Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

This way, a lot of time can be saved.

Li Younan picked up his phone and opened the Earth Simulator app, swiping randomly with a somewhat absent-minded expression. Suddenly, his expression became firm, and he swiped the earth on the phone screen around in a circle—there opposite of where China is located on the globe, the United States!

Over the years, overall, the relationship between China and the United States has been getting worse.

With the powerful rise of the motherland, coupled with the rise of short videos and self-media, more and more people have seen the bad side of this strong country through the eyes of others, and the discussions about the United States online have become diverse and complex.

However, aside from all emotionally driven evaluations, for Li Younan, this country is still the most attractive among all foreign countries.

No matter what, the United States is still the recognized global superpower.

Being born in the second most powerful country in the world, how could one not be curious about the country on the other side of the globe that is so vastly different from one’s own motherland in terms of culture, political system, governance methods, and so on?

In many aspects, the United States is almost the antonym of China.

China has a long-standing, ancient cultural heritage, whereas the opposing United States is an unprecedented cultural melting pot; China values harmony and collectivism, while the United States advocates individuality first and heroism; China’s history is long, the United States was founded only a few hundred years ago.

But despite so many differences, both countries are equally powerful.

Li Younan’s attitude could probably be summed up as: ”I have to see for myself what this country is all about, why we are ranked alongside them as G2.”

Of course, Li Younan hasn’t never been abroad; after all, he participated in the ”Alone in the Wilderness” program in Canada for a few months previously.

But last time, he spent most of the time in the wilderness, with very little time in culturally rich areas, generally just a quick look around.

This time, before all the paperwork is completed for the yacht, Li Younan plans to deeply and immersively tour the United States.

Compared to going to some visa-free countries or other countries with faster visa processes, going to the United States requires longer preparation time because Li Younan doesn’t have expedited conditions, needing about two weeks for visa processing.

Fortunately, this is not Li Younan’s first time going to the United States, so he’s quite experienced, smoothly passed the document review, and successfully booked the earliest available interview.

Li Younan plans to make Los Angeles, the City of Angels, his first stop.

There’s no way around it, this city is the most familiar American city to Li Younan, and most of his impressions of the United States are inseparable from this city.

In a way, this city almost has most of the identity tags of the United States, such as immigrant culture, Hollywood movies, and the NBA.

Exactly, one important reason for choosing Los Angeles first is the NBA.

As someone who has played basketball for so many years, Li Younan thought about it long ago, that he must, in his lifetime, watch an NBA game.

Especially since NBA games are getting less exciting now, it’s best to watch before completely losing interest in it.

When a place gathers more than 200 of the world’s best basketball players, it holds the same allure for any basketball-playing boy in the world.

And Los Angeles has two NBA teams, along with the soon-to-retire Old LeBron.

Although Li Younan has never been a fan of LeBron, ever since he started playing and watching basketball, this old guy has been there, outlasting waves of stars.

However, he’s still a part of Li Younan’s youth, and seeing him live before he retires is like fulfilling a youthful dream.

Of course, the expectations for Los Angeles extend beyond just that.

Abroad and at home, the laws are quite different; in that place, you can legally experience firearms.

Li Younan has never had military experience and has never touched a real gun, and military weapons have a deadly appeal to a man.

Whether it’s heaven or hell, from a traveler’s standpoint, it’s all alluring.

The meaning of travel is not to validate but to gain knowledge.

Thinking of these things, Li Younan couldn’t help but feel a bit excited.

...

Soon, the day of the visa interview arrived.

The interview was conducted in the visa hall, and the overall layout was similar to a bank lobby.

There were many windows lined up in a row, with each window being an independent interview unit.

The whole environment was completely open.

Here you could see the interactions between other applicants and the visa officers.

Li Younan watched other people’s visa interviews with keen interest.

Before this, Li Younan had only been abroad once, and because it was so long ago, although he had applied for a visa at that time, his mindset was completely different, so he didn’t pay attention to other people’s interviews.

And now, at this moment, for him, this interview hall was also a travel destination worth experiencing.

The entire hall was very quiet, making the conversation between the applicant who was being interviewed in front and the interviewer clearly audible.

The visa officer named Mark pushed his glasses up and seriously reviewed the information on the documents, then looked up and said: ”Ms. Zhou Meng, first of all, I need to confirm your purpose of travel... The documents show you’re applying for a tourist visa, planning to stay for 15 days?”
