Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2265: Chapter 2264: Sworn Siblings

Bai Ruozhu saw this young monk getting startled easily, and she secretly laughed, continuing to maintain a stern face, saying, ”Why are you so nervous, young benefactor? Could it really be true? Then I have to report it to the Government Office and let them investigate thoroughly.”

The young monk panicked upon hearing this, knowing that Zhu Ning’s identity couldn’t be exposed, and it would be even more troublesome if the Government Office found out about her existence.

He quickly glanced at Bai Ruozhu, thinking that as long as he revealed a little to her without letting her know who that woman actually was, she wouldn’t pose a threat, and he wouldn’t be against the abbot’s intentions, right?

Moreover, he felt no sympathy for Zhu Ning at all. If it weren’t for her causing trouble like this, how would Bai know? And why would she want to report it to the Government Office?

”Benefactor Bai, you really misunderstood.” The young monk lowered his voice, ”With Master Pudeng overseeing our temple, how could such things happen? I’m not hiding the truth; there is indeed a woman living in the backyard, but like you, she is a distinguished guest of the temple. We absolutely did not capture her.”

Bai Ruozhu deliberately showed a disbelieving expression, and the young monk hurriedly added, ”That woman’s husband died accidentally, and she was lucky enough to conceive her husband’s posthumous child. However, her husband’s family is fighting over the inheritance, and someone doesn’t want her child to be born. That’s why she was entrusted to our abbot. Heaven values life, so we couldn’t just watch her unborn child come to harm.”

”Who entrusted her to you? How can I believe you with just a few words? If you can convince me, I will not only refrain from reporting it to the Government Office but also help keep your secret and not tell anyone.” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Sigh, it was her husband’s servant. The abbot was in danger during a trip over a decade ago, and he saved the abbot. The abbot gave him a string of prayer beads, saying he owed him a karma, and if he ever needed help, he could come to Xinchan Temple to find him. Recently, that person brought the woman here. The abbot didn’t want to get involved in these worldly matters, but one cannot go back on their word, so we had no choice but to temporarily keep her safe.”

The young monk looked cautious, and what he said was mostly true, except he replaced Quanrong Clan with Family.

”So that’s how it is; it seems I misunderstood. I won’t mention this again, so rest assured, little master.” Bai Ruozhu bowed respectfully to the young monk.

The young monk let out a huge sigh of relief and hurried his pace to lead Bai Ruozhu to the front hall, afraid that she might question him further.

When she saw Yizi again, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but quicken her pace and went over, holding Yizi’s hand and asking, ”How have you been recovering? Was it hard on the way here?”

Yizi was equally excited, her smile almost reaching her ears, ”I’ve been fine for a while. We didn’t rush our journey, so it wasn’t tiring at all.”

Bai Ruozhu looked at Jianqi and gave him an approving nod, ”Jianqi, thank you for your hard work.”

Jianqi still maintained a composed face, ”You’re exaggerating, Master.”

Bai Ruozhu shrugged at Yizi. Jianqi was indeed overly serious.

”Master, it was all thanks to my big brother’s care along the way. Oh, and I haven’t had a chance to tell you, I’ve sworn to be siblings with Brother Jianqi.” Yizi’s face was full of joy, as if she was genuinely happy.

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth dropped open, completely stunned. What was going on? How did the two end up becoming sworn siblings?

Jianqi nodded, ”I will treat Yizi like my own sister, so rest assured, Master.”

Bai Ruozhu felt a little bitter, ”Rest assured? Yeah, right!”

She examined Yizi, but Yizi didn’t appear to be upset. Could it be that she had already come to terms with it?

”Let’s go. I’ll take you to the backyard to rest first. The curse on me hasn’t been completely lifted yet, so I have to stay here for a while.” Bai Ruozhu reluctantly pulled Yizi’s hand and didn’t intend to deal with Jianqi, heading towards the backyard with strides.

After they reached the backyard, Bai Ruozhu said with a stern face, ”Yizi, you should still share a room with Fo Lanying, and Yuan Licheng, you’ll have to squeeze in with Jianqi.”

”Madam, there’s no need to be so formal. The room isn’t too small, so it won’t be crowded.” Yuan Licheng’s relationship with Fo Lanying had deepened recently, so he felt more grateful to Bai Ruozhu.

”Everyone is finally together again, so we have to celebrate today.” Fo Lanying said happily, ”Why don’t we go down the mountain later for a good meal?”

”You all go and have fun.” Bai Ruozhu walked away disinterestedly.

Fo Lanying was left standing there, puzzled, wondering what was going on. Wasn’t Bai supposed to be happy now that Yizi had arrived?

”Sister Lan Ying, we just came up the mountain, so we’re not going down again. Why don’t we wait until the Master finishes her things, and then we’ll go down for a good meal?” Yizi asked with a smile.

”Oh, that works too.” Fo Lanying agreed but kept thinking this was strange.

Jiang Yichun greeted Jianqi and went back to practicing. He noticed the odd behavior of the young lady at home and didn’t even have to think to know that Jianqi and Yizi didn’t end up together.

Alas, as the saying goes, the Emperor is not in a hurry, but the eunuch is anxious. But he couldn’t let Ruozhu hear that; otherwise, she would definitely blow up at him.

Yizi looked toward Bai Ruozhu’s room, her eyes revealing a hint of sadness, but it was quickly masked by her smile. She picked up her baggage and went back to her room to unpack.

Fo Lanying chased after Bai Ruozhu into her room, holding her hand and asking, ”What’s wrong with you?”

”Don’t mention it. You know Yizi likes Jianqi, and Jianqi has a good impression of Yizi, right?” Bai Ruozhu said angrily.

Fo Lanying nodded, ”Yeah, I saw that.”

”But Jianqi, that blockhead, insists that he doesn’t want to marry. I went to great lengths to give them time alone, and they end up becoming sworn siblings!” Bai Ruozhu helplessly rubbed her forehead. If she had known, she would have let someone else take care of Yizi for a while.

Fo Lanying pursed her lips, ”Are they out of their minds? What’s going on here? Your guard is really not getting it.”

”Exactly! And who knows why Yizi agreed to it. That girl is too easygoing.” Bai Ruozhu felt a pang of sorrow for Yizi. Even if she and Jianqi couldn’t be together, she didn’t have to accept being a sister to someone she liked. Wouldn’t it be uncomfortable to call him ’big brother’ every time?

Fo Lanying’s eyes twinkled, and she suddenly slapped her hand, exclaiming, ”Got it! We need to give Jianqi a strong dose of medicine!”

Bai Ruozhu was startled by her and quickly replied, ”Don’t do anything rash. Jianqi’s personality is cold and slow to warm up. If you push too hard, other issues might arise.”

Fo Lanying chuckled mischievously and whispered in Bai Ruozhu’s ear for a long time, making Bai Ruozhu look up in shock, nearly bumping her chin.

”Are you crazy? This sounds like a bad idea. Don’t cause any trouble.” Bai Ruozhu said, pouting.

”Don’t worry; just leave it to me. If worse comes to worst, we’ll force the rice to cook, since Jianqi is not someone who shirks responsibility.” Fo Lanying smiled evilly.
