Chaotic Sword God

“You must be joking, Illusionary Ancestor. I might have been able to anticipate the arrival of an important guest today, but I’m not omnipotent or omnipresent. As a result, I’d obviously be unaware of what brought you here.” The master of the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets smiled. He spoke to the Illusionary Ancestor as an equal.

The Illusionary Ancestor picked up the tea cup on the table and took a steady sip. Right when she was about to say something, she stiffened. In the next moment, her presence deflated like a balloon, plummeting once more and falling from Immortal Exalt to Immortal Emperor.

Afterwards, she went from the Ninth Heavenly Layer to the Eighth Heavenly Layer. She continued falling to the Seventh Heavenly Layer before finally stabilising.

However, her presence continued to fluctuate as if her cultivation could fall again at any time.

“Looks like your tribulation of decline is quite severe this time.” The master of the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets gazed at the Illusionary Ancestor deeply.

“This tribulation of decline really occurred at a terrible time, which is why it’s more severe than any of the times in the past. Before long, I assume the tribulation of decline will make me re-experience the world of Immortal Monarchs.” The Illusionary Ancestor smiled wryly. She was powerless.

“When the tribulation of decline arrives, you should focus on recuperation. You shouldn’t fight too much, yet you just had to visit the path of trials in the Observance Heaven City at a time like this.” The master of the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets shook his head gently as if he found everything that the Illusionary Ancestor did to be extremely perplexing.

The Illusionary Ancestor did not dwell on this topic. Suddenly, she looked at the pavilion master in interest and said, “Pavilion master, you should be familiar with the Thousand Immortal General Chang Yang who once stirred up a storm in the Observance Heaven City, right?”

The pavilion master furrowed his brows. After a moment of thought, he said, “I have heard of him, but he’s only an Immortal Emperor. May I ask why the Illusionary Ancestor has suddenly begun caring about someone like him?”

“I heard that when he competed for the position, he received a bye every single round. All of the byes during that competition went to him. In my understanding of the Observance Heaven City, this is extremely rare. I was wondering why the Observance Heaven City took such great care of him?” the Illusionary Ancestor asked.

“Illusionary Ancestor, you’ve asked the wrong person. You should be asking the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City,” the pavilion master said calmly.

The Illusionary Ancestor stared at the pavilion master’s elderly face and said, “I want to know everything regarding Chang Yang. You can freely name your price.”

The pavilion master stared at the Illusionary Ancestor in surprise. “Why have you suddenly developed such an interest in an Immortal Emperor?”

“Because I want to get to the bottom of something. If I can’t get to the bottom of this, I cannot find peace,” the Illusionary Ancestor said sternly.

After some consideration, the pavilion master called to the empty space behind him, “Liao Chen!”

The vice pavilion master, Liao Chen, silently appeared. He bowed towards the pavilion master.

“Go, fetch all the information regarding Chang Yang!” The pavilion master instructed.

“Yes, pavilion master!” Liao Chen clasped his fist towards the pavilion master and the Illusionary Ancestor before silently vanishing.

After Liao Chen had left, the pavilion master said to the Illusionary Ancestor, “A few years ago, a colossal incident occurred on our Observance Heaven City. Basically all of the disciples of the Immortal Sect of Colossal Elephants were slain. Only a few dozen ended up surviving. Out of rage, the Immortal Sect of Colossal Elephants went on a bloody rampage on the Reverent Observance Heaven, which led to the deaths of many Immortal Exalts. Even Sword Heart from the Immortal Sect of Myriad Swords was injured due to this.”

“In the end, this incident led to a devastating battle between the elder princess of the Heavenly Palace of Great Radiance and the four Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts of the Sacred Beast clan.”

“You should be familiar with this, Illusionary Ancestor.”

When she heard that, the Illusionary Ancestor was dazed, but soon afterwards, she smiled gently and said proudly, “That matter shook up all the peak experts in the Immortals’ World. I am obviously aware of it.”

“I just never expected that in just ten thousand years, Jing’er’s strength would actually reach such an unbelievable level. She faced off against the four supreme ancestors of the Sacred Beast clan who were wielding sovereign god artifacts, not only holding her ground against them but even defeating them…”

“It was unbelievable, truly unbelievable…”

The Illusionary Ancestor was filled with amazement.

“The elder princess of the Heavenly Palace of Great Radiance was standing up for the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens. After over three million years, there really aren’t a lot of people left who are still bold enough to stand up and speak for the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens.” The pavilion master sighed gently.

The Illusionary Ancestor’s eyes shone. She stared at the pavilion master with a slight smile. “You’re worried that I’ll go after the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens?”

“I do indeed have that worry. After all, the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens has shown the Immortals’ World far too much kindness. The entire Immortals’ World owes them,” the pavilion master said.

“Since your Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets cares about the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens so much, just stand forward directly as the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens’ backing. Other people aren’t aware of your Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets’ heritage, but I know it very well. Once you use the Tablet of Divine Secrets, who do you still fear?” the Illusionary Ancestor said.

“It’s not like the Illusionary Ancestor doesn’t know about the ancestral teachings of the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets. Unless we truly face destruction, our Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets will never use the Tablet of Heavenly Secrets. On top of that, our Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets never partakes in the conflicts of others,” said the pavilion master.

