainly to prevent illegal residency.

Thus, any factor that might lead the interviewer to think you might stay in the United States should be avoided.

The woman kept praising the United States, thinking it might earn the interviewer’s favor, but actually, the opposite party doesn’t care about your opinion of America.

Instead, excessive praise might make the interviewer think you have immigration tendencies.

Of course, praising or criticizing the United States is not the essence of the issue.

The interviewer also asked the woman about her work.

Seeing the woman’s high salary meant she had certain capabilities within her industry, which provided her with opportunities to immigrate to America.

With the skill requirements for immigration, wouldn’t people pay more attention to your purpose?

At this time, when asked about her view of the U.S. workplace, the woman said the U.S. environment was better than China’s, wasn’t this leading herself astray?

Regardless of whether the woman truly wanted to stay in America, such an answer would lead the interviewer to make judgments in this regard.

And having a visa rejection record would make future interview attempts more difficult.

...

After leaving, Li Younan focused on packing his things, preparing to set off to the United States.

He believed this trip would surely not disappoint him.
