Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2935: Chapter 2936: Not Like a Doctor

Bai Ruozhu glanced at the Village Chief. This old man was quite selflessly dedicated, and it’s no wonder the people of Su Family Village respected him, but why was he so stubborn?

One should know that many places in Danliang Country now have women’s schools, and there are female officers in the Palace, women are no longer confined to their homes.

This era is more open than any dynasty she knew from history, especially towards women, yet she didn’t expect that there were still villages with such outdated thoughts, and this village isn’t even that far from the Capital City.

She pulled her thoughts back and said to Gouwa’s mother, ”Take the children to the central area, I’ll look after them together.”

”Okay, okay.” Gouwa’s mother was somewhat worried, ”But the baby said he was hungry.”

Bai Ruozhu reached out to take the child, ”I’ll take him, you go back and make porridge, with so many people watching, I won’t do anything to your child.”

Gouwa’s mother blushed, ”Please don’t say that, I was ignorant before, you saved my Gouwa, you are a benefactor to my family, how can I doubt you?”

Bai Ruozhu smiled at her, ”Hurry up then, make more, see if other children need some too.”

”Okay, okay.” Gouwa’s mother ran off happily.

Gouwa was a little boy over four years old, looking at Bai Ruozhu with a curious face. Bai Ruozhu smiled at him, making his little face blush.

”Are you a fairy?” he asked in a small, somewhat hoarse voice.

Bai Ruozhu’s smile deepened, ”Not a fairy, but an immortal lady.”

Poof, Ao Song couldn’t help but laugh, ”Sister Ruozhu, you’re fooling the kid.”

”Not at all, a fairy is a young lady, I’m old enough to be an immortal lady, right?” Bai Ruozhu laughed, mocking herself.

”What do you mean old, if you don’t do up a married woman’s hairstyle, everyone would think you’re still unmarried,” Ao Song spoke truthfully, considering how well Bai Ruozhu maintained herself; her skin was so delicate as if water could be squeezed out, and the Spatial Hot Spring wasn’t soaked for nothing.

Their voices were low, the villagers couldn’t hear what they were saying, and just felt that they seemed relaxed, so there shouldn’t be anything serious.

Actually, hand, foot, and mouth disease isn’t scary without complications, children’s resistance can gradually recover, but if it develops into encephalitis, it can pose a great life threat.

Encephalitis complicates with symptoms like drowsiness, vomiting, convulsions, and so on. Just now, Gouwa not only had a high fever and seizures but also encephalitis, but fortunately, it wasn’t too late to treat, Bai Ruozhu used needles to control his condition, but he still needs good care as it could recur at any time, so Bai Ruozhu didn’t agree to let Gouwa’s mother take him home.

Fortunately, according to Zhong Xin’s description, most of the children were still considered normal, there seemed to be no complications.

”By the way, Village Chief, you should rest too. Your health is too prone to illness, we don’t want to be distracted by having to treat you as well,” Bai Ruozhu said.

The Village Chief felt a bit embarrassed and coughed twice, ”Tian Feng, I’ll leave it to you, I’ll go back to rest, an old man is useless.”

Su Zhen also nodded to Bai Ruozhu and took the initiative to help the Village Chief walk back.

The Village Chief didn’t push her away either, it seemed his anger had dissipated a lot, mainly because Su Zhen gave up her pursuit and promised not to leave the village.

Tian Feng was Tian Bing’s father, he greeted Bai Ruozhu and led the group to the new house used for the Village Chief’s eldest grandson’s wedding.

A large group of people made quite a commotion moving over, and the doctors inside had already noticed and came out of the room.

Bai Ruozhu glimpsed, there were four doctors in total, one of whom was the fat-headed, big-eared Doctor Ge that Zhong Xin mentioned, who liked to eat pig’s head meat.

Even from a few meters away, Bai Ruozhu smelled the pig’s head meat, partly because of her keen sense of smell, and partly because the man had eaten it with his hands, his clothes stained with greasy marks, obviously having wiped his hands on them instead of properly cleaning them after eating.

Bai Ruozhu’s face darkened a bit, a doctor being unhygienic was already bad enough, and now he was caring for children, who have a contagious disease, cleanliness and disinfection should be prioritized, yet he was so sloppy, showing he didn’t take treating the village’s children seriously at all.

The other three, she didn’t know their medical skills either, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t assume they were bad doctors just because they hadn’t joined the Medical Alliance.

”Doctor Ge, this is Lady Bai, she just saved Gouwa and is here to assess the other children’s illnesses,” Tian Feng said to Doctor Ge and his group.

The four doctors seemed to regard Doctor Ge as their leader, as they all stood behind him after he spoke, showing considerable hostility towards Bai Ruozhu and her group, as if about to confront them.

”Where’s your Village Chief? Too many cooks spoil the broth, do you distrust our medical skills? If so, why invite us instead of believing in the Medical Alliance?” Doctor Ge spoke loudly with a bad temper.

Bai Ruozhu suspected he hadn’t heard Tian Feng’s introduction clearly, possibly hearing ”Lady Bai” as ”Doctor Bai”; otherwise, wouldn’t he be afraid seeing an officer, he had quite the courage.

Tian Feng felt embarrassed, quickly bowing and apologizing, ”Sorry, sorry, Lady Bai just saved Gouwa, and she has experience with the children’s illness, we just don’t want to see the children suffer anymore, the promised consultation fee will still be given to you.”

”Do we care for your filthy money?” Doctor Ge suddenly raised his voice, ”You think we’re beggars to be handled with some filthy money? You’re insulting our medical skills!”

Upon his shout, the children inside the house were scared into sobbing.

”Oh no, it’s my Huzi.” Huzi’s dad said anxiously, ”Huzi, don’t be scared, daddy’s here.”

Huzi’s dad said, heading towards the house, but Doctor Ge stopped him.

”Until it’s clear what’s going on, no one’s allowed inside!” His face full of aggression, for a doctor, he seemed more like a thug.

Huzi’s dad was startled, quickly saying, ”The child is sick, he can’t keep crying, let me take a look, isn’t Uncle Tian explaining it to you?”

Doctor Ge suddenly pushed Huzi’s dad, making the sturdy man stagger backward.

”I said wait until it’s clear, don’t you understand my words?” he angrily shouted.

Bai Ruozhu squinted her eyes, the older children inside were five or six years old, if scared, they could run out themselves, but they were only crying and not escaping, could it be they were trapped?

Huzi’s dad also got angry, ”What do you mean I can’t check on my crying child, why are you being unreasonable?”

Tian Feng saw him about to lose his temper and hurriedly called people to hold Huzi’s dad back, saying, ”Don’t be rude to guests.”

”How am I being rude when my child is crying so much, why won’t you let me see, is this treating an illness or kidnapping?” Huzi’s dad shouted in anger.

Inside, Huzi was already crying breathlessly, with other children joining in loudly.
