Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1198: 1197 I’m not being sarcastic

Gu Kai nodded, his voice clear and pleasant as it spilled from his thin lips, “Of course it’s true. You can ask around, when have I ever given my word and not meant it?”

Bai Yiyi looked at his raised handsome brows, suddenly blossoming into a radiant smile, she cheerfully said, “Okay, I’ll help you, but on one condition: you have to meet the demand I propose.”

Gu Kai turned his head, his gaze fixedly on her, “What’s the condition, tell me.”

Bai Yiyi chuckled twice, then raised a finger, “Just one condition, very simple: from now on, you can’t be mean to me, no mocking or teasing, and no fighting with me.”

“That’s three conditions.”

Gu Kai gave her a look.

Bai Yiyi frowned slightly, then pointed at him with her finger, saying, “That won’t do, in short, you must treat me well in the future, no matter how many conditions there are, just agree to it.”

“Bai Yiyi, aren’t your demands a bit too high?” Gu Kai’s brows knitted lightly, “What if you are the one who treats me poorly, starts mocking and taunting me first, and picks fights with me?”

“You can’t argue back.” Bai Yiyi’s face was brimming with a brilliant smile, she felt herself to be so clever, so astute.

Gu Kai needed her, she didn’t believe she couldn’t handle him.

“Fine, then you can give Fang Zhiwei a call in a bit, tell her you’re with me,” Gu Kai thought for a moment, agreed to Bai Yiyi’s conditions, solving the Fang Zhiwei issue first, as for how he would treat Bai Yiyi in the future, that would depend on her attitude.

“Gu Kai, do you think I’m stupid? If I help you with Fang Zhiwei now, and the next moment you go back on your word, what then?”

“I’m not you, how could I possibly…”

Bai Yiyi’s slender finger immediately pointed at him, “Look, you just agreed with me, and in just two seconds, you’ve started mocking again.”

Gu Kai’s words were caught in his throat as he tightly pursed his lips, swallowing back the mocking comment he was about to make.

Bai Yiyi smiled triumphantly, “I’ll have to see your performance, and besides, making Fang Zhiwei give up naturally is something that should happen in its own time. She has already broken up with you; It would be crazy for me to call her and tell her we’re together.”

Gu Kai felt that what Bai Yiyi said made some sense; calling Fang Zhiwei like that did seem a bit odd.

He quickly got into the mood, a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, and he said happily, “Then let’s do as you say, let it happen naturally. These past few days, Fang Zhiwei has been visiting the hospital every day, so come find me at the hospital after you get off work this afternoon.”

Bai Yiyi pouted, “Don’t expect me to make lovingly prepared lunches and dinners for you like Fang Zhiwei did; that’s something I won’t do.”

“Don’t worry, I’d be scared to eat what you make anyway.” Gu Kai said and then immediately laughed, explaining, “That’s not a taunt, absolutely not.”

Bai Yiyi lifted her chin, pretending to be dignified, “Forget it, I’ll be the bigger person here and let it slide this once. Here we are, you don’t need to go inside; just park at the front.”

As they chatted, before they knew it, they had arrived at the pharmaceutical factory.

Gu Kai responded with an “Okay,” slowed down, and the Maybach came to a stop outside Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory.

Following behind, Wen Jin’s car happened to drive up. Seeing Bai Yiyi getting out of Gu Kai’s car, a flicker of puzzlement crossed his eyes, then a smile curved his lips. He rolled down his window and asked Gu Kai, “Ah Kai, how come it’s you driving Yiyi to work?”

“I was on my way.”

Gu Kai flashed him a mysterious smile, honked the horn, and with a quick U-turn, he was gone with the wind.

Bai Yiyi entered the office building and as she went upstairs, Wen Jin came in behind her.

“Yiyi, it seems like you and Ah Kai are getting along quite well.”

Wen Jin’s inquisitive eyes were upon Bai Yiyi, who, after working with him for so long, was not just his secretary but also a friend.

Bai Yiyi turned, meeting Wen Jin’s probing gaze, she masked with a laugh, “He needs something from me, so he doesn’t dare raise his voice at me.”

“Oh? Tell me, what does Ah Kai need from you?”

Wen Jin became interested, amusement apparent in his eyes.

“Gu Kai told me not to say.” Bai Yiyi withheld her laughter, apologetically looking at Wen Jin.

Wen Jin let out a laugh, not pressing her further, “If Ah Kai doesn’t want you to say, then I won’t make it difficult for you. Oh yes, I received a phone call earlier – the client who was scheduled to visit our factory next week will be arriving in G City tomorrow afternoon instead, I need you to arrange the reception.”

Bai Yiyi was slightly taken aback, “Why the sudden change? Aren’t you supposed to be at a meeting tomorrow afternoon?”

“That’s why, I want you to arrange the reception work. With the meeting tomorrow afternoon, you won’t need to come with me. This client is very important,” Wen Jin said, returning to a serious tone.

“Okay, I got it,” Bai Yiyi replied earnestly.

After finishing up with the three kids, Wen Ran finally had a chance to sit on the swing chair on the balcony for a while.

She lay languidly in the swing chair, her delicate fingers dialing Bai Yiyi’s number, recalling what Fang Zhiwei said the night before, with her lips gently pursed.

After the phone rang several times, Bai Yiyi’s lively voice came through, “Hello, Ranran.”

Wen Ran grabbed a cushion next to her to hold, turning on speakerphone, too lazy to hold the phone, “Yiyi, are you busy?”

“I’ve just finished. Are you monitoring me? The second I’m free, your call comes in.”

Hearing Bai Yiyi’s teasing words, Wen Ran laughed lightly, “You’ve caught me. Next time I’ll wait a few minutes to call, or try to call when you’re busy.”

“Yiyi, last night, my brother, Sister Wei, and Tongtong came to my place for a visit; why didn’t you come?”

“They went to your house?” Bai Yiyi asked in surprise.

She thought Gu Kai had taken Fang Zhiwei back to the Gu Family. Wasn’t that the case?

“Yes, my brother, Sister Wei, and Tongtong. You’re not too busy going on blind dates or on dates, are you? I heard that yesterday, that guy Zhang something-or-other went to your factory and asked you out to a movie.”

Even though Wen Ran stayed at home, she was well-informed.

In fact, Mo Xiuchen would tell her every interesting thing that happened outside every day.

“Who did you hear that from, Gu Kai?”

Wen Ran chuckled, “Not my brother, I have my inside source in your factory.”

“If you have an inside source, then didn’t you know I rejected him?” Bai Yiyi pretended to be displeased on the other end of the phone.

Wen Ran said she knew, they chatted for a bit, and then Wen Ran steered the conversation to the main topic, “Yiyi, last night Sister Wei mentioned something to me.”

“What is it?”

Bai Yiyi had a bad feeling, she felt that whatever Fang Zhiwei told Wen Ran had to be about the scene on the staircase, her face darkened a bit, Fang Zhiwei was too much of a blabbermouth.

“Sister Wei asked me if you and my brother are dating. She said she saw you and my brother in the stairwell, looking very intimate.”

Wen Ran’s eyes and brows were thick with mirth, she was quite pleased to see Bai Yiyi and her brother getting along; with Tongtong as their adorable daughter, she actually believed that over time, sparks of love would fly between them.
