Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1168: Give and take

Yiyi looked at Gu Kai incredulously, “You ordered so much food, can you finish it all by yourself?”

“I didn’t necessarily order the dishes that you like,” Gu Kai raised an eyebrow.

Yiyi pouted and said, “I’m not as picky as you, a wealthy young master, nor would I be as extravagant and wasteful as you.”

“True, you need to save money to raise Tongtong.”

Gu Kai said it nonchalantly, but Yiyi was startled and looked at him with a hint of inquiry, “I don’t need to save, I can afford to raise Tongtong.”

Gu Kai laughed out loud, suddenly leaned forward, placing his hands on the table, and looked at Yiyi with burning eyes, “I heard that you are going on a business trip tomorrow and won’t be back until a week later?”

“Who told you that?”

Yiyi looked at Gu Kai guardedly.

She knew that this man wouldn’t invite her to a meal for no reason, he must have some plot in mind.

“Ah Jin, the night I had dinner with him, he said, you guys are going on a business trip on Thursday, it will be at least a week before you return. Yiyi, what will you do about Tongtong when you’re on a business trip?”

“Tongtong has my mother to take care of her, you don’t have to worry.”

Yiyi had already guessed Gu Kai’s intention by this point.

Sure enough, Gu Kai snorted with a sneer, “Yiyi, you’re okay with having your elderly mother take care of your daughter every day? It wasn’t easy for her to raise you by herself, now you should be making her life happy and peaceful in her old age, not having her be your free nanny.”

Yiyi’s face showed annoyance, “This is my business, you have no right to dictate.”

“But it’s not fair to Tongtong either. I’ve thought about it for a long time and still feel that it’s better for Tongtong to live with me. I have the means to raise Tongtong, and I don’t need you to pay child support, you could even go and find another man to marry.”

Gu Kai’s words truly angered Yiyi, “Gu Kai, how can you be so fickle, breaking your promise not to fight with me over Tongtong?”

“I did promise you before, but the premise was that you had to be capable of giving Tongtong a good life. But observing over time, I’ve noticed that you can’t even provide a stable life for her.”

Gu Kai’s words were aggressive.

Yiyi became so angry that her face turned pale, “Who says I can’t give Tongtong a stable life? It’s not like she can only grow up well in a super rich family. Tongtong growing up with me is absolutely fine.”

Gu Kai scoffed dismissively at Yiyi’s anger, “Yiyi, getting angry doesn’t erase the facts. Let me just casually point out three reasons why you’re not fit to raise Tongtong.”

Yiyi stood up and walked away.

“Yiyi, stop right there.”

Gu Kai’s eyes darkened, and his tone suddenly turned cold.

Yiyi turned around, glaring at him furiously and bit out, “Go ahead, say it.”

“First, because you let your mother take care of Tongtong, she once injured her eye. Second, because of your personal reasons, Tongtong left G City, breaking the condition you promised me before. Third, you often need to go on business trips and can’t take good care of Tongtong.”

With every point Gu Kai made, Yiyi’s face grew uglier.

After he finished with his three reasons, Yiyi’s anger turned to laughter, “What about you then, are you able to take good care of Tongtong? As someone who doesn’t even have weekends off, on call 365 days a year, how can you care for Tongtong?”

Gu Kai hadn’t expected Yiyi to counterattack at this moment. A flash of surprise crossed his eyes, then he smirked, “I can give Tongtong a complete home.”

Bai Yiyi mimicked his sarcasm and responded with a cold sneer, “A complete family? How do you know Tongtong likes living with a stepmother? Once you and Fang Zhiwei have children, Tongtong will become the unloved Cinderella. I will not let my daughter live with children from you and another woman.”

“Since that’s the case, how about we both make a concession?”

Gu Kai, that lunatic, was smiling when Bai Yiyi thought he was about to explode in anger.

Bai Yiyi paused for a moment upon hearing his words.

The wariness in her eyes remained, “How do we both make a concession?”

“I won’t fight for Tongtong’s custody. When you’re on a business trip, she can stay at my place. Rest assured, I won’t let her stepmother take care of her.”

Bai Yiyi furrowed her brows, looking at Gu Kai suspiciously. This deceitful man changes his face every minute; she wasn’t sure what he really meant.

Gu Kai waited for a moment, and seeing that Bai Yiyi didn’t sit down, he stood up, stepped forward, and pressed her into the chair. With his hands propped on the chair back, his tall figure slightly bent over as he looked at Bai Yiyi, “Tongtong is my daughter too. My condition isn’t excessive. Think about it carefully. After dinner, give me your answer: whether we both make a concession or…”

He didn’t finish his sentence, but the implication was clear.

Bai Yiyi’s lips were pressed tightly together, the anger on her face gradually turning to a cold calm.

She cursed Gu Kai in her heart, stating she should consider it, but where was the option to choose? After going around in a big circle, all he wanted was to take Tongtong to his home.

“Fine, I accept your proposal. When I’m on a business trip, Tongtong can stay at your place.”

Bai Yiyi’s words were stiff, but it didn’t affect Gu Kai’s mood. Hearing her answer, he satisfactorily curled up the corners of his lips.

**

Mo Xiuchen went back to work at the company, leaving Qin Mu to continue staying in City C.

That day, Wen Ran was out in the yard sunbathing with the nanny and her three babies when the legendary Miss Gao unexpectedly visited her home.

After buying gifts for her three babies and exchanging pleasantries, Miss Gao finally broached the main topic, “Mrs. Mo, could you give me Qin Mu’s phone number?”

“Qin Mu’s phone number?” Wen Ran blinked, “Miss Gao doesn’t have Qin Mu’s phone number?”

“I don’t. He has always been reluctant to give it to me.”

Miss Gao was somewhat displeased when she mentioned this. In fact, she was not very ugly; she was just too overweight.

“I’m really sorry, but it seems Qin Mu has recently changed his number. I don’t know his new number either.”

In the evening when Mo Xiuchen came home, Wen Ran mentioned this to him, and Mo Xiuchen laughed heartily, “Ranran, although your excuse wasn’t great, not giving her the number was the right choice.”

Wen Ran pouted, “How was I to know she came to ask for Qin Mu’s phone number? But, before Miss Gao left, she asked me to tell Qin Mu that she would become the type he likes.”

“What does that mean?”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed slightly, a light smile playing at the corner of his mouth.

Wen Ran shrugged, “How should I know? Right after she said that, she left. Maybe she’s going back to lose weight, thinking that after she slims down and becomes beautiful, she’ll be the type that handsome guys like.”

Mo Xiuchen flipped over, pinning Wen Ran beneath him, lowered his head and kissed her lips, his voice husky, “Maybe. None of that concerns us, Ranran. You said that when I go to work, you’ll make it up to me…”
