Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2936: Chapter 2937: Doctors and Bandits

Bai Ruozhu really couldn’t hold back any longer. As expected, Doctor Ge and his group were no good. Any doctor with a bit of ethics and conscience would prioritize the patient’s condition over anything else, instead of locking the children up and ignoring their frightened cries.

She stepped forward, and Doctor Ge glared at her, ”What are you doing?”

”Seeing patients, get lost!” Bai Ruozhu had run out of patience and had no intention of being polite.

”Telling me to get lost? Who do you think you are?” Doctor Ge shouted through gritted teeth, suddenly swinging towards Bai Ruozhu’s face.

The people of Su Family Village stared wide-eyed, and someone shouted urgently.

”Watch out!”

If this lady got knocked down, who knows how badly she might get hurt.

Tian Bing moved quickly, rushing forward, but in the next moment, his vision blurred, and he heard a blood-curdling scream.

The scream was naturally not from him, nor was it Bai Ruozhu’s voice, but rather from the fierce-looking Doctor Ge.

Bai Ruozhu was seen stepping on his head, her jade-like face cold as if covered with frost.

”I told you to get lost. If you provoke me again, today will be your death day!” she said, stepping over Doctor Ge’s face and walking straight towards the room past the three doctors who stood there, dumbfounded.

The other three finally reacted, charging at Bai Ruozhu together. With this move, Bai Ruozhu discovered something new: all four of them, including Doctor Ge, were practitioners. However, compared to her, they were far inferior.

She ignored the other three, as Ao Song was already enthusiastically dealing with them. She pushed open the door and walked in.

The room had a good orientation, naturally well-lit, but as soon as she entered, there was a foul smell.

It was the smell of rotting food scraps mixed with the excrement and urine of small children.

She followed the crying sound and found another bedroom inside where the children were locked up.

Knocking sounds could be heard, ”I want my mom, I want my mom!”

Bai Ruozhu quickly quickened her pace, walking to the door.

”I’m here to save you. Step aside from the door.” She looked up and discovered the problem.

The door had been tampered with from the outside, with a wooden stick inserted, preventing it from being opened.

The crying inside subsided a bit, probably because the children hadn’t expected a woman to come.

”Don’t be afraid, I’m a female doctor here to treat you, and I brought you candy. Step back a little to avoid being hit by the door.” Bai Ruozhu said softly.

When she said ”treat”, the crying resumed inside, so she quickly mentioned she brought candy, and the crying subsided instantly.

She jumped up, using her dagger to chop off the wooden stick on the door, finally allowing it to be opened.

The door opened, revealing a roomful of pitiful children staring at her.

The youngest was three, and the oldest was five, each looking dirty with tear-streaked faces.

Bai Ruozhu hurriedly took out the candy she had promised, which she had specially made for the children at home. It wasn’t as sweet as regular candy, included ingredients to protect teeth, and soothed throats. When the kids at home clamored for candy, they ate this ”Healthy Candy”.

She took out a box of candy from her Space, opened it, and distributed it among the children, noticing that although they were eagerly looking, none of them grabbed at it. This showed the children of Su Family Village were very well-behaved and polite.

Bai Ruozhu reached out to pull the smallest child’s hand, ”Your relatives are outside, come with me.”

The child pulled his hand back, appearing a bit embarrassed, lowering his head, ”Dirty, dirty.”

He was only three and not very articulate, but he understood enough to say his hand had a red rash and was unfit for Bai Ruozhu to hold.

Bai Ruozhu raised her hand to gently touch his hand and said warmly, ”It’s okay, I will cure you.”

The oldest child looked up at her and said, ”We can’t go out, or Doctor Ge will get angry.”

”It’s okay, I’ve already told him to get lost.” Mentioning Doctor Ge again, Bai Ruozhu got angry, her tone not very good, only regretting it afterward. Saying ”get lost” in front of children wasn’t very appropriate.

Fortunately, the children didn’t focus on that word, only looking at her in surprise, ”He’s very fierce, can hit people? Aren’t you afraid?”

Bai Ruozhu laughed, ”He can’t beat me; did he hit you?”

”No, he smashed a table with one slap, scared me to death.” The oldest child said.

Bai Ruozhu extended her other hand to him, ”Let’s go, time to leave together.”

By this time, Tiger’s father had already come in, hurriedly rushing over to pick up Tiger.

”Tiger, Dad is here, don’t be afraid!” Tiger’s father had tears in his eyes. What on earth were they doing, handing sick children over to such people.

Yet Tiger happily dug out half-eaten candy from his mouth and tried to shove it into his father’s, ”Dad, sister gave me candy, it’s good, you eat!”

”Dad has a toothache, you eat.” Tears welled up in Tiger’s father’s eyes, finally unable to hold them back, they flowed freely.

Pretending not to notice, Bai Ruozhu led the children outside to the Yard.

By this time, many parents came forward to check on their own children and, only after ensuring they were unharmed through repeated questioning, felt reassured.

”Why was the door latched?” Bai Ruozhu walked over and kicked Doctor Ge, asking.

Doctor Ge, having gotten a thrashing from Ao Song, now had a face more swollen than a pig’s head.

”If it wasn’t latched, what if they ran around? What if they ran out and got lost or something happened? Wouldn’t that be our responsibility?” he retorted defiantly.

”So you can lock them up like animals? Were you treating them properly?” Bai Ruozhu kicked him again, ”Where did you doctors come from? Who taught you medicine with these ethics?”

Doctor Ge cried out in pain, not expecting to hit a hard wall, and quickly said, ”Lady hero, have mercy, I used to be part of the stronghold, but I’m particularly skilled with external injuries. Later, the Imperial Court managed us, so we came down from the mountain to make a living.”

”What!” Even steady Tian Feng couldn’t help but shout, ”What stronghold?”

Ao Song burst out laughing, ”Hahaha, you refused to find doctors from the Medical Alliance and ended up hiring some bandits down here. You should be thankful that Ruozhu came to handle this matter. Otherwise, inviting gods is easy but sending them away is hard. Let’s see how you could have gotten rid of these bandits.”

”We haven’t been robbing for a long time, washed our hands clean with golden basins, so we aren’t really bandits anymore.” another doctor defended.

This defense was also an admission that they were once bandits. Although it was said not to judge a hero by his past and not to discriminate against bandits, are you a proper doctor?

A bandit treating external injuries, where did you get the confidence to treat children? Did you think these farmers were easy to deceive?
