I Married the President

Chapter 353: Chapter 353: I Am Orion Osborne’s Girlfriend

Claire Sinclair tiled the four surveillance feeds on the desktop, then turned to Aiden Howkins. ”Aiden, could you please have someone watch the monitors for me? If anyone suspicious shows up, this watch will vibrate. I’m stepping out for a moment.”

As she spoke, she pulled the backup watch from her pocket, shoved it into Aiden Howkins’s, and then hurried out the door.

”Young Madam, where are you going?” Aiden Howkins started to follow, but his eyes were caught by an alluring woman who had just appeared on one of the feeds. His gaze tightened. In a low voice, he ordered, ”Shadow is here. Alert everyone. We’re at a Level-S state of alert!”

On the stage at Sovereign Plaza, the first candidate was about to begin. The speaking order had been arranged by age, from oldest to youngest.

The first person to take the stage was the governor of Scylla State. As a seasoned politician, he was perfectly calm, his expression unreadable.

”I am the governor of Scylla State. Please give me your support.” Since he was only allowed to say one sentence, he left the stage as soon as he finished.

In the crowd below, only a handful of voters made any noise. It was clear the public didn’t have much hope for him.

The next two candidates came and went without making much of a splash.

When it was the fourth candidate’s turn, the plaza erupted in a deafening roar before he even took the stage—

”Young Master Kingsley! Young Master Kingsley! Young Master Kingsley!”

”Young Master Kingsley, we support you!”

”Go, Young Master Kingsley...!”

That’s right. It was Ethan Kingsley’s turn.

Ethan Kingsley walked onto the stage with elegant grace. His impossibly handsome face wore a wickedly charming and roguish smile. He had the look of a wealthy playboy, yet he exuded an air of innate nobility.

The microphone was a little low, so he leaned down slightly. Facing the crowd of thousands, he smiled and said, ”I’m Ethan Kingsley. If you want to get rich, vote for me.”

That single sentence made his platform perfectly clear.

The crowd of thousands erupted into thunderous cheers once again.

With his hands in his pockets, Ethan Kingsley strolled off the stage.

Adrian Quincy brushed past him. The two men didn’t even exchange a glance.

「At the same time.」

Claire Sinclair sprinted to an office building about a kilometer from Sovereign Plaza. Without pausing to catch her breath, she rushed into the lobby and pressed the elevator button for the fourth floor.

When she reached the fourth floor, the hallway was eerily silent. Far down the corridor, she saw two burly men standing guard at the door to a room.

Hearing her footsteps, the two men looked up. A second later, they both drew their guns.

Claire Sinclair immediately threw her hands up in surrender and shouted in English, her voice carrying an Aethelgard accent, ”I’m Orion Osborne’s girlfriend! I need to see him!”

’Orion Osborne’s girlfriend?’

The two men glanced at each other, then burst out laughing in unison.

Cold sweat beaded on Claire Sinclair’s forehead. She had no idea if playing the part of a concerned girlfriend would work, but she had no path of retreat.

’Besides, these people are involved in a far more terrifying plot.’

She was betting her life on the hope that one good deed deserved another.

’If he remembers that I saved his life when we were children and lets me walk away safely, I win. If he disregards our past and puts a bullet in me, then that’s just my fate.’

’She couldn’t just stand by and watch a six-month-old baby die at the hands of these monsters. She just couldn’t.’

At that thought, Claire Sinclair’s resolve hardened.

She lifted her chin, her hands still in the air, and walked toward the unknown room.

As she reached the doorway, both men cocked their guns.
