Chaotic Sword God

“Then why have you come? Don’t tell me you’re thinking of trying the next trial?”

“With your strength, you don’t have any hope of passing the next trial,” the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City said indifferently. Its cold voice was mechanical, devoid of any emotion.

“Even the first trial was already so tough for me, so even if you didn’t tell me, I knew I’d never pass the second trial. However, I did not come here to attempt the second trial.” The Illusionary Ancestor looked at the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City. Her presence fluctuated with great instability, having dropped down from the Third Heavenly Layer of Immortal Exalt to the Second Heavenly Layer already, and it continued to fall.

Under the influence of the tribulation of decline, her strength grew weaker and weaker.

However, the Illusionary Ancestor was completely unfazed, seemingly accustomed to it. She said to the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City, “I attempted this trial with only one objective in mind, which is to ask you for some information.”

“The Observance Heaven City is a sovereign god artifact, while you are its artifact spirit. You are proud. Only Grand Exalts are enough for you to treat them seriously, so if I came to you directly to ask about some information, I’d probably return empty-handed despite being the second ancestor of the Waymight clan.”

“That was why I went through so much effort to attempt these trials that only late Immortal Exalts have access to.”

“Having passed the first trial, you can ask me about some ancient secrets but not all of them. What do you want to know?” The artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City’s mechanical voice rang out.

“I want to know what the person who recently obtained the Divine Formation of the Heavens offered in exchange. Aside from that, since you could give the Divine Formation of the Heavens to him freely, you must know this person extremely well,” said the Illusionary Ancestor.

When it heard that, a rare hint of surprise actually appeared in the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City’s cold eyes. “The person who exchanged for a copy of the Divine Formation of the Heavens was just an Immortal Emperor. With your identity and status, you’ve gone through so much effort to attempt master’s path of trials just for a trifling matter like this?”

“This is indeed a trifling matter in your eyes but to me…” When she reached there, the Illusionary Ancestor paused and recalled the situation when she first encountered Jian Chen. She had already become filled with questions. “To me, this… seems to be very important… I must get to the bottom of this.”

“You are a peak Eighth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, only a step away from the Ninth Heavenly Layer. Immortal Emperors are no different from ants in your eyes, yet you are saying he’s very important to you?” the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City said in surprise. She looked at the Illusionary Ancestor in a strange light. Who knew what it was thinking.

“Yes. In my eyes, Immortal Emperors are like ants. Even some Immortal Exalts are only slightly larger ants to me, but he’s different-” the Illusionary Ancestor murmured gently. She seemed to realise that there was no need for her to ramble uselessly to an artifact spirit, so she immediately halted. Afterwards, she looked at the artifact spirit in interest and said, “I’ve already passed the first trial. My little request hasn’t exceeded the limits of the rules, has it?”

“Since you want to know so much, I’ll tell you!” The artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City happily agreed. In the next moment, numerous heavenly resources appeared, ranging from Immortal Tier to God Tier. They varied in grades as well.

However, these heavenly resources were not physical items. They were constructs of energy, only showing off their appearance.

The Illusionary Ancestor glanced past these heavenly resources. With her rich knowledge, she obviously recognised these heavenly resources one by one, together with their value. She became more and more surprised.

In the end, she looked at the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City in disbelief and asked, “He just used these things to exchange for a copy of the Divine Formation of the Heavens? Since when did the Divine Formation of the Heavens become so worthless?”

“These heavenly resources themselves aren’t particularly valuable, but the Xuanhuang Qi on them is extremely precious. You can say that he used the Xuanhuang Qi to exchange for the formation scroll of the Divine Formation of the Heavens. On top of that, the copy of the formation scroll has limited use,” the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City said.

“Xuanhuang Qi? I see.” The Illusionary Ancestor understood. “Who is this person?”

“He’s a past Thousand Immortal General, Chang Yang!” The artifact spirit glanced at the Illusionary Ancestor deeply and said, “I can only tell you this. As for the greater details, I do know about them, but it involves significant matters. Just passing the first trial is nowhere near enough for me to tell you. You must pass the second trial.”

“However, you have no hope of passing the second trial. As a matter of fact, you won’t even be able to last ten seconds during the second trial.”

“Chang Yang? Yang Yutian, is Chang Yang your true identity?” The Illusionary Ancestor stood where she was in deep thought.

By now, the artifact spirit had already vanished silently, together with the empty space that had been created from the power of the Observance Heaven City.

The Illusionary Ancestor appeared in a certain corner of the Observance Heaven City. It was quiet, with no one around.

Her tribulation of decline became even more severe. Her strength had already plummeted to the First Heavenly Layer of Immortal Exalt.

However, she remained unconcerned despite her receding strength, as this was only temporary. Once the tribulation of decline had passed, she would immediately return to her peak condition!

