Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2927: Chapter 2928: The Assistant Captured

At this moment, hurried footsteps were heard outside, and a young servant rushed in anxiously, ”Manager Wei, something bad has happened! Zhong Xin has been captured by people from the Su Family Village, and the villagers are shouting that they want to beat him to death!”

”What? What happened?” Wa Xiu asked urgently.

”Zhong Xin wanted to sneak into the village to check on the children’s condition to record the symptoms, but was caught by the people of Su Family Village,” the young servant said.

”This is simply nonsense!” Wa Xiu’s face turned red with anger. ”Didn’t I tell you not to act rashly? This will cause misunderstandings again.”

He looked embarrassedly at Bai Ruozhu, ”Master, Zhong Xin is a clerk from the shop, a quite enthusiastic and clever young man, but not very steady. It’s my fault for not managing my people well, I should be punished.”

”Whether to reward or punish can be discussed after the matter is resolved. Let’s go to Su Family Village and take a look. Zhong Xin probably had good intentions, let’s hope nothing bad happens,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Manager Wei led the way, and Bai Ruozhu and Jianqi and others followed, riding horses toward Su Family Village.

Just halfway there, they saw a group of people on the road escorting a young man, all cursing.

”I really didn’t want to destroy the evidence. The doctor said that recording the changes in the children’s symptoms is the only way to find a cure. Don’t you all want the children to get better soon?” the young man shouted loudly.

”Stop talking nonsense. You’re from the Bai Family, only ghosts would believe your words! You merchants just want to profit from us poor village households, your hearts are black as coal.”

”I said how can the ointment make teeth whiter, it must be because of poison. It burns the teeth white, but the children can’t stand it, their mouths are all blistered.”

”We’ve already said the Bai Family members are not allowed in our village. We’ve already hired several doctors to take care of the children, we don’t need your fake kindness!”

”You come in now, who knows what you’re planning to do? Are you thinking of harming our children again?”

The people of Su Family Village were very agitated, but fortunately, although they cursed, they merely pushed and shoved a little, no one deliberately hit the young man.

”Master, that’s Zhong Xin.” Wa Xiu said anxiously.

Bai Ruozhu dismounted quickly and walked over, with Jianqi and the others quickly following behind.

She walked up to the people of Su Family Village and solemnly bowed, ”Dear villagers, I am Bai Ruozhu, the shopkeeper of the Bai Family’s toothpaste shop. My clerk had no intention of offending you, so let’s talk things out and please let him go.”

”So you are that heartless owner?” the village chief shouted, his elderly mouth with missing teeth making the words sound airy.

”There must be some misunderstanding. I swear the Bai Family does not sell problematic toothpaste...” With that said, a tube of half-used ointment was thrown over.

Luckily, she reacted quickly and dodged it by turning her head.

Jianqi and the others became immediately angry and hurried to stand in front of Bai Ruozhu.

The people of Su Family Village were a bit scared. After all, they were ordinary folks, while Jianqi and his companions were specially trained dark guards, with a simple glare carrying an aura of danger.

”What do you guys want to do? Want to fight?” the village chief shouted, then began coughing violently due to his poor health.

”Jianqi, stand back and wait over there,” Bai Ruozhu instructed.

Jianqi and the others hesitated but met Bai Ruozhu’s stern gaze and obediently retreated to one side.

”Step back a bit further, don’t scare them,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Master...” Jianqi wanted to speak but was silenced by a sharp look from Bai Ruozhu and retreated back ten or so meters.

During this time, the people of Su Family Village did not speak, each one looked at Bai Ruozhu in some alarm, although Bai Ruozhu was not losing her temper with them, how could a mere young woman have such an imposing presence?

Bai Ruozhu gave them a slight smile and bowed solemnly, ”My clerk handled the matter poorly, I will punish him. Please release him, he is still young, just a child.”

”A child? What about our children? Did you spare our children?” someone shouted.

”That’s why I came here personally. I want to treat the sick children. I am the Chief Female Doctor from the Palace and the leader of the Medical Alliance. I guarantee with my reputation that I will do my utmost to treat the sick children, never to harm them to cover up anything,” she said.

She bowed solemnly again, ”This is my attitude, and the Bai Family will take full responsibility for this matter. But now, curing the children is what matters most. I hope everyone can trust me this once.”

”Why should we trust you?” the village chief asked angrily. ”You’re afraid it will affect business, but your business is thriving day by day, who knows how much filthy money you’ve made. Why should we trust you?”

Bai Ruozhu was also quite helpless. How did making money become filthy money? The initial point of trade was to exchange goods, meeting each other’s needs, fair and reasonable.

She was providing things people needed and charging a reasonable fee, so how could it be considered filthy money?

Of course, she could only complain internally, arguing with the people of Su Family Village now would only complicate issues further.

”You leave now, we won’t beat the child, just send him to the Government Office, and hand him over to Luohe County Magistrate to question him,” said the village chief.

Bai Ruozhu breathed a sigh of relief, thinking this group of people was going to drag Zhong Xin to the shop gate to beat him and cause trouble. Fortunately, they were only sending him to the government, and once they investigated clearly, they could release Zhong Xin.

”Owner, I really didn’t do anything. I even played with a child for a while, just wanted to check their symptoms. The doctor said that if we can understand their symptoms better, we can find the right medicine. But I saw the hired doctors eating, drinking, and chatting, not caring for the crying children at all,” Zhong Xin cried out, speaking a pile of words.

Bai Ruozhu wasn’t surprised by this kind of situation. Their Medical Alliance was brimming with positive energy, and most of the outstanding doctors had joined the Medical Alliance.

Su Family Village insisted on finding doctors outside of the Medical Alliance, they were either stubborn and unwilling to ’associate’ with the Medical Alliance or had inadequate medical skills and poor character, unsubscribed by the Medical Alliance.

Of course, if one encountered a stubborn doctor but skilled, it would be a blessing, but according to Zhong Xin’s findings, evidently, the hired doctors were not very responsible.

”You talk nonsense, Doctor Ge has been so good to my child, even my child said they liked him,” someone called out.

Zhong Xin retorted indignantly, ”Doctor Ge, isn’t he the fat one with a plump face? He gave the children pig head meat to eat, of course the children said he was good, but I know that children with fever shouldn’t be eating greasy food, right?”

Bai Ruozhu narrowed her eyes, ”Will your children be alone with the doctor? Didn’t your village assign anyone to keep an eye on them at all times?”

”The Li family matriarch and the Niu Family’s daughter-in-law are watching them, this little clerk is lying,” another person shouted.

”I am not lying!” Zhong Xin, looking around seventeen or eighteen, still had the competitiveness of a young person.
