I Married the President

Chapter 371: Chapter 371: You Can’t Beat Me

He knew he shouldn’t doubt his precious daughter, but seeing Claire Sinclair look so resolute made him feel a little uneasy.

Claire Sinclair said, her expression unflinching, ”I said I can prove my innocence. Governor Lockwood, please consider this carefully—will you give me five minutes before you make the arrest?”

Bernard Lockwood instinctively bristled, shouting angrily, ”Stop trying to talk your way out of this! If you have any evidence, you can present it in court. Take her away!”

The words had barely left his mouth when a deep voice suddenly cut in, ”I’d like to see who dares take her.”

Everyone started, looking toward the door in astonishment.

’Oh my god, what is Adrian Quincy doing here?!’

It wasn’t just Bernard Lockwood; Claire Sinclair was also stunned.

’Didn’t he go to work? Why would he show up here?’

Adrian Quincy walked in alone, his powerful and imposing figure like that of a monarch surveying his domain. He exuded an intimidating, kingly aura.

No one dared to even breathe too loudly, their eyes fixed, unable to look away from his noble figure.

Claire Sinclair let out a soft sigh of relief. ’I was going to handle this myself, but now that he’s here, Governor Lockwood is probably done for.’

Adrian Quincy walked up to her, his expression softening. ”Claire, what happened?”

Before Claire Sinclair could open her mouth, Bernard Lockwood launched his own accusation. ”Young Master Quincy, Claire Sinclair pushed my daughter, causing her to be injured. Please do not interfere. Even if it means offending Quincy Manor, I will get justice for Vera!”

Adrian Quincy’s cold eyes narrowed. He ignored Bernard Lockwood’s complaint, waiting for Claire Sinclair to tell him the truth. He would only trust what she had to say.

Claire Sinclair said coolly, ”I didn’t push her. She twisted her ankle and fell all on her own. I was even kind enough to take her to the hospital. I never expected to be slandered in return.”

Adrian Quincy nodded slightly, but before he could speak, Bernard Lockwood rudely cut in. ”Nonsense! Why would my Vera frame you? She—”

Claire Sinclair shot back just as ruthlessly, ”Since Governor Lockwood refuses to believe me, let’s all go to the hospital and confront Phoebe Lockwood. We can have Mr. Quincy accompany us as a witness. That would be fair to everyone, don’t you think?”

Deep down, Bernard Lockwood still trusted his daughter more, so he agreed readily and confidently. ”Fine! To the hospital it is!”

Claire Sinclair let out a soft sigh of relief. She looked up into the man’s inscrutable dark eyes, the corners of her lips curling into a slight smile.

Her sparkling, sprite-like eyes seemed to be telling him: ’Get ready for the show.’

Adrian Quincy returned her gaze with a nod. No matter what happened, he would always be on her side.

「And so, the group made their way to the hospital.」

At first, only Adrian Quincy was going to go with them. But somehow, people from the notary office also arrived, and even The Presidential Palace sent a few people over, claiming they were there to visit the governor’s daughter.

But these people had no connection to the Lockwood Family, so how could they possibly be there to visit the sick? It wasn’t until much later that Claire Sinclair understood. After hearing about the incident, Teacher Hartwell had deliberately called them all to the hospital to spectate, all to ensure justice was served for her. But of course, that is a story for another time.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the group entered Phoebe Lockwood’s room.

Phoebe Lockwood and her mother, Mrs. Lockwood, who was looking after her, were dumbfounded to see so many people arrive—especially when they saw Adrian Quincy among them. Phoebe, in particular, was stunned speechless.

Governor Lockwood went over to his precious daughter. ”Vera, Claire Sinclair refuses to admit that she pushed you, so we’ve come for you to face her directly. Hurry and tell Daddy exactly how she pushed you. Daddy will make things right for you!”
