Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2288: Chapter 2287: Mechanical Arm

By evening, Jiang Yichun had learned about Duke Du’s public apology.

”Who told you at home? Jianqi and Yizi aren’t big mouths, and the second sister-in-law wouldn’t say anything, right?” Bai Ruozhu asked in surprise.

”Someone saw it at the time, and it’s spread throughout the Capital City. Some people say I’m going to make a comeback, and even Du Zhongshu wouldn’t dare to provoke us, so he hurried to apologize.”

Bai Ruozhu thought it was funny. These people were really imaginative, and she didn’t take it to heart.

”The Emperor is planning to open up maritime trade and wants to send people to Fusang Country. The Imperial Court will arrange ships.” At the mention of going overseas, Jiang Yichun quickly shared today’s news.

Bai Ruozhu nodded. This was a good thing. After all, official ships were bigger and safer, and having a trade document made it easier to sail.

”Did the Emperor mention who would accompany us?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”Mo Beishan.”

”Ah?”

Bai Ruozhu almost forgot about that troublemaker. She was really doubtful about the safety of having this person with them on the journey.

”Mo Beishan and the Mo Family made significant contributions in the recent battle. He is now a fifth-rank martial officer,” Jiang Yichun said.

”Well, at least he’s someone we know.” Bai Ruozhu shrugged helplessly.

The two discussed for a while longer before resting.

The next morning, Jiang Yichun had breakfast with Bai Ruozhu before heading out. Bai Ruozhu then entered the Space to nourish her soul, bowing in respect before Master Pudeng’s golden statue before sitting cross-legged to the side.

Although she didn’t like the ancient customs of bowing and kowtowing, Master Pudeng had sacrificed his own lifespan to lift her curse and used his remains to help her nourish her soul. It was a gesture of life transformation for her, so she should bow to him.

She calmed her mind, vaguely feeling her aura becoming more solid. She wasn’t sure if it was psychological or the effect of nourishing the soul.

After about half an hour, she opened her eyes again, and her eyes were clear and bright.

”Master, who exactly are you? Did that mysterious woman really fall into demonization?” Bai Ruozhu mumbled with some emotion.

Women are most interested in love affairs. She was very curious about the stories between Master Pudeng and that woman, imagining it to be a woman who nurtured poisonous insects falling in love with a monk. The monk had feelings for her too, but couldn’t betray his beliefs, so he continued to chant scriptures and meditate, while the woman couldn’t let go and hid near the temple, saying that she would fall into demonization the moment the monk became a Buddha.

These were Bai Ruozhu’s guesses, without much basis. But she was certain about one thing: the woman lived under the cliff near Xinchan Temple, not only out of reluctance but also because she couldn’t bear to part with Master Pudeng. She wanted to be closer to her loved one and occasionally sneak a look at him.

It’s a pity no one knew where the woman ultimately went.

Bai Ruozhu stepped out from the Spatial Tree, and Furball zoomed over and clung to her, acting coy.

”You’re saying that if you devour more of those poisonous insects, you’ll level up?” Bai Ruozhu widened her eyes. ”Little guy, where do you think I can find so many poisonous insects? Do you think I can encounter them every day?”

Furball twisted its body, acting all cute and playful, making Bai Ruozhu unable to hold back her laughter. If others saw a poisonous insect acting so cutely, they might be astounded, wouldn’t they?

”Alright, if there’s a chance, I’ll definitely catch poisonous insects for you to devour.” Bai Ruozhu touched its head with a finger, and it happily went off to play.

Bai Ruozhu also patted Xiaohei’s head and said, ”In a few days, I’ll find a way to get you a better set of battle armor, and then you’ll be even more formidable.”

Xiaohei raised its neck and let out a low growl, looking very majestic.

After leaving the Space, Bai Ruozhu drafted a list of materials she needed to purchase and asked Jianqi to hand it over to the person she had appointed in the Capital City to procure. Even if it cost a bit more money, she wanted everything bought as soon as possible.

”Ruozhu, it’s my first time in your Capital City, won’t you show me around?” Fo Lanying ran over, pulling Bai Ruozhu to go out and play. Bai Ruozhu thought about it and realized there weren’t many fun places in the Capital City.

”Today, let’s first go to the Beauty Pavilion to make you even more beautiful. Tomorrow morning, we’ll go to the manor outside the City to have some fun,” Bai Ruozhu suggested.

”Great, let’s go then.” Fo Lanying’s face lit up with excitement.

Bai Ruozhu asked someone to call for Si Yihuan and Yizi, and the four women headed to the Beauty Pavilion together. Jianqi and Yuan Licheng naturally followed; Jianqi was on duty, while Yuan Licheng was particularly attached to Fo Lanying.

Si Yihuan felt a bit envious and mumbled, ”Their sweethearts accompany them everywhere, while my second brother just sulks with me.”

”Achun isn’t with me either. Men have their matters to attend to. You and your second brother should have reconciled by now. I think he’s already softened up. Say a few nice words tonight, and it’ll work,” Bai Ruozhu said with a mischievous wink, lowering her voice. ”Or just take charge, what’s there to be afraid of?”

Si Yihuan’s face flushed cherry-red down to her neck, hastily checking if Fo Lanying and Yizi had heard. Luckily, they were engrossed in their conversation, paying no attention.

”Ruozhu, you’re just too much,” Si Yihuan grumbled.

Bai Ruozhu chuckled quietly. Her second sister-in-law was truly shy.

The four of them thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Beauty Pavilion. Doing beauty treatments together is the best way to strengthen bonds among women.

”Lan Ying, you’re skilled in mechanical techniques. If you’re free these days, could you help make two mechanical arms for a friend of mine?” Bai Ruozhu mentioned the letter she received in the morning to Fo Lanying.

Senior Fox had sent a message saying he was on his way to the Capital City. The letter was sent earlier, indicating he would arrive in a couple of days.

”What kind of mechanical arms?” Fo Lanying asked curiously.

”He’s Achun’s senior. During a political upheaval, their master captured him to extract information, and he had his arms cut off. Initially, he asked me to learn mechanical techniques to help make mechanical arms for him, but I don’t have much talent in that area. Even now, I haven’t been able to make suitable arms for him.” Bai Ruozhu smiled helplessly.

”In the Jiuli Clan, naturally born warriors don’t learn mechanical techniques. It’s usually those who are slightly less skilled in combat who do, so it’s natural you haven’t mastered it. Your combat skills are already strong enough,” Fo Lanying chuckled.

Bai Ruozhu playfully slapped her, ”Stop buttering me up and tell me if you can help.”

”Of course, I can. Once I see him and take his measurements, I’ll make them,” Fo Lanying assured.

Bai Ruozhu beamed, ”That’s wonderful. He should arrive in a few days. I’ll introduce you then.”

”Alright, leave it to me.”

Having finally arranged everything for Senior Fox gave Bai Ruozhu a huge sense of relief.

But what about Senior Fox’s future? Although she felt she was being overly concerned, after all, being part of the Meng Family made her Senior Fox’s sworn sister.
