I Married the President

Chapter 368: Chapter 368: It Was Claire Sinclair, She Pushed Me

Not even ten seconds after she sent the message, her phone rang.

The caller ID read: Adrian Quincy.

Claire Sinclair answered immediately. ”Mr. Quincy!”

A man’s concerned voice came through the phone, ”Why are you at the hospital? Are you sick?”

”No, no! Phoebe Lockwood accidentally fell and split her head open. She was bleeding a lot, so I brought her to the hospital. Her family isn’t here yet, and the doctor won’t let me leave.”

”I’ll come pick you up.”

Claire Sinclair was taken aback. ”Uh... you’re done already?”

”Which hospital?”

”The First Affiliated Hospital of the Medical University.”

”Wait for me.”

With that, he hung up.

Claire Sinclair let out a soft sigh. ’I really hope he gets here soon. I want to go home.’

Some time later, a middle-aged couple came rushing down the hallway and stopped right in front of Claire Sinclair.

One was Governor Bernard Lockwood. The other, a woman who bore a strong resemblance to Phoebe Lockwood, was undoubtedly her mother.

At home, the couple constantly heard their daughter complaining about how Claire Sinclair bullied her and stole her thunder. As a result, they had no goodwill toward Claire, and in fact, loathed her.

When they saw Claire Sinclair, their attitude was extremely hostile.

”Claire Sinclair, what happened? What’s wrong with my Vera?”

”Did you do something to our Vera? Huh? Speak up!”

Claire Sinclair rolled her eyes.

’What’s that saying? The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.’

”Governor Lockwood, Mrs. Lockwood, since you’re here, I’ll be going now. Goodbye.” Not wanting to waste another word of explanation, Claire wanted nothing more than to leave as quickly as possible. She couldn’t stand the sight of this family for a second longer.

Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood were about to stop her from leaving when the door to the patient room opened, and a doctor wheeled Phoebe Lockwood out.

Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood hurried over. ”Doctor, how is our Vera?”

”Vera, how are you? Does it hurt?”

Claire Sinclair couldn’t help but glance back. Phoebe Lockwood’s face was obstructed, so she couldn’t tell if she was awake.

’None of my business...’

Claire Sinclair turned and walked away. She faintly heard Phoebe Lockwood say, ”Dad, Mom, you’re finally here, WAHHH... It hurts so much...”

’She has the energy to cry? She must be fine then, right?’

Claire thought, stepping into the elevator without looking back.

Adrian Quincy hadn’t arrived yet, so she had no choice but to wait for him downstairs. They had arranged to meet, after all, and leaving on her own would mean letting his kind gesture go to waste.

She checked the time. It was almost eleven. ’So sleepy...’

Claire Sinclair found a chair and sat down to rest her eyes for a moment.

「Sixth Floor, Inpatient Ward.」

Phoebe Lockwood was transferred to a regular room. A thick bandage was wrapped around her head, and her face was a little pale.

Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood’s hearts ached to see her like this. ”Vera, what on earth happened? How did you get hurt so badly?”

”Vera, tell Dad. Did Claire Sinclair do this to you? Dad will get justice for you!”

Seeing her parents look as if they wanted to kill Claire Sinclair, Phoebe Lockwood felt a wave of gratification. ’Then she remembered that only she and Claire had been in the office. Plus, she’d been standing in a perfect blind spot for the security camera. So, it wouldn’t matter what she said, would it?’

’Heh heh...’

’Claire Sinclair, let’s see you try to squirm your way out of this one!’

Phoebe Lockwood put on a pitiful, aggrieved expression and said in a pathetic voice, ”Dad, Mom, it was Claire Sinclair. She’s the one who pushed me! She made me hit my head on the corner of the desk!”

”The nerve of her! That damn bitch!”

”That’s going too far! Vera, don’t you worry. Dad will absolutely get justice for you!”
