Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1152: 1151 didn’t plan to recognize you

Second floor, in the study

Mo Xiuchen gestured Jiang Liu toward the sofa, and they both took a seat.

“How are Yuting and the child doing?”

Mo Xiuchen picked up a cigarette from the coffee table and offered it to Jiang Liu, who shook his head, “I quit smoking a long time ago.”

Mo Xiuchen raised an eyebrow and placed the cigarette back on the coffee table.

“Yuting and the baby are both well. She’s lost all her memories, not just those about you.”

When Jiang Liu brought up Shen Yuting, it was like when Mo Xiuchen mentioned Wen Ran, his sharp brows unconsciously softened with a trace of tenderness.

Looking at him, Mo Xiuchen said indifferently, “It seems that you two are getting along well.”

“Not bad. Besides her previous stubbornness about you, she is actually a very easy girl to get along with. She’s not arrogant or affected.”

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You love her, so everything about her seems perfect to you. The fact that she has lost her memory is indeed a good thing. But surely, you didn’t seek me out just to talk about this.”

Mo Xiuchen spoke calmly, his expression one of certainty.

Jiang Liu composed himself and looked steadily at Mo Xiuchen, “Why did you help me?”

A slight arc formed at the corner of Mo Xiuchen’s mouth. He had thought Jiang Liu was going to ask about something else.

He asked that because he didn’t know.

“I wasn’t helping you.”

“No, you were helping me. In fact, the cosmetics company that approached me for an endorsement was thanks to your assistance. Aside from that, there was the time when I spread the photos of Wen Ran and Qin Mu at Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion. Going by your style, you wouldn’t normally deal with it that way, but you didn’t pursue it.”

Mo Xiuchen offered no reply.

Jiang Liu pursed his lips and continued, “You’ve helped me on more than those two occasions. But no matter how long I thought about it, I couldn’t figure out why you would want to help me.”

“But recently, I suddenly thought of a possibility.”

Jiang Liu’s words caused Mo Xiuchen’s gaze to deepen abruptly, a sharpness flitting across the depths of his eyes, and in an instant, he regained his composure.

Jiang Liu stared at Mo Xiuchen, and after a few seconds of silence, said calmly, “When I was young, my mother told me that my father was killed by a man named Mo Jingteng. When I asked her why that man killed my dad, she wouldn’t tell me.”

“Later, during an inadvertent conversation I overheard between my mother and another woman, she said that when my dad closed his eyes, he was still calling for her.”

“At that time, I was in the house; my mother and that woman were talking in the yard. I only heard my mother tell her that it was her husband who killed my dad…”

These things, Jiang Liu had never told anyone, not even his own mother.

If it weren’t for Mo Xiuchen’s repeated assistance, he would never have thought in this direction. All he knew was that Mo Jing was the murderer of his father, a man who sat on a fortune of several hundred billion, someone he simply could not touch.

Later, he met Cheng Jia. Cheng Jia noticed his resemblance to Mo Xiuchen and wanted to use him, so he took the opportunity to use her as well. And then, he got close to Shen Yuting…

However, before his revenge could be implemented, he fell in love with Shen Yuting. He had once lived a carefree life, but once in love, he became devoted and infatuated. In this aspect, Mo Xiuchen was the same, and so was their father.

Mo Xiuchen’s gaze shifted, the color in his eyes flickering between light and dark.

After Jiang Liu finished speaking, he watched Mo Xiuchen patiently, without pressing him for an answer.

“You guessed right, you and I are brothers from the same father. Initially, I didn’t know either, only before Mo Jingteng died did he tell me that I was not his biological son.”

Mo Xiuchen spoke with a tone of indifference, void of emotion, his eyes as deep as a pool, his face expressionless, Jiang Liu could not tell if he cared about his own origins.

He spoke as if narrating someone else’s story, without any inflection in his voice, “Later on, after a long investigation, I found out that my mother and your father—my biological father—were deeply in love.”

“Although his love was for your mother, he also treated mine well. Aside from love, he gave everything else he could.”

Jiang Liu had no actual memories of his own father; he only knew from his mother that his father was a good man.

“More precisely, he is your father, though we share some blood relation. If not for him, Mo Jingteng wouldn’t have hated me so much all these years.”

A sardonic smile curled on Mo Xiuchen’s lips.

He harbored no fondness for the man who lacked the courage to be with his mother, yet made her pregnant with a child.

On the contrary, after learning about his origins, Mo Xiuchen found his hatred for Mo Jingteng lessen a bit. Consider a man as arrogant as Mo Jingteng, bearing such an enormous cuckold’s horns, how could he tolerate it?

Gu Yan said last time that Mo Jingteng had another DNA test done later, the result being 99.9%…

That wasn’t a test between Mo Jingteng and Mo Xiuchen, but between Mo Jingteng and Mo Zixuan. It was nothing more than a facade of peace, a self-deception.

But later, when Mo Jingteng discovered Xiao Wenqing also betrayed him, having an affair outside, he flew into a rage, forgetting he had done the test years ago, and dragged Mo Zixuan for a second DNA test.

“He truly hasn’t fulfilled any responsibilities as a father towards you.”

Jiang Liu looked at Mo Xiuchen’s face, chiseled as if by a sculptor, they both bore some resemblance due to inheriting their father’s genes, but Mo Xiuchen’s mother was even more beautiful than his own.

Thus, Mo Xiuchen was handsomer, his features more refined. Such a cold face, such a proud man, he indeed had reasons to resent his biological father.

Had it not been for his origin, Mo Jingteng would have never turned a blind eye to Xiao Wenqing’s repeated persecutions over the years, nor would he have driven a wedge between him and Wen Ran when he lost his memory, allowing Cheng Jia, a flirtatious woman, to stay by his side.

“In the end, Mo Jingteng did not completely cut you off, nor did he disclose your identity to the world. Our relationship can stay the same as before, as if nothing’s changed.”

“I have no intention of acknowledging you.”

Mo Xiuchen’s voice was laced with indifference as he rose from the sofa, “If there’s nothing else, you may go downstairs. Ah Kai and the others are still there.”

Jiang Liu’s lips twitched slightly, and he suddenly laughed as he looked at the proud Mo Xiuchen, “That’s for the best. I was wondering how I’d refuse you if you insisted on acknowledging each other. Now I don’t have to bother.”

With that, he enjoyed the sight of Mo Xiuchen’s subtly changing expression, whistled triumphantly, opened the door, and strode out of the study.

Mo Xiuchen watched with half-closed eyes as Jiang Liu strutted out of the study like a rooster that had won a fight, heading toward the staircase. He scoffed; even if Jiang Liu was his half-brother from the same father, this was his territory. Where did Jiang Liu get his confidence from?

He wasn’t Mo Xiuchen’s only half-brother after all!
