Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1171: 1170 Bai Yiyi, you crazy woman

Tongtong hasn’t seen her daddy for so long that tonight she insisted on having Gu Kai sleep with her. Gu Kai had no choice but to coax her to sleep before he could leave.

Bai Yiyi escorted Gu Kai to the door.

Gu Kai stopped, his eyes narrowing as he looked at Bai Yiyi in front of him, his tone slightly indifferent as he said, “Don’t drink anymore in the future, it’s not good for Tongtong.”

Bai Yiyi was stunned for a moment.

Realizing what he meant, she instinctively retorted, “As if you never drink yourself.”

Perhaps it was the hint of sarcasm in her tone that displeased Gu Kai, his handsome face immediately darkened, and he sternly reprimanded, “Bai Yiyi, it’s been half a year since we last met, and you still haven’t corrected this habit of talking back.”

Bai Yiyi raised her eyebrows, “Who asked you to meddle in affairs that are none of your business? Go back and take care of Fang Zhiwei if you have the time.”

With that, without waiting to see if Gu Kai had left, Bai Yiyi slammed the door shut with a bang.

“Bai Yiyi, you crazy woman.”

Gu Kai dodged quickly; had he been a bit slower, his handsome face would have had an intimate encounter with the door.

He gritted his teeth and cursed under his breath, then took a deep breath while staring at the closed door to calm the anger in his heart before turning away.

When the Maybach approached the villa, from a distance, he saw a car parked at the entrance of his house.

Gu Kai’s eyes narrowed, he slowed down, and drove over slowly.

The car door opened, and Fang Zhiwei got out, drawing her coat around her as she stood in front of Gu Kai’s car.

“Why are you here?”

Gu Kai got out of the car, his tall figure standing beside the vehicle, looking passively at Fang Zhiwei a few steps away. It had been half a year since he’d seen her; she seemed thinner, but otherwise, no noticeable changes were apparent.

Fang Zhiwei didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she took her time studying Gu Kai. He was casually dressed, looking spirited, handsome, and elegant, with an air of careless grace.

Just as handsome as before he went abroad. No, he was even more handsome than before.

Even though they hadn’t seen each other for half a year, her heart still raced uncontrollably at the sight of him. Even as he stood there with his indifferent expression, she found this man incredibly handsome and charming.

“I heard you were back, so I came here to wait for you.”

She bit her lip lightly and spoke softly, her eyes fixed on him.

A profound look flickered in Gu Kai’s eyes.

Whether he took her words to heart was uncertain.

At any rate, he ignored the way she looked at him. His expression softened a bit, his voice even softer: “It’s very late. Go back home; we can talk another day. I’m tired too and need to go home to rest.”

“Sure.”

Fang Zhiwei smiled gently, her warm and considerate smile tinged with an undeniable hint of sadness.

She didn’t linger but instead turned, got into her car, and drove away.

When Gu Kai got home, his father, Gu Yan, was sitting in the living room waiting for him. Seeing him return alone, a flash of understanding crossed Gu Yan’s eyes, but he still casually asked, “Xiaofang was outside, did you see her?”

Gu Kai walked to the sofa and sat down, leaning back against it tiredly and yawning before answering languidly, “I saw her. She said she knew I came back to the country today, so she came to see me. Dad, you didn’t tell her, did you?”

Gu Kai’s return to the country had been a sudden decision.

He hadn’t told Mo Xiuchen and Ranran, wanting to surprise them tomorrow.

He arrived home today and had taken a nap, then went to see Tongtong.

Gu Yan picked up the teacup in front of him, took a sip, and calmly said, “No, although I think Xiaofang is not bad and treats you well, I won’t force you when it comes to matters of the heart.”

Before the New Year, on the night before Gu Kai went abroad, he proposed a breakup to Fang Zhiwei.

Throughout the more than half a year he spent abroad, he had not contacted Fang Zhiwei once. The only thing she did was send him a message on his birthday; besides that, she did not bother him.

Of course, no one knew that he and Fang Zhiwei had broken up.

Except for his father, Gu Yan.

“During these months you were abroad, Xiaofang continued interacting with Ranran and went to see Ziyi and the others at home. The blind date candidates that Professor Fang introduced to Xiaofang, she didn’t even meet them, just rejected them outright.”

Gu Kai frowned slightly, “Zhiwei and I have already broken up. Whether she goes on blind dates or not is none of my business. Dad, why tell me all this when you said you wouldn’t interfere with my love life?”

Gu Yan gave him a glare, “I’m just reminding you that Xiaofang might have been waiting for you to return. You proposed the breakup and then left the country. She wouldn’t be willing to wait without getting a reason that could convince her to let go, would she?”

Having said that, Gu Yan stood up and went upstairs.

Gu Kai raised his hand to rub his forehead and then took out his phone to make a call.

After a few rings, Mo Xiuchen’s somewhat melancholic voice came through, “Hello.”

“Xiuchen, I’m back in the country,” Gu Kai paused, then the corners of his lips lifted happily as he said.

“I’ve known you were back for a while. Did you really think that was a secret? Let’s talk about whatever it is tomorrow.” After saying that, Mo Xiuchen hung up on Gu Kai’s call.

**

The next day, as soon as Gu Kai woke up, Wen Ran’s call came through.

“Brother, Xiuchen said that you and Sister Wei had long since broken up, is that true?”

Wen Ran found out about this news half a year after Gu Kai and Fang Zhiwei broke up. When she heard this last night, she felt devastated.

Even roaming couldn’t be slower than this.

Mo Xiuchen, that guy, really kept it tight. He hadn’t even mentioned a word or hinted at it to her all this time.

Gu Kai’s mouth twitched slightly, and he candidly said, “Ranran, it’s true. I proposed the breakup to Fang Zhiwei before I went abroad.”

“How come I only found out now? Yesterday, when Fang Zhiwei asked me if you had returned, I felt it was strange.”

Wen Ran said sullenly, feeling like they were all keeping her in the dark.

“Ranran, Xiuchen told you not to worry too much, afraid that it would distract you and you wouldn’t be able to take care of the three little ones well. Now you know, don’t be angry, I’ll bring you a gift later.”

Gu Kai soothed her with a laugh.

“Forget about the gift. Since you and Sister Wei have broken up, hurry up and find me a sister-in-law to bring home. By the way, Sister Wei is coming over today to celebrate the birthdays of the three little ones. Won’t it be awkward when you two run into each other?”

Wen Ran thought her brother’s relationship was quite complicated.

Fang Zhiwei was his ex-girlfriend, and Bai Yiyi was the mother of his daughter.

Yet, today both Fang Zhiwei and Bai Yiyi would come. Previously, not knowing they had broken up, she didn’t think anything of it, but now that she did, she felt embarrassed for her brother.

“I saw her last night already, don’t worry,” Gu Kai said nonchalantly with a smile.

“You met her last night?” Wen Ran’s voice held not only surprise but also a vague sense of guilt. It was her who leaked the news of her brother’s return to Fang Zhiwei.

Of course, she heard it from Mo Xiuchen.

Although Gu Kai hadn’t told them, Mo Xiuchen still found out about his return to the country at the first opportunity and informed Ranran.

Gu Kai said gently, “She came looking for me last night.”
