I Married the President

Chapter 388: Chapter 388: Do You Recognize These Words?

”I’m sorry, but I don’t give interviews to the media,” Tristan Tanner said, his tone cold.

Claire Sinclair was no stranger to rejection, so it didn’t faze her. She smiled and said, ”In that case, I’ll just write my article based on what I’ve gathered. If I get any of the details wrong, I’ll count on Officer Tanner to point them out.”

Tristan Tanner shot her a look, his tone laced with annoyance. ”Do you always flash Young Master Quincy’s ID card when you’re interviewing people?”

”I suggest you take a closer look at the video, Officer Tanner. There’s someone in it who I suspect will be difficult to apprehend, given your position.”

At her words, Tristan Tanner replayed the video. This time, he noticed something unusual.

’Isn’t that retired Councilman Holden Webb’s grandson?’

It was only then that Tristan Tanner understood why she had shown him the ID card. He had completely misjudged her.

”I apologize for what I said earlier. If you have questions, I’ll answer them when I have a moment. You should head back for now. You can leave the rest to us.”

”Officer Tanner, I’m afraid I can’t just hand over Mr. Quincy’s ID card to you.”

Tristan Tanner thought for a long moment, then relented. ”Alright. I’ll take you with me to arrest this person.”

Claire Sinclair smiled. This was exactly the result she wanted.

-

Half an hour later, Claire Sinclair arrived outside a luxurious villa, accompanied by the police officers.

As this was a covert operation, all the officers were in plain clothes, including Tristan Tanner.

Before going inside, Tristan Tanner gave a few orders to his men, telling them to wait outside for the time being. He would only take two officers and Claire Sinclair in with him.

Once the instructions were given, Tristan Tanner walked to the front door and rang the doorbell.

After a long wait, the door was finally opened. It was the Collier family’s housekeeper.

Seeing the group of people, the housekeeper asked quizzically, ”And you are?”

Tristan Tanner flashed his badge, his expression serious. ”Police detectives. We’re investigating a case. Is Deacon Collier in?”

”De-detectives?” The housekeeper froze for a moment, then quickly recovered, her attitude hardening. ”Officer Tanner, do you have any idea who lives in this house?”

Tristan Tanner’s voice was sharp. ”I don’t care who lives here. Step aside.”

The housekeeper didn’t budge, her attitude growing even more hostile. ”I’m telling you, this is the home of Mr. Hector Collier! Even if you are a detective, you still need his permission to enter!”

Left with no choice, Tristan Tanner produced the arrest warrant. ”Can you read what’s on this? Or is Mr. Hector Collier’s name somehow more powerful than this official document?”

The housekeeper was instantly at a loss for words.

With the arrest warrant issued, it seemed she could no longer stop them. She silently stepped aside.

Tristan Tanner led his men inside and began to search for their target.

Claire Sinclair remained silent the entire time, but the camera in her hand was ready to start shooting at any moment.

Just as the officers were preparing to head upstairs, the housekeeper surreptitiously took out her cell phone, apparently trying to send a warning.

Claire Sinclair walked over. ”Ma’am,” she said, ”what are you doing?”

”It’s... It’s none of your business.” The housekeeper turned her back on her.

The next second, the phone was snatched from her hand.

The housekeeper looked up and was met with a stern, cold face, which gave her a start.

Tristan Tanner’s face was devoid of expression. ”If Deacon Collier escapes, I will hold you responsible.”

The housekeeper didn’t dare to try anything else.

Claire Sinclair glanced around the living room, unable to resist snapping a few photos of the priceless luxuries and collectibles on display.

’A retired councilman who would condone his grandson committing such a heinous act... what kind of secrets could he be hiding?’

’Perhaps this is a place Quincy Manor should investigate.’
