Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2941: Chapter 2942: Open and Honest

Actually, Su Zhen hasn’t been studying medicine for too long, but the doctors in the Medical Alliance all praise her innate talent, and she’s especially diligent, constantly reading and learning, hoping that one day she can become a true doctor.

Unfortunately, all of this has nothing to do with her now.

Bai Ruozhu sees her daydreaming and knows what she’s thinking. Bai Ruozhu secretly sighs, knowing that the stubbornness of the Su Family can only be resolved by Su Zhen herself.

She and Jiang Yichun moved the child with the worst fever to the room next door and placed ice blocks around him.

But to avoid the cold from harming the child, the ice blocks weren’t placed too close. As soon as the child’s temperature dropped, he was immediately moved out of the room.

The child was somewhat dazed by the fever, opened his eyes to look at them several times, but was too tired and quickly fell asleep again.

Bai Ruozhu instructed Su Zhen and the village women to take turns watching him, and at intervals, use a clean cloth to dab water on the child’s lips. Finally, the night passed safely.

”You go back to the town to rest for a bit, then keep an eye on the shop over there, just in case the other party has more plans.” Bai Ruozhu said to Jiang Yichun.

He had accompanied her all night and was running errands throughout the day, making her feel very concerned. But if he stayed in the Su Family Village, he probably wouldn’t be able to get proper rest during the day.

Jiang Yichun indeed had other matters to attend to, and after informing Bai Ruozhu about a few things, he finally left.

Soon, Muyu brought over breakfast, saying that his master was worried his wife might be too busy to eat properly.

Not only was there her breakfast, but there was also a basket full of vegetarian steamed dumplings and rich, fragrant meat porridge.

This porridge couldn’t have been freshly cooked; he must have instructed it to be prepared the night before.

The basket had a logo from Yingkelai, as he knows she’s picky, he directly went to Yingkelai.

Bai Ruozhu felt warm inside. To be married to a man who constantly keeps her in his heart, what more could she want?

”Smells so good!” Ao Song leaned over. ”Sister Ruozhu, you’re truly blessed.”

Bai Ruozhu’s smile reached her eyes. ”We will eat this; the vegetarian ones will be given to the children.”

She called over Su Zhen to distribute them to the children. Jiang Yichun had prepared a sufficient quantity, and Bai Ruozhu invited Su Zhen and the assisting women to have some as well.

Breakfast was lively, with the children excitedly exclaiming how delicious the food was, their appetites improving, and visiting parents unable to contain their smiles, seeing the children getting better.

”Bai Daren’s dumplings are truly fragrant; I could smell them even in the yard. The children are lucky.” A woman praised.

Another woman next to her said, ”Didn’t you see the basket? It’s from Yingkelai; we can’t afford it on normal days.”

”This must cost quite a bit, right? How could Bai Daren afford the expense?” The women whispered, and soon someone ran home, bringing eggs and rice to the yard.

They also left two good cooks to help to prevent Bai Ruozhu from spending more.

Bai Ruozhu was quite happy that the people of Su Family Village didn’t feel entitled just because she was wealthy; she was pleased with their sincerity.

However, she also noticed something strange: why hadn’t any men from Su Family Village shown up today? Did they all go to the fields?

Meanwhile, in Luohe City, a large group of men were walking with branches on their backs, carrying a long banner at the front, with large characters written: The elderly and young of Su Family Village apologize with remorse to Bai Family Toothpaste Shop!

”We apologize to Bai Family Shop! The child’s illness has nothing to do with Bai Family Toothpaste; we misunderstood Bai Family, yet Bai Family is still helping to treat the children in the village. It is us, Su Family Village, who owe Bai Family an apology!” The Village Chief shouted tremulously.

Tian Feng supported him, ”Village Chief, let me speak. Be mindful of your health.”

”Let me speak; it’ll make me feel better. I couldn’t sleep at all last night!” The old Village Chief said, tears streaming, his voice growing louder again, ”I’ve always been straightforward in life, but how could I be so confused in my old age, making such a mistake? I apologize to Bai Family.”

Early this morning, as the shops on the busiest street were just opening, they encountered such a sight. The shop assistants and shopkeepers stopped busying themselves with work and crowded the entrance to watch the spectacle.

”What’s going on? You weren’t threatened by Bai Family, were you?” Someone asked.

”No, no one can threaten all of Su Family Village; we came voluntarily. Otherwise, our conscience wouldn’t be at peace. Our children got sick and infected each other. We didn’t figure it out and wronged Bai Family, causing Bai Family Toothpaste Shop to suffer great losses. Yet Bai Family repaid grievance with kindness, helping our village children to be treated. If we don’t do something, are we still human?” Tian Feng said loudly.

Su Kang was overwhelmed with tears, knowing he bore the brunt of the responsibility for this matter, and now he was seeking redemption.

The people of Su Family Village walked through the streets once, even passing by Bai Family Toothpaste Shop, Wa Xiu quickly got the news and sent someone to inform Bai Ruozhu.

At the same time, the dark guard also reported the news to Jiang Yichun.

Jiang Yichun had only rested for a while, got up, and said, ”Ignore it; let them go. Otherwise, they wouldn’t feel at ease.”

”Yes, Master.”

...

On the side of Su Family Village, Bai Ruozhu looked at Su Zhen, ”Where are the men in your village? I thought they went to the fields. Just now, I walked outside and saw no one in the fields either.”

Su Zhen felt a bit embarrassed, ”N-nothing.”

”Are you trying to keep this from me?” Bai Ruozhu said, pretending to be angry.

Su Zhen, hearing this, hurriedly said, ”No, no, they went to Luohe City to apologize and make amends.”

Bai Ruozhu was slightly stunned but soon understood the intentions of Su Family Village.

Initially, they indeed misunderstood and blamed Bai Family, but the turmoil in Luohe City wasn’t intentionally stirred up by them; it was Qin Kaichang’s plan.

However, the people of Su Family Village felt remorseful and thought it should be explained clearly, so let them go.

After all, Su Family Village consists of honest people, who know how to correct their mistakes.

The men of Su Family Village paraded the streets of Luohe City for an entire day, even alarming the county magistrate Mei Zhenghua. He feared the men of Su Family Village would stir up more trouble and hurriedly dispatched several officers to watch them, reporting any incident immediately.

By afternoon, the incident had spread throughout Luohe City; some believed it, others did not, and went to the streets to see the men of Su Family Village by themselves.

The people of Su Family Village tirelessly explained, one losing their voice while another took over, one unable to articulate, so more people supplemented.

If thirsty, they asked for water from nearby shops, and for lunch, they only ate the dried food they carried. This day turned out to be even more exhausting than doing farm work.

But within their hearts, they found relief, and didn’t feel as guilty and remorseful.

When they returned to Su Family Village, everyone went to see Bai Ruozhu, this time with smiles on their faces, feeling especially forthright.
