Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

The entire ship can be remodeled for living, leisure, and entertainment, with an estimated area of about 300 square meters.

Moreover, Li Younan also noticed that the transformation doesn’t require much change to the main structure, just optimization of the internal space.

There are two laboratories on the ship; the wet lab can be directly converted into an open kitchen and dining area, while the dry lab can be transformed into a photography studio and storage room.

The crew’s quarters can be completely renovated into 10 guest rooms with private baths, giving everyone on board a private space.

Li Younan silently contemplated these ideas in his mind.

At this moment, seeing Li Younan’s thoughtful expression, Chen Tiefeng continued, ”Teacher Li, if you want to buy this ship, I’ve served on it for over 10 years, involved in every maintenance and repair, and I have complete hull material inspection reports and structural stress test data.”

”Moreover, I know all of this ship’s hidden advantages, like pre-installed scientific equipment interfaces which can be converted into dive gear storage; for example, I was also fully involved in the layout of the drainage system.”

”I can also coordinate with my former colleagues to provide some original spare parts, completely solving the problem of finding parts for this old ship.”

He then confidently said, ”As for the minor faults you mentioned in the previous evaluation, let me put it this way, as long as I’m on this ship, no matter how good the chief engineer is, they can’t be faster or more steady than me!”

Li Younan stood on the deck, silently gazing at other ships docked in the harbor.

A private yacht was not far away.

How to put it, that private yacht looked glamorous and much newer than the ship he was aboard, but it always gave the impression of being outwardly splendid yet lacking substance.

Like something made of paper.

He was indeed slightly tempted.

Li Younan thought for a moment and suddenly asked, ”Is there currently anyone making a bid?”

Chen Tiefeng immediately replied, ”No one has made a bid yet.”

In reality, converting a research vessel into a yacht isn’t an easy task.

A pair of influencers bought a research ship and traveled around the world, but what Li Younan was planning was significantly different; they didn’t change the ship’s nature, still using it for its research purposes during travel.

What Li Younan wanted was to fully convert this ship into a yacht in the legal sense.

This means that the type of vessel must be changed.

Therefore, it requires submitting complete technical data and conversion plans to the maritime authorities, confirming that it meets the legal technical standards for yachts, and the vessel inspection and certification must be redone.

Once the type and purpose of the vessel are changed, it becomes a non-commercial vessel limited to the yacht owner’s personal sightseeing and entertainment activities.

The maximum crew on a private yacht cannot exceed 12 people, otherwise, it becomes a passenger ship.

So if it is confirmed to purchase this ship, the first step is to organize complete technical data and design conversion plans.

With Chen Tiefeng’s help and the provisions from the ship’s original owner, complete technical data isn’t a big issue.

However, the conversion plans will be more troublesome, but fortunately with Gao Tiande’s help, a professional team will assist with this, so it won’t be completely without clues.

Li Younan digested this information silently in his heart and then asked, ”What is the current valuation of this ship?”

Chen Tiefeng hesitated for a moment and said, ”6 million.”

Li Younan silently calculated in his mind, and this price was actually not expensive.

According to relevant regulations, the transfer price for this state-owned asset ship must not be less than 90% of the valuation.

However, buying the ship at this price is just the first step; completing all conversions and processes will cost at least three or four times this amount.

Meaning that Li Younan needs to plan for at least 30 million to obtain a navigable private yacht.

But it doesn’t really matter.

He had previously budgeted 50 million for this.

As long as you start doing something, no matter how clueless or chaotic it feels, by taking it step by step, you can accomplish it; this is also Li Younan’s life credo.

In the world of trades, the first step is to get started.

After thoroughly inspecting the ship inside and out with Chen Tiefeng, Li Younan received the reports that he was particularly concerned with from him.

It must be said, Chen Tiefeng made quite an effort to dispel Younan’s concerns.

And undeniably, he was well aware that if Li Younan indeed decided to buy this ship, he would undoubtedly remain the chief engineer of this vessel.

Going from being the chief engineer of a research vessel to a civil yacht may seem like a demotion in status, but the work attributes have changed, bringing him more anticipation in navigation.

After carefully reviewing all the materials, Li Younan had already made up his mind.

Of course, unlike cars, completing all the procedures for property transfer is a very time-consuming task.

In ordinary civil ships, it’s relatively simpler, but since this is a decommissioned state-owned research vessel, the entire property transfer process takes 1 to 3 months.

Fortunately, now Li Younan can use his resources to buy time.

He reached out to his future brother-in-law, Liu Yu, asking him to arrange a lawyer to help expedite this process.
