Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1185: 1184 Are you the real mom?

“Mama, let’s drive!”

Tongtong, hearing her dad tell her mom to drive, immediately cheered happily.

She liked being held by her dad, and being with mom every day, it had been a long time since she was together with dad, ever since the night before last when she saw her real dad again, she had been constantly missing him.

Yiyi’s anger dissipated within Tongtong’s smile.

What could be more important than her daughter’s happiness? Of course, nothing.

Although Yiyi despised Gu Kai, this arrogant and unreasonable man, she couldn’t deny that Gu Kai’s love for Tongtong was no less than hers.

He truly cherished Tongtong, and she, no matter how much she did, couldn’t replace the fatherly love that Gu Kai gave to Tongtong.

“Tongtong, sit tight, mommy is going to drive now.”

Yiyi reached out and gently touched Tongtong’s little cheek, and Tongtong giggled, “Mommy, seat belt.”

“Haha, Tongtong is so amazing, knowing you need to fasten your seat belt. Hurry and buckle up, otherwise Tongtong will have to buckle it for you soon.” Gu Kai was somewhat surprised that Tongtong knew so much.

But then he thought that since Tongtong rides in the car every day, she naturally would know, just like how holding a phone means answering calls, holding a remote control means turning on the TV.

These are all the basics.

Yiyi smiled and nodded, fastening her seat belt. Gu Kai also pulled over his seat belt and fastened it.

After the Maybach hit the road, Gu Kai took out his phone and called Mo Xiuchen.

Yiyi focused on driving, occasionally looking through the mirror at Gu Kai sitting next to her, and Tongtong on his lap.

“Hello, Ah Kai, why haven’t you arrived yet?” The call connected, and Mo Xiuchen’s voice came through the waves, faintly hearing Momo’s laughter in the background.

“On the way, will be there soon.” Gu Kai placed the phone next to Tongtong’s ear, saying: “Tongtong, do you hear your sister’s laughter?”

“Sister, sister.”

Tongtong clutched the phone, happily shouting.

Yiyi watched Tongtong’s radiant smile, her lips unconsciously curved into a smile as well.

Tongtong was her joy, a child’s happiness was so easy to come by, any little thing, a sentence, a gesture, all could make her laugh happily.

Even if sometimes after crying, with tears not yet dry, she could be coaxed into laughter again.

What Yiyi loved the most was Tongtong giggling in her sleep, always laughing out loud, each time she heard her laughter in sleep, her heart would melt.

“Daddy, Mommy.”

After hanging up, Tongtong grabbed Gu Kai’s distinctly boned hand, amusing herself with it while happily shouting.

“Hmm.” Gu Kai’s mouth curled up with indulgent laughter, his eyes tenderly watching his daughter, he responded, and Tongtong continued to call out: “Daddy.”

Gu Kai’s smile deepened, “Tongtong, calling daddy and not talking?”

“Giggle, Daddy.”

Tongtong continued shouting, releasing Gu Kai’s hand, touching his smiling face, and then, pressed her own little cheek against Gu Kai’s chest.

Gu Kai’s smile froze for a moment.

A sharp pain, as if a hand was tightly grasping his heart, suddenly flooded over him.

For some reason, when Tongtong pressed her cheek against his chest, he was suddenly overwhelmed with intense guilt. He shouldn’t have left Tongtong behind; he was abroad for over half a year.

During those six months, although he took the time to call Tongtong every week and video chat with her for a few minutes, the entire Pacific Ocean still lay between them.

Tongtong could only see him and hear his voice but couldn’t, like other children, be held and cuddled in her father’s arms.

His hand gently stroked Tongtong’s head, pressing her tenderly against his chest, he whispered, “Tongtong, from now on, daddy will stay with you every day, okay?”

“Okay.”

Tongtong’s small hand rested on his chest, unusually calm instead of lively and giggly, quietly and docilely leaning in her father’s embrace.

Beside them, Bai Yiyi’s gripping on the steering wheel tightened slightly, sensing Tongtong’s irreplaceable dependence on Gu Kai, and hearing the deep self-blame in his words.

She thought, surely Tongtong must see other kids out playing, all held or carried by their fathers, or playing games together.

But she didn’t have that.

She pursed her lips and softly said, “In the future, whenever you have time, you can take Tongtong out to play, I won’t stop you.”

Gu Kai was tenderly gazing at his daughter in his arms; hearing Bai Yiyi’s words, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes as he looked up at her, puzzled.

Bai Yiyi explained lightly, “I often take Tongtong to Ranran’s house to play, and Tongtong probably sees Mo Xiuchen showering Momo and Xinxin with love, thus she really misses your company.”

Gu Kai nodded, his tone unusually gentle, “Alright, when I have time, I’ll take Tongtong out to play.”

Even if Tongtong couldn’t live with both her parents like other children, he couldn’t let her suffer.

Bai Yiyi hummed in response but added nothing more.

Resting in Gu Kai’s embrace, Tongtong unknowingly fell asleep.

When the car arrived at the amusement park, Tongtong was still not awake. Looking at her adorable sleeping face, Gu Kai felt reluctant to wake her up, “Let’s wait for Tongtong to wake up before getting out of the car.”

Bai Yiyi paused for a moment, then after being silent for two seconds, she said calmly, “While Tongtong is asleep, let’s talk.”

“Talk about what?” Gu Kai’s eyes slightly narrowed, a sharp light flashing deep within them, soon returning to an indifferent look.

He figured that Bai Yiyi must want to discuss Zhang Siming; she must like that man. This woman, with no discernment, could accept just any man?

Unaware of Gu Kai’s conjectures about her, Bai Yiyi pursed her lips, preparing her words mentally before saying, “I know you don’t like me, and I don’t expect you to treat me well or even see me as a friend. I just hope that when Tongtong is around, you won’t scorn or mock me; I don’t want to leave a shadow in Tongtong’s young mind.”

“When did I ever mock you in front of Tongtong?” Gu Kai frowned, he only mocked her when Tongtong wasn’t present.

“Besides, your attitude towards me is not good either; you also don’t like me, right?” Gu Kai’s lips curled into a mocking smile, if she could be gentler, would he treat her that way?

Bai Yiyi rolled her eyes, “Yes, I don’t like you either. We both find each other unpleasant, so in the future, when you have time, you take Tongtong out. When I have time, I’ll take her out. It’s best to not do it together.”

“Bai Yiyi, are you Tongtong’s biological mother?”

Gu Kai glanced at her somberly, “You’re not saying we should stay apart because we dislike each other, but because you’re afraid I’ll interfere with your chances of seducing men, sabotaging your plans, right? Let me tell you, a child as young as Tongtong doesn’t just need a father or a mother, but needs both parents.”
