I Married the President

Chapter 367: Chapter 367: Don’t Push Your Luck

Phoebe Lockwood bit her lip hard, the fires of jealousy nearly consuming her.

’No, I can’t just stand by and watch that damn bitch steal the honor that belongs to me!’

She had to do something to fight back.

’Damn bitch, just you wait!’

After work, Claire Sinclair was feeling quite productive, so she stayed at the office to write her novel, figuring it was better than going home and not being in the right mood to write.

Phoebe Lockwood, for a change, didn’t leave right after work either. She sat at her desk, idly scrolling through Weibo.

Every so often, she would sneak a glance at Claire Sinclair.

’Damn bitch, why hasn’t she left yet?’

Writing a novel required getting into the zone. Claire Sinclair was completely immersed in the world of her story, totally unaware of Phoebe Lockwood’s gaze.

She wrote 4,000 characters in an hour. Looking at the time, she saw it was almost 8 p.m. Time to go home.

Claire Sinclair quickly tidied her desk, shut down her computer, and finally packed her bag, ready to leave.

When she happened to notice Phoebe Lockwood was still there, she immediately became wary.

’Why hasn’t this woman left yet?’

Phoebe Lockwood met her gaze openly, stood up, and walked over with a cheerful smile. ”Claire Sinclair, you’re finally done. I’ll treat you to dinner, let’s go.”

Even a fool could see the ill intent behind her expression.

Claire Sinclair rolled her eyes at her. ”When did I ever agree to have dinner with you?”

As she spoke, she quietly turned on her phone’s voice recorder.

Phoebe Lockwood suppressed the urge to curse her out and did her best to remain polite. ”I know I’ve been nasty to you in the past. It was petty of me, so I want to apologize. You won’t turn me down, will you?”

Claire Sinclair smiled faintly. ”You’re not wrong. I am turning you down.”

Even a fool could see this woman was up to no good.

Phoebe Lockwood’s face instantly darkened. She said angrily, ”Claire Sinclair, don’t be shameless when I’m trying to be nice!”

”Heh...” Claire Sinclair chuckled, turned, and started to walk away. ”So I’ll be shameless. Goodbye.”

Fuming, Phoebe Lockwood chased after her. ”Claire Sinclair, you get back here!”

As she spoke, she reached out to grab Claire Sinclair’s arm, but her foot suddenly twisted. Four-inch high heels are not easy to control.

”AHH—” Her body instantly lost its balance, and her head slammed hard into the corner of a desk...

Hearing the commotion, Claire Sinclair glanced back curiously, only to see Phoebe Lockwood collapsed on the floor. The corner of the desk had gouged a bloody gash in her forehead, and fresh blood was streaming down.

”Claire Sinclair, you...” Phoebe Lockwood wanted to curse some more, but her head was throbbing in pain. ’Am I going to die?’

Who isn’t afraid of death? Phoebe Lockwood quickly begged for help. ”Help me... it hurts so much...”

Before she could finish, her vision suddenly went black, and she knew no more.

Claire Sinclair froze for a moment, then hurried over and knelt beside her. Her gaze was drawn to the blood flowing endlessly from the wound, and the image of the old man she had recently witnessed get shot in the head flashed through her mind.

Her vision swam for a second, and a wave of nausea washed over her. She fought it down and reached out to nudge Phoebe Lockwood’s arm. ”Hey, Phoebe Lockwood, are you okay?”

She called out a few times, but there was no response.

’Damn it, what a pain!’

Claire Sinclair quickly pulled out her phone to call for an ambulance.

Over ten minutes later, Phoebe Lockwood was rushed into the emergency room.

Although it had nothing to do with her, the doctor wouldn’t let her leave until the family arrived.

Left with no choice, Claire Sinclair could only wait at the hospital. Utterly bored, she decided to text Adrian Quincy: Mr. Quincy, I’m so bored at the hospital. Are you off work yet?
