Chaotic Sword God

“That strike was actually on par with a First Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt! This is unimaginable. A Sixth Heavenly Layer Immortal Emperor actually possesses such unbelievable battle prowess,” the old woman from the Ghost Immortal cult said in shock.

To the people present, this was already an extraordinary feat, but to Jian Chen, it was slightly disappointing.

The power of five superimpositions still paled in comparison to the Shadowless Lifetaking Strike slightly.

“You are indeed a prodigy. Coupled with your connection to the daughter of the heavenly emperor, our Ghost Immortal cult would try and avoid offending someone like you usually. However, we need to recover the Three Lives Reincarnation Fruit.” The old woman composed herself very quickly and struck once again. She shone with brilliant light, slashing towards Jian Chen from afar like a sword.

With that slash, the world shook, and the surrounding space twisted violently. If it were not for the powerful formations that protected the Skyscraping World, the place probably would have been split into two.

At the same time, Jian Chen suddenly struck out with the Heaven-lifting sword. Against an expert that even a Second Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt like Zhou Yunzhuang feared significantly, he did not dare to be careless at all. He directly used the Shadowless Lifetaking Strike.

The Shadowless Lifetaking Strike bypassed all of the old woman’s defences and arrived as soon as it was unleashed, erupting as a powerful strand of sword Qi in the old woman’s body and making her shudder.

“Dammit! What is this technique?” the old woman cried out as her expression changed drastically. She was filled with shock.

But that was it. Jian Chen’s Shadowless Lifetaking Strike did not seem to injure her at all.

On the other side, Jian Chen was launched away by the old woman’s sword Qi with a rumble. His body surged as his organs ruptured.

But in the next moment, he rapidly healed from all of his injuries, making a full recovery in a very short time.

At this moment, he seemed to sense something. The way he looked at the old woman changed drastically. There was great seriousness.

Even when he faced the Fourth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, the Profound Spirit Master, or even the Space-purging Ancestor from the Daoist Sect of Heavenly Embodiment, Jian Chen had not reacted like this.

That was because both the Profound Spirit Master and the Space-purging Ancestor would not be able to withstand a single blow from the Divine Formation of the Heavens.

But when he faced the Second Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt old woman, he was stern for once.

“She’s actually hiding a tremendous power inside her body. This power completely surpasses the Profound Spirit Master!” Jian Chen was astounded.

“Yang Yutian, looks like you’ve sensed something. You better hand over the Three Lives Reincarnation Fruit obediently. I won’t make things difficult for you.” The old woman from the Ghost Immortal cult did not continue with any attacks. Instead, she tried to persuade him again. Her eyes were filled with deep surprise. She completely refused to believe the person before her was actually a mid Immortal Emperor. His various extraordinary powers left her dumbfounded.

Jian Chen’s heart skipped a beat. He studied the surroundings without attracting any attention. At this moment, he could clearly sense that the spiritual Qi in the surroundings had become rather abnormal, but he was unable to find exactly how it was abnormal. He could not sense anything even with the senses of his soul.

“Something is off!” Jian Chen immediately shut his eyes and began using the Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s secret technique, using the spiritual Qi as his eyes to sense everything around him.

Due to the special environment created by all the formations in the Skyscraping World, even Immortal Exalts would have many of their abilities limited.

Meanwhile, Jian Chen could bypass some of these limitations through the secret technique that the Skyscraping Sword Venerable had taught him.

As a result, under this state, Jian Chen discovered blood-red threads penetrating deep into the ground from under the old woman’s feet. They spread out in all directions like a web, silently setting up some kind of formation.

Jian Chen just happened to be located in the centre of the formation.

Jian Chen’s heart immediately sank slightly with this discovery. He could sense that this formation was anything but simple. If the formation was completed, then he would be forced to use the Divine Formation of the Heavens.

“Yang Yutian, I owe a favour to the Heavenly Star Palace, so for Xing Caijian’s sake, I really don’t want to make things difficult for you… Hmm?” The old woman from the Ghost Immortal cult continued to try and persuade Jian Chen, but her face suddenly sank before she could finish what she was saying.

Jian Chen had already vanished silently, returning to the same state as before. Even with her powerful senses as an Immortal Exalt, she could not find any trace of him.

Jian Chen had already activated the Divine Armour of Heavenflight, hiding himself perfectly.

With his current strength, even some Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts would struggle to find him under the cover of the Divine Armour of Heavenflight and the mask from the Illusionary Daemon race, let alone early Immortal Exalts.

“Dammit. Don’t think about leaving here with the Three Lives Reincarnation Fruit.” The old woman from the Ghost Immortal cult immediately panicked. She thought of the rumours regarding the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing from before. If Jian Chen wanted to hide, even several dozen Immortal Exalts could not capture him if they did not find him immediately.

The old woman’s heart rose up to her throat. She gritted her teeth and stomped down without any hesitation. A rumble rang out from the bedrock and red mist sprayed into the air, immediately enveloping the area.

A chilling presence radiated from the demonic and eerie red mist. When it came into contact with Zhou Yunzhuang and the two other Immortal Exalts, the red mist actually melted away their protective energy silently, sticking to their bodies.

Shortly afterwards, their bodies began to erode away at a visible rate, making them grit their teeth.

“What a pity. Time was tight, which prevented me from completing the formation. Otherwise, I would have been able to seal up this space. You would have never gotten away. However, while the formation is incomplete, it’s more than enough to locate you.” The old woman ground her teeth. Suddenly, she looked behind her and struck out without any hesitation. Surging energy erupted, directly shooting towards a certain region near the edge of the red mist.

Boom!

A rumble rang out from the air as a blood-red figure fell out of the space there. It was Jian Chen clad in the Divine Armour of Heavenflight.

But at this moment, the red mist was like glue, sticking firmly to the Divine Armour of Heavenflight like a layer of thick blood. It turned Jian Chen completely red.

He forcefully swallowed the blood that had surged up into his throat, disregarding the blood-red energy sticking to the Divine Armour of Heavenflight and activating its concealment ability again. He vanished from the space there once again and rapidly flew into the distance.

A tremendous power was lurking inside the old woman’s body. To be safe, Jian Chen did not want any meaningless conflict against her.

“You can’t escape. Yang Yutian, leave behind the Three Lives Reincarnation Fruit, or I’ll never spare you,” the old woman roared furiously. She surged with energy as her tremendous cultivation as a Second Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt shook up the surroundings. The presence of danger she gave off even gave chills to Zhou Yunzhuang who was also a Second Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt.
