Chaotic Sword God

As the sword spirits absorbed the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing, Jian Chen took on the responsibility of guarding them. As he gathered the surrounding spiritual Qi towards the sword spirits, he observed the distance through the secret technique from the Skyscraping Sword Venerable.

Once someone entered his range, he could shrink the area he gathered spiritual Qi from at any time to prevent anyone from detecting them.

As a matter of fact, he was already prepared to change locations at any time.

That was because the sword spirits could not afford to be disturbed at all.

“Although there won’t be any accidents if the sword spirits absorb the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing in the Primeval Divine Hall, it won’t be as convenient to gather spiritual Qi.” Jian Chen glanced at Zi Ying and Qing Suo who were surrounded by light from time to time and smiled gently.

“The Sword Sect of Yang Soul originally wanted to offer up the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing to Fang Jing, yet I’ve stolen it instead. I wonder if this counts as stealing from Fang Jing.” Jian Chen thought of that familiar figure again. A hint of mixed emotions flashed through his eyes.

Even to this day, he could still clearly remember the situation when he first encountered Fang Jing in the Saints’ World. Back then, she was still a little girl who made a living by selling maps. She was pitiful.

But now, she had already reached a height that he could only look up to. She was so powerful that even the leaders of major sects in the Immortals’ World racked their brains in an attempt to befriend her.

The tremendous transition in identity left Jian Chen sighing.

“The Heavenloss Master only had a descendant of who knows how many generations apart marry the fifth princess of the Heavenly Palace of Great Radiance. A connection like that was already enough for a group of Immortal Exalts to treat him so politely. Meanwhile, I’ve basically fought alongside the elder princess of the Heavenly Palace of Great Radiance, escaping from the Ice Goddess together. I wonder if this relationship with her holds any weight among these Immortal Exalts.”

“That’s not all. Near the Grand Sovereign Heaven, Fang Jing even gave me a tablet before she left…”

“That’s a tablet that the elder princess gave away personally. With her current influence in the Immortals’ World, I wonder if these Immortal Exalts will become dumbstruck if I take out this tablet…”

Jian Chen smiled gently, but he never considered doing this. He had obtained the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing through his own abilities. Why did he have to borrow someone else’s influence?

There was an intrinsic difference between items obtained through his personal ability compared to items obtained through using someone else’s name.

......

…

At this moment, on the Reverent Observance Heaven, a terrifying storm of energy wreaked havoc through an empty space created by the power of the Observance Heaven City. Rumbling sounds rang out endlessly.

Through the storm of energy, it was possible to see two figures locked in intense combat in the centre.

One of them was a middle-aged woman. She wore black clothes, dignified and graceful in appearance. She could unleash devastating power as she wished.

She was the second ancestor of the Waymight clan, the Illusionary Ancestor!

Locked in battle against her was a blurry figure.

Despite it being an illusionary figure seemingly condensed from energy and laws only, it gave off an extremely tangible feeling like a living person with flesh and blood.

Under the influence of her tribulation of decline, the Illusionary Ancestor could barely maintain her secondary body at the Fifth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt; it was extremely unstable. She seemed like she could drop from the Fifth Heavenly Layer to the Fourth Heavenly Layer at any time.

Despite that, the battle prowess she demonstrated even far surpassed some Sixth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts.

That was because her usage of the ways and her control over her energy was well beyond anything that a Sixth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt could rival.

The figure who fought the Illusionary Ancestor was also a Fifth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt. Its control and usage of the ways was no weaker than the Illusionary Ancestor. It even surpassed her.

As they fought, their strength and cultivation were similar, but the Illusionary Ancestor lost the upper hand.

During this process, the Illusionary Ancestor used numerous ancient secret techniques and powerful God Tier Immortal Techniques, but they were all nullified by the figure one by one.

Suddenly, the Illusionary Ancestor’s face changed slightly. In the next moment, her presence bled away, immediately dropping from the Fifth Heavenly Layer to the Fourth Heavenly Layer, and then to the Third Heavenly Layer.

In the span of a few seconds, the Illusionary Ancestor’s strength had declined to the Third Heavenly Layer of Immortal Exalt!

