Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2932: Chapter 2933: Maybe It Really Was a Misunderstanding

Gouwa’s mother began to cry and tried to hold Gouwa, but Bai Ruozhu immediately stopped her, ”Don’t hold him, it’ll make him hotter and his temperature will rise again.”

In ancient times, any infectious disease was called an epidemic. What the children in Su Family Village have is exactly the hand-foot-mouth disease that frequently breaks out in modern kindergartens. Due to its rapid transmission, kindergartens immediately close and disinfect the classroom once a child is diagnosed.

During this period, parents will also pay attention to their child’s condition, observing for rashes or rising temperatures.

Fever in children often worsens at night. If the caregivers are negligent and the child’s temperature becomes too high, it could lead to a high fever convulsion.

It’s broad daylight now, and Gouwa is already having convulsions from his high fever. It’s excusable for his mother not to understand medicine, but what was the doctor called to Su Family Village doing? Just eating pig head meat?

In fact, hand-foot-mouth disease in children is not geographically confined in modern times; it can appear anywhere. But after Bai Ruozhu formed the Medical Alliance, doctors from various places have been collecting symptoms, and she found that this type rarely appeared in the North at this time, so the people in Su Family Village did not know what it was.

”Today, everyone here and everyone who has been in contact with Su Family Village, if you have children at home, before going home, don’t touch the children or anything at home. Immediately change your clothes, wash and sun them, to avoid infecting the children!” Bai Ruozhu said again.

Su Zhen wiped her tears, walked up to the Village Chief, and knelt with a thud.

Her kneeling was so forceful that even Bai Ruozhu’s knees felt the pain.

”Su Zhen...” Tian Bing, unable to hold back, exclaimed with a look of pity.

”Grandpa, what Bai Ruozhu said is all true. This case is documented in the Medical Alliance’s records. If you don’t believe it, send someone to ask in the South. While this doesn’t take a child’s life, without proper care, the child will suffer and could develop a fever leading to danger.” She sniffled, ”I know you won’t forgive me, but the children in the village are innocent. Don’t be stubborn and let Bai Ruozhu treat them.”

Seeing the Village Chief still hesitating, she suddenly tore off the hat on her head, ”Grandpa, I swear every word is true. If I lie to you, let me die a horrible death!”

”Shut up!” The Village Chief angrily shouted, upset with his granddaughter, but also couldn’t bear to let her swear such a venomous oath.

”I won’t be a doctor in the future, nor will I leave the village. First, let Bai Ruozhu treat the children!” Su Zhen said, bowing her head to the ground.

She felt distressed and guilty now. If she hadn’t been so stubborn, her grandfather wouldn’t reject the Medical Alliance, wouldn’t have handled things so drastically, and the village children wouldn’t be in such danger. Gouwa nearly died just now.

And, she brought such trouble to Bai Ruozhu—she truly was committing a sin.

Bai Ruozhu felt sorry for Su Zhen, a good girl who, due to outdated feudal thoughts, had to give up her dreams and efforts just to awaken her grandfather and the villagers.

Actually, hand-foot-mouth disease wasn’t common at this time. Perhaps due to less pollution and strong constitutions, these infectious diseases weren’t prevalent.

Within the Medical Alliance, there are records of these rare infectious diseases, compiled by Bai Ruozhu herself using memories from her past life. But as they were uncommon, not every doctor bothered to study them thoroughly.

Su Zhen, however, studied them carefully, showing that she’s diligent and truly loves learning medicine. Otherwise, how many women could manage to get through those difficult medical books?

The Village Chief finally couldn’t bear it anymore, reaching out to help his granddaughter, but Su Zhen refused to get up.

”Grandpa, Gouwa’s situation will occur again. Today, thanks to Bai Ruozhu’s presence, Gouwa narrowly escaped danger. What if other children face danger too?” Su Zhen choked with emotion.

She knew that if it were her earlier, she couldn’t have saved Gouwa, and she had seen the case records. If Gouwa’s condition isn’t treated promptly, even if the child survives, they could end up with cerebral palsy or physical disabilities, ruining their future.

The Village Chief looked at Tian Bing’s father and then at the others, ”What’s everyone’s opinion?”

Tian Bing quickly looked at his father, ”Dad, Su Zhen wouldn’t deceive the villagers. We can’t delay any longer.”

”Let’s follow Su Zhen’s advice, Village Chief.” Tian Bing’s father said.

The others nodded as well, ”Let’s save the children first. Perhaps it’s really a misunderstanding.”

Bai Ruozhu breathed a sigh of relief, turned to Achun, ”I’ll take people to Su Family Village to treat the sick children. You take some men and find out if anyone in Luohe City is causing trouble.”

”Alright, don’t worry.” Jiang Yichun took off his outer garment and draped it over her.

Her clothes were used as a cushion for Gouwa, leaving her a bit underdressed.

Bai Ruozhu smiled at him, ”Then I’m off.”

”Okay.” Jiang Yichun was a bit reluctant, but he had other tasks. This incident may have begun as an accident, but someone surely stirred the flames afterward, requiring investigation.

Otherwise, if people think they can easily bully them, there’d be no peaceful days ahead?

Bai Ruozhu reached the main gate, turned to Wa Xiu, and said, ”Manager Wei, send word to the Medical Alliance to dispatch doctors here to treat the injured citizens at the Bai Family’s expense.”

Mei Zhenghua was embarrassed, hurriedly stepped forward to pay respects, ”Bai Ruozhu is too kind, this happened at the County Government Office due to my poor management. Allow me to handle it.”

Bai Ruozhu then realized she had forgotten all about the County Magistrate, somewhat apologetically nodded to him, ”Then I’ll trouble Magistrate Mei with this. I’ll send five doctors to assist you.”

”Alright, alright, thank you Bai Ruozhu.” Mei Zhenghua felt better. Bai Ruozhu still regarded him, otherwise, how could he command Luohe City’s citizens in the future?

”Manager Wei, tell the Medical Alliance to send ten doctors to Su Family Village to join me, and bring extra disinfectant powder.” Bai Ruozhu instructed again.

”I’ll say it myself...” Su Zhen impulsively began but then fell silent, deflated. She had just promised her grandfather and the villagers she wouldn’t be a female doctor anymore and had momentarily forgotten.

Bai Ruozhu saw her red-rimmed eyes, feeling some sympathy, she thought for a moment and said, ”Su Family Village should also send a few people to assist, preferably those who understand medicine. Su Zhen, can you?”

Su Zhen swiftly looked towards the Village Chief, who didn’t oppose this time, ”Okay, when you go back, I’ll arrange for several women to assist you.”

Gouwa’s mother also hastily said, ”I can help too.”

Bai Ruozhu smiled at her, ”You definitely need to help; you have to take extra care of your own child.”