“Since you refuse to become involved in any conflicts, why do you worry about the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens? Since you refuse to stand up for them, what’s the point of worrying?” the Illusionary Ancestor said.

The pavilion master sighed and fell silent.

Seeing how powerless the pavilion master seemed, the Illusionary Ancestor smiled gently and said, “But there is something that you don’t have to worry about, pavilion master. I am investigating Chang Yang and not the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens. In other words, this has nothing to do with the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens.”

“Pavilion master, here is all the information regarding Chang Yang.” At the same time, Liao Chen suddenly appeared and personally handed a jade slip over to the pavilion master.

The pavilion master dismissed Liao Chen before handing the jade slip in his hand over to the Illusionary Ancestor.

But very soon, the Illusionary Ancestor frowned. She slowly set down the jade slip in her hand. She stared at the pavilion master and asked, “Your Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets has only gathered this much information on Chang Yang? The information here is no more than what I found by investigating elsewhere.”

“Don’t tell me your Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets is intentionally hiding something?”

“Chang Yang is extremely special. He seems to have appeared from thin air in the Immortals’ World. There has been absolutely no news about him from the past. At the same time, it’s impossible to peer into any matters regarding him.” The pavilion master raised his head to look at the Illusionary Ancestor and continued, “You came to our Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets for news probably because you also tried to peer into his matters. You know exactly what happened.”

“Did you try the Technique of Heavenly Secrets?” the Illusionary Ancestor asked with furrowed brows.

“I obviously did, but I still found nothing,” the pavilion master said powerlessly.

The Illusionary Ancestor’s face changed before she closed her fingers forcefully and crushed the jade slip in her hand. She immediately vanished, having left already.

Even with her fall in cultivation, some of her abilities were still beyond Immortal Emperors.

The pavilion master gazed in the direction that the Illusionary Ancestor had vanished in. Only after a while did he say, “Liao Chen, what do you think is going on with the Illusionary Ancestor? Why has she suddenly developed such a deep interest in Jian Chen?”

The vice pavilion master, Liao Chen, silently appeared. He bowed slightly and stood behind the pavilion master politely. “Actually, I’m very perplexed as well. The Illusionary Ancestor is a very lofty figure. Why would a supreme figure like her take interest in an Immortal Emperor for no reason?”

“If she’s already discovered Jian Chen’s secret, then that would make sense, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.”

The pavilion master nodded slowly and said, “The Illusionary Ancestor must have met Jian Chen somewhere. If she discovered the twin swords, she would have countless different ways to deal with him even with her strength weakened due to the tribulation of decline.”

“If we take one step back, Jian Chen’s true identity would have been given away already if she discovered the twin swords. Why would she do something so unnecessary and go to such lengths to investigate Jian Chen’s origins?”

Liao Chen furrowed his brows in thought. He was also rather confused.

Although they were the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets, able to peer into the heavenly secrets and foresee the future and past, possessing great secrets, they were not omnipotent after all.

Let alone a supreme expert like the Illusionary Ancestor!

The matters and people connected to the Illusionary Ancestor were also related to colossal ties of karma, so they could not peer into her so easily either.

“Artifact spirit, have you discovered anything?” The pavilion master raised his head and looked at the sky.

The artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City silently appeared and said slowly, “I feel like she cares very much about him, the kind without any malice at all.”

“Cares?” The pavilion master and vice pavilion master could not help but exchange glances. They were both stunned.

......

…

Near the entrance of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens in the Sword Region of Violet Heavens, a woman in black appeared silently. She stood outside the entrance and stared at the sect that had already sank into ruins. Her eyes shone with a strange light.

A while later, she began walking towards the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens step by step, just like a regular mortal.

She was the Illusionary Ancestor!

But right now, under the influence of the tribulation of decline, the Illusionary Ancestor’s strength had fallen once again. It had already plummeted to the Third Heavenly Layer of Immortal Emperor.

Very soon, the Illusionary Ancestor arrived before the entrance of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens. When she took another step forward, she seemed to cross into some kind of forbidden zone. A terrifying pressure descended.

“Who dares to set foot here!” A furious bellow rang out from the sky. The pressure of an Immortal Exalt swept into the surroundings. Shortly afterwards, five colossal pillars descended from above, landing around the Illusionary Ancestor like a prison. They trapped her there.

The Illusionary Ancestor’s face immediately sank. Icy-cold killing intent was released from her eyes.

That was true killing intent, the kind from the bottom of her heart. When the killing intent appeared, the surroundings seemed to be sealed in ice. As a sense of desolation pervaded the area, even Immortal Exalts could not help but shiver inside.

Despite her cultivation plummeting yet again, the Illusionary Ancestor was still a peak Eighth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt after all. She still had the same comprehension as before, so the pressure she gave off was obviously as terrifying as when she was at her peak condition.

The five pillars that trapped the Illusionary Ancestor shook violently as if they were somewhat hesitant.

“Space-splitting, how bold of you!” the Illusionary Ancestor said icily with a sunken face.

Silently, a figure appeared in front of the Illusionary Ancestor. He was the strongest ancestor of the Immortal Sect of Colossal Elephants, the Space-splitting Venerable!

At this moment, the Space-splitting Venerable hovered before the Illusionary Ancestor. He was astounded and uncertain.

But very soon, as if he had finally recognised who the puny little “Immortal Emperor” in front of him was, his face changed drastically.
