I Married the President

Chapter 375: Chapter 375: Drag Out the Ghost

Adrian Quincy gave a slight nod. ”In addition to the alarm, it can also record audio and take pictures. The camera resolution isn’t very high, but it’s good enough for what you need. Take the manual and read it over yourself.”

As he spoke, he pulled a small booklet from a drawer and handed it to her.

Claire Sinclair took the booklet and quickly scanned it, silently committing the instructions to memory.

Adrian Quincy let out a soft cough, his face a little pale.

Claire Sinclair’s heart gave a sudden lurch. ”Mr. Quincy, are you feeling unwell?” she asked with concern.

”I’m fine,” Adrian Quincy said softly. ”You should get back to work. I’ll have Aiden Howkins drive you.”

But Claire Sinclair was still worried. ”You don’t look well. You shouldn’t work so hard.”

Adrian Quincy nodded. ”Alright.”

Claire Sinclair was still worried and wanted to stay with him a little longer, so she desperately tried to find something to talk about. ”Um, will Governor Lockwood be investigated?”

”He will.”

”Then... what about Phoebe Lockwood?”

”Henry Hartwell will take care of it. You’ll find out when you get back.”

Claire Sinclair sighed softly. ”Alright, then. I’ll head to work now. Don’t work too hard, okay?”

Adrian Quincy slowly raised his gaze, his eyes filled with tenderness. ”Claire, come here.”

Claire Sinclair hesitated for a moment before walking over, unable to help herself.

Even though he hadn’t said a word, she knew what he wanted. She leaned in and offered him her lips...

The kiss was so intense it nearly sent her soul spiraling. Fortunately, a knock on the door broke the spell, or it wouldn’t have ended so soon.

Claire Sinclair fled in a panic. Quentin Zane walked in right on her heels and couldn’t resist glancing at her flustered retreat. He teased, ”What’s all this? Her face was bright red...”

Adrian Quincy suddenly broke into an uncontrollable fit of coughing, pulling Quentin Zane’s attention back to him.

”You said you were heading back last night. I thought you were going to get a good night’s sleep. Were you two at it until dawn?” he asked, his voice laced with playful teasing.

Adrian Quincy’s voice was grave. ”Someone is secretly watching Claire. I need you to find them.”

Quentin Zane sighed. It felt like they were talking past each other.

’Oh well. What else could he expect? Eldest Young Master Quincy was a fanatic when it came to protecting his woman.’

”Alright, then. I’ll be sure to drag this ghost out of the woodwork. Any other orders?”

”Still no word from Frank Morgan?”

”Nope. No idea what’s going on with that guy. He’s completely unreachable. I was about to go look for him myself.”

”We wait,” Adrian Quincy said in a low voice.

’My men don’t go down that easily.’

Quentin Zane nodded and turned to leave.

When Claire Sinclair returned to the newspaper office later that day, all eyes were on her the moment she walked in.

A colleague kindly told her, ”Claire Sinclair, Hanson wants to see you in his office.”

”Okay, thanks.” Claire Sinclair first went to her desk to put down her bag before heading into Henry Hartwell’s office.

Seeing her, Henry Hartwell immediately broke into a smile. ”Claire Sinclair, you certainly don’t pull any punches. Bringing down Governor Lockwood’s entire family so quickly.”

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. ”Teacher Hartwell, to be fair, everyone here has seen how Phoebe Lockwood constantly antagonizes me. What she did this time went way too far, wouldn’t you agree?”

”That’s right. She brought this upon herself.”

”So, are you going to fire her?”

Henry Hartwell smiled. ”Firing her is a given. Phoebe Lockwood completely lacks the professional mindset and ethical boundaries required of a journalist. Besides, I already gave her a chance. It’s not my fault she didn’t take it.”

Claire Sinclair let out a soft sigh of relief. ’She knew it. Teacher Hartwell was a fair and impartial man.’

Henry Hartwell gave her a long, meaningful look and then ventured, ”Claire Sinclair, what would you think if I fired you, too?”
