Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1180: Do you like Ah Kai?

Bai Yiyi did not stop Fang Zhiwei from going to find Gu Kai. Watching her elegantly walk towards him, Bai Yiyi’s eyes twinkled knowingly with a smile.

It’s unknown what Fang Zhiwei said to Gu Kai; they were too far apart for Bai Yiyi to hear their conversation. However, Gu Kai glanced in her direction with an indifferent expression.

Upon leaving the Mo family’s home and getting on the road, Fang Zhiwei drove attentively, seemingly forgetting what she had mentioned earlier at Wen Ran’s Home about needing help. Bai Yiyi, holding the still-sleeping Tongtong, gazed down with softened eyes, also remaining silent.

After a few minutes, Fang Zhiwei glanced at Tongtong in Bai Yiyi’s arms and said with a smile, “Tongtong is sleeping so sweetly.”

Only then did Bai Yiyi look up, her face filled with gentle motherly love, “Yes, Tongtong is a little sleep god. She probably won’t wake up even when we get home.”

“Yiyi, I really envy you,” Fang Zhiwei said with emotion, her eyes filled with genuine envy.

“What is there for you to envy about me?” Bai Yiyi asked, amused, her mind vaguely guessing that Fang Zhiwei’s envy might be directed at Tongtong’s existence.

But that was not a topic she wanted to delve into.

The smile on Fang Zhiwei’s face faded, and a melancholic look gradually appeared in her eyes, her voice carrying a tint of sadness: “Yiyi, actually, I and Ah Kai broke up a long time ago.”

“Ah?” Bai Yiyi expressed surprise.

That morning, she still thought of them as a couple. Now, she couldn’t simply say she already knew. That might lead Fang Zhiwei to misunderstand, thinking she was mocking her.

Otherwise, it would involve bringing up Ranran, and any misunderstanding from Fang Zhiwei would be unfortunate; better pretend she didn’t know.

Fang Zhiwei just seemed to want to talk to someone about her feelings, and that listener was clearly none other than Bai Yiyi.

“Before the New Year, on the night before he went abroad, he broke up with me, saying he wasn’t suitable for me. Actually, I still can’t understand why Ah Kai suddenly wanted to break up with me these last few months.”

Bai Yiyi felt quite awkward.

She didn’t feel qualified to be the audience for Fang Zhiwei, “Is it possible that there’s some misunderstanding between you two?”

After thinking for a while, Bai Yiyi asked with concern.

“Giggle!”

The sound of deep sleep, Tongtong suddenly let out an adorable laugh, her lips curving into a heartwarming smile.

Fang Zhiwei turned her head in surprise, and Bai Yiyi also looked down at Tongtong in her arms, gently explaining, “Tongtong likes to laugh in her dreams; it often happens like this.”

“All children are like that.” Seeing the adorable look on Tongtong’s face, Fang Zhiwei couldn’t help but smile slightly, her sadness seemingly alleviated a bit by Tongtong’s pure, innocent laughter.

Pausing briefly, she continued, “No, there’s no misunderstanding between Ah Kai and me. If I must say there is, it was definitely my mistake that caused Momo to be stolen, leaving a scar in Ah Kai’s heart.”

“Then you should explain it to him. I’ve seen you two get along well. For someone as outstanding as you and who treats him so well, if he doesn’t cherish that, wouldn’t that be foolish.”

The last sentence was spoken by Bai Yiyi teasingly, complimenting Fang Zhiwei, while indirectly criticizing Gu Kai.

At the same time, she also cleared herself.

Fang Zhiwei smiled bitterly, “Yes, I think I’ve been very good to him too. Don’t laugh at me, but, I’ve liked him since high school. It’s been over a decade now.”

“That long?”

Bai Yiyi was genuinely surprised.

She hadn’t expected that Fang Zhiwei had liked Gu Kai for so long, no wonder.

“Yep, a long time, long enough that liking him has become a part of my life. But before, I never dared to imagine, nor did I ever think about letting him know my feelings. After all, with Ah Kai being such an outstanding and perfect man, there are many women who adore him.”

Bai Yiyi did not speak, just looked at Fang Zhiwei gently, listening quietly as she said:

“If he had never appeared in my life, I might have silently liked him for a lifetime, or maybe, someday I would meet someone like him who could stir my heart, and then forget him. However, he did appear.”

Bai Yiyi inwardly cursed Gu Kai, for disrupting someone’s life without intending to marry them.

“Those days when I was with Ah Kai were the happiest time of my life, I once thought, I could really grow old with him. Perhaps I was too hasty, Ah Kai had never been in a relationship before, and being accustomed to his single, free life, I shouldn’t have rushed to propose to him.”

“It’s not your fault, it’s Gu Kai who didn’t know what he had,” Bai Yiyi comforted Fang Zhiwei, clearly taking her side at this moment.

“Yiyi, sometimes, I really wish I were you, having a child with him, having an everlasting bond.”

Fang Zhiwei sighed lightly, her eyes filled with deep sorrow infused with a hint of envy.

Bai Yiyi forced a smile and said, “You’re not me, that’s why you’re envious. I actually wish that Tongtong’s father was anyone but Gu Kai. It was just an accident, don’t mind it.”

“I don’t mind,” Fang Zhiwei hurriedly explained.

More than anything, it was envy.

For a long time after that, Fang Zhiwei was lost in her own thoughts, and Bai Yiyi was also preoccupied with her own concerns, quieting the carriage for a while.

When they arrived outside the community where Bai Yiyi lived, Fang Zhiwei parked the car, turned her head to see Tongtong still asleep, and smiled again, “Just like you said, Tongtong is a little sleeping god. This trait must have come from you and not Ah Kai.”

Bai Yiyi’s eyes flickered with surprise, but Fang Zhiwei saw her look and shyly explained, “Yiyi, don’t get me wrong, although I’ve been with Ah Kai for not a short time, we’ve never been intimate or lived together, I just visited his office a few times while he happened to be resting. So, I know Ah Kai is very alert…”

“I didn’t say anything,” Bai Yiyi chuckled, she was just a bit surprised.

Fang Zhiwei glared at her, “Okay, you didn’t say anything, but, I have a question for you, Yiyi, can you answer it honestly?”

“What question, ask. As long as I know, I will tell all, to thank you for bringing me and Tongtong home.”

Fang Zhiwei’s smile faded, and she asked softly, “Do you like Ah Kai?”

Bai Yiyi widened her eyes and looked at Fang Zhiwei as if she were a monster, “Why would you think that? Could it be, did I do something that made you misunderstand? It’s impossible, Gu Kai and I are natural enemies. You just mentioned that because of your mistake, Momo was taken away. Gu Kai has a grudge because of that. Think about it, my father caused him and Wen Ran to be separated for over twenty years, and his mother died in depression. With such a huge grudge, he would nearly want to kill me.”
