Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2937: Chapter 2938: Where Are the Parents?

Bai Ruozhu rubbed her temples, thinking this isn’t just being easily deceived; it’s sheer ignorance!

No wonder these few are so arrogant. This is their bandit nature. When bandits enter the Village, ordinary people dare not resist. They let them take their belongings and leave, considering it an expense to avoid disaster.

Thus, bandits usually act imposing and act particularly domineering in front of villagers.

Perhaps Doctor Ge and his group learned to be imposing in the Stronghold but lack judgment. Moreover, the dark guard is hidden, so they only saw the three interfere and bring one guard, not realizing Bai Ruozhu and others are not to be trifled with.

People from Su Family Village were also devastated; they ran around outside half the day looking for a doctor, only to find bandits!

Bai Ruozhu kicked Doctor Ge again, ”It’s good that you choose a proper life, otherwise you might have been beheaded by now. But impersonating doctors to deceive people delayed treatment for the Village’s children, and almost caused a child’s death today, which is a heinous crime worthy of beheading.”

”I really am a doctor,” Doctor Ge argued, but his voice diminished.

”What about them? Are all of you doctors? You can only treat external injuries, and have treated a few children before?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Doctor Ge was too scared to lift his head as he muttered, ”Before going up the mountain, I treated villagers...”

Before he finished, Bai Ruozhu increased the pressure, causing him to scream in pain.

”Still refusing to tell the truth?” Bai Ruozhu sneered, ”Then I won’t ask you anymore; my subordinates aren’t as polite as I am. Let them interrogate you. I still need to treat the children.”

She finished speaking and really let go of her foot, then turned to hold the child’s hand again.

”Sister, are you a heroine? Can you teach me martial arts?” the eldest child asked curiously.

”Aren’t you afraid?” Bai Ruozhu chuckled, ruffling his hair.

The child shook his head, ”I’m not afraid. You’re a good person. I want to be as powerful as you.”

His parents hurriedly scolded him, ”You’re not well yet, don’t trouble Master Bai.”

”It’s okay. Once they are better, I’ll teach them some exercise boxing,” Bai Ruozhu said.

The boys cheered as nearly all of them wanted to learn martial arts and become heroes.

”For now, let the children breathe some fresh air in the yard. Unrelated people should leave first. Family members of the Village’s other uninfected children should be cautious, change clothes, wash hands before contacting the children, and avoid letting healthy children come here. Also, inspect the children’s hands, feet, and mouth every day. Report immediately if any rashes are found,” Bai Ruozhu instructed.

This time, no one dared to refute. Tian Feng reminded those not needed to disperse and emphasized Bai Ruozhu’s words again.

Without using Jianqi, Wei Jiu and others frightened Doctor Ge into telling the truth.

”My name is Ge Jin. I used to be a butcher in the village. I’d sometimes treat injuries myself. One day, I got in a fight and severely beat someone. I fled to the mountain Stronghold and became a bandit. But I never did anything terribly wrong. Later, we left the mountain and sometimes treated people or worked at the Pier,” he explained.

Doctor Ge, or rather, Ge Jin was not actually a doctor.

Ge Jin continued, ”That day, after loading cargo, we overheard Su Family Village looking for a doctor and specifically avoiding the Medical Alliance. I thought I had some medical skills, so I approached them.”

”The person you injured might not be dead, but possibly incapacitated. Is this not terribly wrong? Pretending to be a doctor and delaying children’s treatment, isn’t this wrong?” Bai Ruozhu sneered, ”Should I stab you a few times, leaving you incapacitated but alive, would that be acceptable?”

Ge Jin and the others quickly knelt and begged for mercy. Bai Ruozhu didn’t want violence in front of the children, so she told Jianqi, ”Send them to Magistrate Mei, explain the situation, and let him handle them according to law.”

”Master, please spare us, give us another chance for reform. Don’t be prejudiced against us for being former bandits. We’ve done nothing significant,” Ge Jin pleaded.

”What more do you want to do? I might grant you a chance, but who grants a chance to those harmed by you?” Bai Ruozhu’s face turned cold, ”Punishment is necessary for you to remember the pain and genuinely change. You should be thankful for the children being here today; otherwise, you’d already be corpses.”

Ge Jin was about to speak but Ao Song kicked him hard in the chest, ”Talk more and I’ll kill you outright.”

Afraid to speak further, the four were quickly taken away by Wei Jiu.

Bai Ruozhu called two guards to clean the room, sprinkled disinfectant Drug Powder around, and opened doors and windows to disperse the smell.

At this point, Gouwa’s mother arrived with hot porridge. Bai Ruozhu and Ao Song served it to the children, teaching them to cool it before eating.

Suddenly, a little girl started crying, ”I don’t want porridge; I want to eat pig’s head meat!”

Tian Feng’s expression darkened, as this issue resulted from Ge Jin’s actions.

Bai Ruozhu was speechless; rural families rarely eat meat. The girl probably seldom had it, and pig’s head meat, being flavorful and greasy, is more appealing than plain rice porridge.

However, in her current condition, pig’s head meat is unsuitable, which Ge Jin foolishly allowed.

”Drink the porridge first. When you’re better, I’ll treat you to something better,” Bai Ruozhu said, patting the girl’s head and putting a piece of candy in her porridge.

Seeing this, other kids requested the same. Bai Ruozhu fairly gave each a piece of candy.

Even after that, the little girl continued crying, insisting on pig’s head meat, leaving Bai Ruozhu feeling helpless.

”Uncle Tian, where is this child’s mother? Call her to comfort the child,” Bai Ruozhu urged, realizing only the mother could calm her down; lest people think I’m mistreating the child.

”Alright, I’ll send someone to call her,” Tian Feng dispatched a person, reluctantly adding, ”Where’s Wife of Niu San? And Niu San himself?”

”Niu San went to find his wife, not sure if he found her,” the responder had a strange look and laughed secretly.

Bai Ruozhu found this odd, recalling earlier inquiries about two child watchers, one being Niu Family’s Daughter-in-law, who Zhong Xin mentioned was summoned by a man.

She initially thought Zhong Xin was just tactless. Observing Su Family Village’s reactions, Bai Ruozhu suspected rumors about Niu Family’s Daughter-in-law were common knowledge, and now it seemed Niu San went to catch someone in adultery?

But can the couple neglect their child?

Bai Ruozhu was displeased, ”Find the child’s parents, do they care about their child at all?”
