Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2926: Chapter 2927: Self-Inspection First

”Th-thank you.” Zhao Shu said awkwardly.

Little Dengdeng chuckled, walked over and held his horse’s reins, saying, ”There will be a teacher among three, even though I’m younger than you, I can ride, so I can teach you, so there’s no need to feel embarrassed.”

”Oh, oh, okay.” Zhao Shu looked dumbfounded, are kids nowadays this smart? Speaking so articulately, he found himself at a loss for words.

...

Luohe City is to the west of the Capital City, where the most famous waterway pier is located, it’s also the boarding point for heading west via waterway from the Capital City.

Bai Ruozhu and the others had visited Luohe City several times before going to Kyoto.

Trade has developed well in Luohe City; whether it’s private or official ships, they all make purchases at Luohe City before departure.

Moreover, some goods get on and off ships at Luohe City; it’s quite prosperous and one of the top big cities near the Capital City.

Su Family Village is in the southwest of Luohe City, not far from it. Not all villagers have the surname Su, but a Su family built this village here years ago. Over the years, people of different surnames have settled, but the name ”Su Family Village” has become habitual.

After traveling for two days and nights, Bai Ruozhu and the others finally arrived at Luohe City.

”You guys go rest, I’m going to see my subordinates.” Bai Ruozhu noticed Ao Song was very tired and remembered the first time they met. Back then, Ao Song was quite pampered; wherever they went, they would lay down a cashmere carpet after getting off Miao Tuo, sprinkle flower petals and gold leaves along the way. Now, following them day and night, made her feel somewhat guilty.

”Astrologer, accompany Ao Song to find an inn, I’ll contact you later,” Bai Ruozhu said to the Astrologer.

”Alright.” Astrologer replied.

Bai Ruozhu rushed to the Commerce Association in Luohe City, Jianqi was already there waiting.

Before setting off, they made some arrangements at home, and Jianqi, Muyu, had promptly led a team of dark guards to Luohe City ahead of them.

”How are things?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”They don’t allow our doctors to examine them, paid them silver, some accepted, others refused, saying they only want justice.” Jianqi said, ”But we checked, other Shops were checked too, no traces of tampering were found.”

Bai Ruozhu showed a worried look, Jiang Yichun held her hand and said, ”You go check the Shop and arrange the doctors, I’ll lead Jianqi and the others to investigate secretly, we’ll cooperate openly and covertly, it should be resolved quickly.”

”Alright, don’t overwork yourself, rotate shifts with Muyu and the others,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Don’t worry.” He smiled at her and left with Muyu and several dark guards.

Bai Ruozhu turned to Jianqi, ”Let’s go to the Shop first.”

”Yes.”

The Bai Family’s Toothpaste Shop was located on the most bustling street in Luohe City, generally bustling with clientele, but now it was closed with a temporarily closed sign.

”Something happened to Bai Family. Don’t use the toothpaste anymore, I heard several children died, so pitiful.”

”Really? I’ve used it for months without any issue, my wife even said my mouth started smelling better.”

”It’s the children who had issues, are you a child?”

”My son also uses it, his teeth are really white.”

”Stop using it, before long, your son’s mouth might also get sores, quickly.”

”Ah... I still have an unused tube, should I get a refund?”

”Get it! Call some people, do they dare not refund?”

”Okay, I’ll go back and see who else wants a refund.”

The two thus decided, Bai Ruozhu heard clearly from not too far away on the street, her eyebrows tightly furrowed.

Rumors tend to exaggerate facts, clearly no child had died, yet it’s spread that several children had.

”Master, should I send someone to explain to them?” Jianqi asked.

Bai Ruozhu raised her hand, ”No need, go see the shopkeeper first.”

She quickly walked towards the Toothpaste Shop, attracting attention from people on the street, many pointed at her.

Jianqi knocked on the door, ”Open up, the owner is here.”

The shopkeeper hurriedly opened the door, his eyes reddened at the sight of Bai Ruozhu.

He knelt down with a thud, ”Master, it was my incompetence that tarnished the family’s reputation.”

The person in front wasn’t an ordinary shopkeeper, but one of the stewards sent by her master Lin Zhenghui, named Wa Xiu, quite capable, and equally loyal.

Bai Ruozhu helped him up, ”Wa Xiu, don’t rush to blame yourself, focus on solving the issue.”

”Yes, with Master here, we can feel more assured.” Wa Xiu said.

”Tell me in detail what’s been happening lately, especially the peculiar aspects, besides, I need to check the inventory, let’s talk as we move.” She said walking towards the shop’s backyard.

”Yes.”

Wa Xiu elaborated carefully while Bai Ruozhu listened and checked the ointment in the inventory. She randomly checked some toothpaste, opened it to inspect the paste inside, all with no issues.

Both the ointment packaging and paste hadn’t been tampered with.

”Look at the toothbrushes.” Bai Ruozhu continued.

She trusted her people’s diligence, but needed to fully confirm their products were fine before arranging the next steps, otherwise, if things didn’t turn out as planned, it would be embarrassing.

Doing a good job themselves represented the biggest sincerity.

”Master, children in Su Family Village started developing mouth sores last month. At that time, the first child was in great pain and refused to brush their teeth. The family thought it was due to heat and tried remedies without success. They stopped using our toothpaste, but the sores healed by themselves in half a month.”

Wa Xiu continued, ”After that, children in Su Family Village started developing similar sores, leading them to conclude it was caused by our toothpaste.”

Bai Ruozhu frowned, ”Perhaps the first child caught an infectious disease that’s spreading to others.”

”That’s what we said too, but the Su Family Village people refuse to let our doctors examine the children, appearing particularly unwelcoming. I visited several times and sensed their village chief wasn’t friendly towards us, fearing he might have been bribed.” Wa Xiu added.

As Bai Ruozhu listened, she had checked several toothbrushes; toothbrushes back then were quite crude, unable to compare with modern ones, but she specially hired skilled craftsmen, continuously searching for new materials to make them. Nowadays, they were much better than the ones she initially made after transmigrating.

She meticulously examined the bristles and handles, finding no significant problems.

”Some woods have gotten damp, be mindful of the storage, don’t sell damp toothbrushes to customers.” Bai Ruozhu stated.

”Alright, I’ll have regular checks conducted,” Wa Xiu replied.