“The influence from the tribulation of decline is growing. I can’t keep it suppressed any longer.” The Illusionary Ancestor sighed gently inside. She had already fought against this figure for many years now. Gradually, she felt that her strength was insufficient.

However, as the Illusionary Ancestor’s strength receded, the presence from the figure she faced also declined soon after, remaining at the same level as the Illusionary Ancestor.

“I’ve spent so much effort in this battle. I have to win no matter what.” Resolve suddenly appeared in the Illusionary Ancestor’s eyes. In the next moment, another illusionary figure appeared behind her.

Unlike the illusionary figure she was facing, the illusionary figure behind the Illusionary Ancestor was identical to her in both presence and appearance.

In the next moment, the illusionary figure suddenly merged together with the Illusionary Ancestor.

From the moment they merged together, the Illusionary Ancestor’s presence suddenly changed as if her primary and secondary body had fused together. She immediately seemed to become whole again.

Her cultivation remained at the Third Heavenly Layer of Immortal Exalt, but the presence she gave off became even vaster and more tremendous. Shortly afterwards, she began to shine with dazzling light. The ways wove together and turned into a huge, snowy-white blade that sliced space, slashing towards the illusionary figure with unbelievable speed.

The illusionary figure extended its hand and the laws circulated as if it could control the paramount force in the world, pressing gently towards the Illusionary Ancestor’s colossal blade of light.

That gentle gesture seemed to hide great force. The palm strike seemed to be able to collapse space and overwhelm the ways.

In the next moment, the two attacks collided, locking into a stalemate in the space there. The two terrifying forces constantly collided and wore down one another.

But in just a few seconds, the Illusionary Ancestor’s colossal blade of light shattered the power from the illusionary figure before slashing through in an unstoppable manner.

Afterwards, the illusionary figure stopped all of its attacks. It seemed no different from before, without any injuries. As a matter of fact, its figure did not even fade away. Its power still seemed as great as before.

Dazzling light slowly dispersed several tens of thousand kilometres away. The Illusionary Ancestor in black clothes appeared again. She looked at the illusionary figure with blurred facial features behind her. There were mixed feelings in her eyes, as well as respect.

“Senior, I’ve won!” Suddenly, the Illusionary Ancestor clasped her fist towards the illusionary figure.

In the next moment, the illusionary figure vanished silently, merging back into the surroundings as a wisp of the laws. It seemed as if it had never existed in the first place but also seemed omnipresent.

“Throughout all this time, many peak experts have come to challenge the trials left behind by master but very few ever pass. You are very impressive. You are one of the few people who have passed the first trial.” A cold and clear voice rang out in the space there. A woman in a long white dress silently appeared before the Illusionary Ancestor.

She seemed like a goddess, radiating with a celestial sense of pureness as if she had transcended humanity.

Her appearance was alluring, beautiful beyond words. Her exquisite facial features were flawless like they were a gift from heaven. She was perfection.

The woman was the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City!

“May I ask how much of senior’s former strength did the lingering will I faced just now possess?” The Illusionary Ancestor seemed to be acquainted with the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City already. She was not surprised by the artifact spirit’s appearance at all. Instead, she clasped her fist and asked with her regular composure.

“The power of the lingering will left behind by master only possesses thirty percent of his former strength!” the artifact spirit said.

“What? Only thirty percent of senior’s former strength?” The Illusonary Ancestor was surprised when she heard that. Soon after, she became depressed as if she had suffered a severe setback.

The illusionary figure from earlier was the power of a lingering will left behind by the original master of the Observance Heaven City. It could be understood as an embodiment of the master of the Observance Heaven City’s strength

With the same cultivation, the Illusionary Ancestor needed to use her full strength to only defeat an embodiment of thirty percent of his former strength. That had quite an effect on her.

“Master had grasped numerous ways, so you should feel proud enough for being able to defeat a clone condensed from thirty percent of his strength. After all, only a handful of people have ever been able to achieve this throughout history,” the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City said blankly.

It then continued, “According to the rules, you can choose a reward for overcoming the first test set down by master. The reward includes heavenly resources, cultivation methods, legacies, and some ancient secret techniques.”

“Tell me, what do you want?”

The Illusionary Ancestor shook her head gently and said, “I come from the Waymight clan. With the heritage and strength of our Waymight clan, why would we lack those things?”
