Chaotic Sword God

After considering his options, Jian Chen still ended up deciding to gamble.

He did not make this decision out of recklessness. After all, he knew that not a lot of Immortal Exalt experts had entered the Skyscraping World. Basically all of them were early Immortal Exalts, with an extremely small number of mid Immortal Exalts.

Meanwhile, he had the Divine Formation of the Heavens. Even if he fought against mid Immortal Exalts, Jian Chen was confident about stealing it under their noses.

Jian Chen sat with his legs crossed near the sword pool. He stared straight at the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing that grew in the centre of the sword pool as God Tier heavenly resources appeared one after another in his hand.

He had obtained all of these heavenly resources from the Immortal Sect of Colossal Elephants. Now, in order to accelerate the growth of the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing, he did not hold back at all. He turned all of these God Tier heavenly resources into fertiliser to accelerate the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing’s evolution.

Despite the tremendous waste, Jian Chen felt that it was worth it no matter how great the cost was if he could provide the sword spirits with a higher quality Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing.

As he cast the God Tier heavenly resources into the sword pool, they turned into a swathe of energy that entered the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing under the effects of the sword pool.

Seated by the sword pool, Jian Chen could sense very clearly that the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing’s growth rate had increased substantially.

“I’ll have to guard this place for three years. Perhaps I’ll have to kill whoever I encounter during these three years.” There was a hint of viciousness in Jian Chen’s eyes. He could not let anything to happen to the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing.

“Master, we have a piece of bad news for you.” At this moment, the sword spirits’ voices rang out in Jian Chen’s head. It was rather grim.

Jian Chen frowned when he heard that. He asked, “What’s the matter?”

“Master, according to our original estimates, we only needed three years before the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing increased in grade successfully with the resources master possesses, but with our observations now, we’ve discovered that the grade of the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing is even greater than we imagined. The higher the grade, the more resources it needs when growing.”

“As a result, as it seems right now, the resources on master are no longer sufficient for the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing’s evolution.”

“The Primeval Divine Hall has millions of heavenly resources. Even they’re not enough to accelerate the growth of this one Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing?” Jian Chen asked in surprise.

“Master, there are a lot of heavenly resources in the Primeval Divine Hall but less than one percent of the varieties can be used to accelerate the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing’s growth. Most of them are of lower grade. They would be completely sufficient for ordinary grade Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing.”

“However, the grade of the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing here is already very high. I-it seems to be evolving.”

“Please look, master! Isn’t there a pattern on the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing?”

Jian Chen looked over, peering through the blinding light that erupted from the sword pool. Sure enough, he saw a faint pattern on the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing that resembled a miniature sword.

“That’s a marking left behind by the ways. This Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing has already become unique. If you give it a little more time, it might even develop full consciousness and take a human form, allowing it to cultivate like cultivators and strengthen itself…” Qing Suo said.

Jian Chen sank into his thoughts after hearing the sword spirits’ explanation. Right now, he faced two options. The first was to give up on the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing’s evolution and harvest it right now, preventing any potential problems.

His other option was to take a gamble and find a way to make the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing rise up to a higher grade quickly.

That was because the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing could provide even greater assistance to the sword spirits after rising to a higher grade.

“Spiritual Fruits of Sword Nurturing can only ever be chanced upon through luck. Whenever there is one, it’s a tremendous source of opportunity. A rare treasure like that obviously needs to have its full value realised.” Very soon, Jian Chen made up his mind and turned around to leave the sword pool.

“There are a few Immortal Exalts who entered the Skyscraping World. With how valuable the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing is, no one can resist this kind of temptation. As a result, I can only spread the news of the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing. I will let these Immortal Exalts devote resources to nurturing it before stealing it from their hands,” Jian Chen thought. He could not come up with any better ideas for the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing to complete its breakthrough before the Skyscraping World shut again.

However, right when Jian Chen left the cave and returned to the outside world, he shuddered and came to a forceful halt.

A slender figure stood in front of him, clutching a sword wrapped in cloth as if she had been waiting there for a very long time.

Jian Chen was not unfamiliar with this lady. She was the daughter of the Heavenly Emperor of the Heavenly Star Palace of the twelve courts of heaven, Xing Caijian!

“What are you doing here? Don’t tell me you’ve also come for the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing?” Jian Chen asked. Xing Caijian had once tried to help him again and again, so he struggled to develop any animosity towards her.

However, as soon as he thought of the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing, Jian Chen became troubled.

There was only one Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing after all!

Xing Caijian glanced past the cave with her cold eyes. The depths of her eyes rippled, clearly also rather tempted, but her gaze soon returned to Jian Chen. With a hint of mixed emotion, she said, “I’ve specially come here because a senior wishes to see you in person.”

When he heard that, Jian Chen immediately became solemn. Clearly, he had already realised that the senior Xing Caijian mentioned was anything but ordinary.

At this moment, Xing Caijian raised her hands slowly and brought the sword in her arms before her. She said politely, “Senior, the person before me is the successor of the Azulet swords!”

With that, an illusionary figure appeared from the cloth-wrapped Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star.

He was a ruddy old man, giving off a sagely demeanor. A unique presence radiated from him. He had a dominating bearing that could stun the world.

In particular, his eyes seemed to hide endless sword intent.

However, Jian Chen noticed from a single glance that the illusionary figure was only a lingering will. It could not even be considered as a soul.

“This is senior Skyscraping Sword Venerable!” Xing Caijian said to Jian Chen.

When he heard that, Jian Chen became solemn and bowed politely towards the Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s lingering will.

“Little brother, are you really the one chosen by the Azulet sword spirits?” The Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s gaze was fixed on Jian Chen the entire time. His expression was mixed, filled with melancholy.

Before Jian Chen could answer, Zi Ying and Qing Suo’s figures appeared. They looked at the Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s lingering will with faces also filled with melancholy.

“Skyscraping g-greets the two of you.” The Skyscraping Sword Venerable bowed towards the sword spirits with mixed expressions.

“Skyscraping, you have already perished for many years. Why have you intentionally left behind an undying will?” Zi Ying asked him like a senior questioning a junior.

“I had an agreement with the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor, which is why I left a lingering will that has persisted until now. As for the reason behind that, I’m afraid I can’t tell you,” said the Skyscraping Sword Venerable. Shortly afterwards, he looked at Xing Caijian below and said melancholically, “If my lingering will hadn’t been awakened, it probably would have survived for over ten million years.”

“But now that it has been awakened, it’ll probably dissipate for good before long. However, I should be able to uphold my past agreement with the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor before it dissipates…”