At this moment, she erased her presence, strolling through the Observance Heaven City at a leisurely pace like a regular person.

She seemed to be on a stroll, but she actually moved extremely quickly. She could cover an extremely vast distance with each step.

“Chang Yang? Yang Yutian? Jian Chen? The Sword Sect of Violet Heavens?” Before long, the Illusionary Ancestor’s face changed.

To this day, there were still people discussing matters regarding Thousand Immortal General Chang Yang in the Observance Heaven City.

As a matter of fact, the search for him had never ceased in the Observance Heaven City.

It was not because of Chang Yang’s identity as Jian Chen, the sect master of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens.

Nor was it due to the fact that the Immortal Feather sect had placed a bounty on Chang Yang.

Instead, it was because he possessed a treasure that could absorb Stainless     Qi!

A treasure like that had already attracted every single expert and organisation who wanted to enter the sacred land of the Observance Heaven City.

Despite so many years passing, people still remembered the treasure that could absorb Stainless Qi, and they still lusted after it.

With the Illusionary Ancestor’s current cultivation, as long as she confirmed that Yang Yutian was Chang Yang, she could easily investigate many of the matters that had occurred in the Observance Heaven City before.

“You are Chang Yang. I can basically confirm that. Despite the differing appearance and presence, many of your special features match up perfectly.” Unknowingly, a gentle smile appeared on the Illusionary Ancestor’s face. She let out the smile completely unconsciously, such that even she herself had not noticed it.

But shortly afterwards, her smile turned icy. Coldness flashed through her eyes.

At that instant, the surrounding temperature on the street seemed to plummet. Many of the cultivators on the street shivered uncontrollably.

“So cold. What’s going on? Why do I suddenly feel a chill in my bones?”

“What’s going on? For a split second, I felt like my heart was about to explode…”

......

…

Many cultivators were secretly alarmed. They all became extremely stern.

“The Immortal Feather sect has actually placed a bounty on you!” As for the root of this, the Illusionary Ancestor was completely unaware, or perhaps she was completely unconcerned with how her emotional fluctuations affected the cultivators in the surroundings. She could not help but ball her fists. She was furious.

But shortly afterwards, she suddenly stiffened. All of her emotions immediately vanished. She furrowed her brows firmly. She was confused. “What’s wrong with me?”

The Illusionary Ancestor stopped in the middle of the street. Her expression changed. She was uneasy.

A few seconds later, she took a step, and she seemed to vanish from the streets. When she reappeared, she was already standing in the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets.

A middle-aged man in white robes stood there as if he had already spent a long time waiting.

Behind him were numerous members of the upper echelon of the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets. Even the weakest of them were Immortal Emperors.

The middle-aged man was the vice pavilion master, Liao Chen.

“Welcome, Illusionary Ancestor!” The vice pavilion master clasped his fist towards the Illusionary Ancestor. He was extremely polite.

The upper echelon standing behind him all bowed towards the Illusionary Ancestor as well.

After all, the person before them was no regular peak expert but the second strongest ancestor of the Waymight clan!

In the past, the second ancestor of the Waymight clan would never receive such treatment. At the very least, she would not be received by the vice pavilion master like this.

However, the Waymight clan was now different from before!

“You knew I’d come?” The Illusionary Ancestor looked at Liao Chen.

Liao Chen smiled and said, “It’s all due to the pavilion master’s remarkable calculations. He foresaw that a valued guest would visit today, so he specially ordered me to wait here for you!”

“Take me to your pavilion master!” the Illusionary Ancestor said.

“Please, Illusionary Ancestor!” Liao Chen turned gently to the side and made an inviting gesture.

At the same time, a crack silently appeared beside him, instantly forming a gate that led straight into the miniature world that belonged to the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets.

On a mountain peak in the miniature world of the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets, the pavilion master sat by a cliff with his legs crossed. Before him on the tea table was a pot of tea that had just been made.

“Greetings to the pavilion master from junior Daowei Huanru!”

The Illusionary Ancestor silently appeared before the pavilion master. Her expression was filled with respect towards the pavilion master, proactively bowing and greeting him.

“There’s no need for such courtesy, Illusionary Ancestor. Please take a seat!” The pavilion master smiled gently and lifted the tea he had just made, personally pouring a cup for the Illusionary Ancestor.

The Illusionary Ancestor did not hold back, taking a seat with great composure. She was not uneasy at all.

Towards the pavilion master, she only possessed respect for him, but she did not fear him at all.

“Sure enough, the pavilion master’s foresight is divine. You even knew that I would be visiting the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets. I just wonder if the pavilion master knows why I have visited?” the Illusionary Ancestor smiled gently and said with composure. From how relaxed she was, it did not seem like she was facing a Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt. Instead, she acted like he was only a regular old man who could not be any more ordinary.
