Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1176: 1175 They broke up

In the end, Gu Kai surrendered and said, “Alright, I admit, I have something to tell you.”

Mo Xiuchen raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue.

Gu Kai stuffed a piece of torn bread into his mouth, chewed and swallowed it, then asked, “What does it feel like to like someone?”

“Huh?”

Although Mo Xiuchen knew that Gu Kai called him in to talk, he didn’t expect Gu Kai, a thirty-year-old man, to not know what it feels like to like someone.

And to come ask him about it.

Gu Kai’s self-esteem was hurt by Mo Xiuchen’s astonished expression, and his face immediately darkened, “Do you even know or not?”

Mo Xiuchen smiled and calmly said, “Actually, I don’t know, I have never liked anyone.”

“Nonsense, don’t you like Ranran?”

“I love Ranran, not just like. So why don’t you tell me first, which woman have you fallen for?”

Mo Xiuchen smiled like a fox, and Gu Kai pursed his lips, randomly answering, “A foreign girl, I think I like her.”

“A foreign woman, not bad, cross-national love is good. What’s her name?” Mo Xiuchen was not one to be easily fooled and wouldn’t believe him just because of a casual remark.

“I asked you first, you tell me first—what does it feel like?” Gu Kai persisted.

Mo Xiuchen laughed, “Liking someone means no matter when, where, or what you’re doing, you’ll think of her. I thought that after you went abroad, you would discover that you liked Fang Zhiwei, but it looks like that’s not the case.”

“Of course, I don’t have that feeling towards Fang Zhiwei. Being abroad for so long, not only did I not miss her, but I actually felt relieved not seeing her, returning to those free and unconstrained days of the past.”

“Fang Zhiwei must have scared you pretty bad for you to become like this.”

Mo Xiuchen looked at Gu Kai with sympathy.

“Maybe I’m suited for the single life, honestly, I don’t know how you don’t find it annoying dealing with Ranran all day every day.”

After saying that, Gu Kai quickly added another sentence: “I’m just speaking from a man’s perspective, it has nothing to do with Ranran.”

Mo Xiuchen snorted, “Don’t worry, Ranran won’t kick you out after hearing this. Once you really fall in love with a woman, you’ll understand why I’m never bothered by being with Ranran every day.”

Mentioning the name Ranran always brought a warmth to Mo Xiuchen’s heart, a feeling which Gu Kai, the forever singleton, naturally wouldn’t understand.

He wasn’t just not annoyed, he even wanted to be with Wen Ran all the time, even though they were already an old married couple, he was still full of passion.

“Stop acting all foolish whenever Ranran is mentioned, there’s nothing to be envious of. How many couples in this world are as loving as you guys? If it means marrying someone I don’t love, I’d rather stay single.”

“You didn’t think this way before,” Mo Xiuchen unapologetically said.

Gu Kai’s mouth twitched, “Before, I was just impulsive.”

That’s why he got involved with Fang Zhiwei, even thinking as long as Fang Zhiwei was filial to his dad and treated Ranran well, he could accept her.

“You realized early on, there’s still hope for you.” Mo Xiuchen had warned Gu Kai before not to act impulsively. Facing a life together with a woman he didn’t love would be torturous.

“You reminded me back then.”

Gu Kai suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with gratitude looking at Mo Xiuchen.

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed, and he turned his face away, “I didn’t encourage you to break up with Fang Zhiwei, that was the romance trouble you stirred up, don’t try to drag me into it.”

He was very satisfied with the peaceful life of the past year, without any messy women disturbing him and Ranran, every day besides work, occasional business trips, socializing, the rest of the time, he spent with Ranran and the three little treasures, feeling very content.

“I don’t mean to drag you down, there’s no need to be scared,” Gu Kai cursed inwardly that Mo Xiuchen was too cunning, he hadn’t even said anything yet.

“I’m going out first, you take your time and eat.” Mo Xiuchen stood up, not caring about Gu Kai, and left the dining room on his own.

“Mr. Mo.”

Walking to the foyer of the living room, he ran into Fang Zhiwei who was coming in from outside.

Mo Xiuchen turned his head and glanced in the direction of the dining room, and said indifferently, “Ah Kai is eating breakfast in the dining room. Miss Fang, if you haven’t had breakfast yet, you can make do with some.”

“Thank you, Mr. Mo.”

Fang Zhiwei thanked him and walked in.

In the dining room, Gu Kai frowned upon hearing the conversation between Fang Zhiwei and Mo Xiuchen, and a moment later, Fang Zhiwei appeared at the entrance of the dining room.

“Ranran, did something happen between your brother and Fang Zhiwei?”

Outside on the lawn, Bai Yiyi asked Wen Ran in a low voice.

Just now, after Gu Kai entered the living room, Fang Zhiwei seemed distracted, as if she had a lot on her mind.

Wen Ran blinked, and instead of answering, asked, “Didn’t my brother tell you? By the way, this morning, did Sister Wei and my brother come to pick you and Tongtong up together?”

“Yeah, they came together, Fang Zhiwei was driving herself. At that time, I kindly asked your brother if he wanted to let Fang Zhiwei sit in his car to hold Tongtong, and I would help her drive, but he said it was his business and didn’t want me interfering.”

Bai Yiyi still felt a bit annoyed recalling Gu Kai’s attitude.

Especially later, when he said not to entertain ideas about Wen Jin, that made her want to retort, “It’s none of your business.”

Wen Ran hesitated for a moment, then said softly, “I only found out this morning too, my brother proposed breaking up with Fang Zhiwei before he went abroad.”

“They broke up…”

Bai Yiyi exclaimed in surprise, then quickly covered her mouth with her hand, while Zhou Lin and Shen Yuting were on the other side talking about other things and didn’t hear.

Wen Ran nodded, “I don’t know why either, and I always had no clue. I originally thought I was the only one out of the loop; turns out you didn’t know either.”

“How could I possibly know?” Bai Yiyi released her hand from her mouth, recalling what Fang Zhiwei said at the entrance of the neighborhood this morning, and blinked her eyes a few times, suddenly feeling sorry for Fang Zhiwei.

“Sister Wei likes my brother, but my brother doesn’t like her. Ah, matters of the heart are the hardest to tell.”

Wen Ran shook her head and sighed. She didn’t think Fang Zhiwei was a bad person, just that she was not the one her brother liked.

Bai Yiyi suddenly laughed, “Now that your brother and Fang Zhiwei have broken up, I’m not worried anymore.”

“Not worried about what?”

Wen Ran didn’t immediately understand the implication in Bai Yiyi’s words.

Bai Yiyi turned her head and glanced at Tongtong playing happily with other children, and said proudly, “Your brother used to always threaten me, saying he would take Tongtong away and could provide Tongtong a complete family and whatnot. Now, good, he and Fang Zhiwei have broken up, he has no girlfriend, so he can’t find a stepmother for Tongtong anytime soon.”

Bai Yiyi felt a bit guilty for thinking this way, but she really felt relieved, after all, that was how Gu Kai had threatened her before.
