I Married the President

Chapter 391: Chapter 391: Something Happened

[Everyone, just give it up. Reporter Sinclair must’ve been paid off. Why else would she write such an idiotic article?]

[I can’t believe I was so wrong about you. You’re an idiot! Trash! I’m unfollowing!]

[Like this if you think Claire Sinclair is trash.]

[Heh heh, not only will I be the executioner, I’ll also curse Yvonne Judd so she can never be reborn as a human, for all eternity. And you can go down to The Inferno and keep her company!]

...

Not only had her social media been overrun, but even the review section for Claire Sinclair’s novel wasn’t spared. Overnight, it was flooded with over a hundred thousand new comments, all of them cursing her out.

Unfortunately, Claire Sinclair couldn’t reveal the truth just yet. The police hadn’t solved the case, so she couldn’t leak any details. Besides, this was the exact effect she was aiming for.

The more viciously the netizens cursed her now, the more ashamed they would be when the truth finally came out. Only then would they truly reflect on their actions and learn not to be so easily manipulated in the future.

Then again...

Claire Sinclair had forgotten something—Harrison Lynch was still out there looking for evidence!

She quickly gave him a call. ”President Lynch, are you still looking for evidence?”

On the other end of the line, Harrison Lynch was panting heavily. His breathing sounded labored, and it took him a long time to force out a sentence. ”Reporter Sinclair, you have to be careful... I’m not... going to make it... Please, you have to see Shayna Ryan’s case through to the end. Thank you...”

After he spoke, Harrison Lynch’s breathing grew more and more rapid, but it quickly became weaker and weaker until, finally, there was no sound at all.

”President Lynch? President Lynch?” Claire Sinclair called out a few times, but there was still no sound from the phone, though the call hadn’t been disconnected.

’Did something happen to him?’

Claire Sinclair had a bad feeling. Not daring to hang up, she took her phone and walked into Henry Hartwell’s office. ”Teacher Hartwell, I need you to do me a favor and call Officer Tanner for me right now.”

”Which Officer Tanner?” Henry Hartwell was a little confused.

”The Officer Tanner from Police Headquarters! Hurry!”

”Alright, don’t panic.” It was the first time Henry Hartwell had ever seen her this frantic. He quickly found Tristan Tanner’s number in his contacts and made the call.

Once the call connected, Henry Hartwell looked up at Claire Sinclair. ”Do you want to talk to him?”

Claire Sinclair snatched the phone from his hand and spoke rapidly, ”Officer Tanner, the informant who tipped me off about the Yvonne Judd case might be in trouble! I’m still on the line with him right now. His number is ****. Please trace his location immediately. I don’t know how much battery his phone has left. If it dies, it’ll be much harder to find him. Officer Tanner, hurry!”

”Calm down. I’ve already got people tracing it. Try to stay on the line with him for as long as you can.”

”I know. My phone has enough battery. Thank you for your help.”

”Don’t mention it. I’ll let you know when I have news. Hanging up now.” It was hard to get things done while on the phone, so Tristan Tanner ended the call.

Claire Sinclair waited patiently for a long time, nearly two hours, before she finally got a call from Officer Tanner.

”Claire Sinclair, I’m very sorry. By the time we found him, he showed no vital signs.”

”Who did it?” Claire Sinclair’s heart grew heavy.

”It’s hard to say. There were no surveillance cameras where he was found, and no one saw him. But judging by the cause of death, it was likely a revenge killing. The murderer’s methods were brutal. They deliberately slit the femoral arteries in both of his legs to let him bleed out. Even if he had managed to call for an ambulance, he wouldn’t have held on until it arrived. So I’m guessing he was already prepared for the worst when he called you. What did he say to you before he died?”

”He just told me to be careful, nothing else. I have a recording on my phone. Do you need a copy?”
