Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2260: Chapter 2259: How Did You Even Come Up With That?

After a short while, Jiang Yichun brought some food back to the room and handed it to Bai Ruozhu.

”Eat something first, then rest for a while. I’ve already told Dad and Jianqi that we’ll stop for a day before continuing on our journey.”

Bai Ruozhu gave him a playful glare and said, ”It’s all your fault. Always causing trouble all day long.”

”When did I cause trouble all day long? I only cause trouble at night. Do you want me to start causing trouble during the day too?” Jiang Yichun grinned mischievously.

Bai Ruozhu took the chopsticks and lightly tapped them on his slender fingers.

”If you dare cause trouble again, I’ll seriously get mad at you.”

Jiang Yichun suddenly leaned in and kissed the tip of her nose. Bai Ruozhu was so startled she quickly pushed him away. Jiang Yichun laughed softly and said, ”Don’t wrinkle your nose, it looks ugly.”

Bai Ruozhu widened her eyes, ”If you think it’s ugly, don’t look at it! You can go find someone pretty. There are plenty of pretty young girls now; you might as well look for them.”

Jiang Yichun laughed as he pulled her into his arms and said softly, ”What young girls? To me, there’s only you. How could those other women compare to you?”

”Smooth talker!” Bai Ruozhu muttered, but her heart was secretly pleased.

In another room, Fo Lanying applied ointment on Yuan Licheng’s wound and wrapped it with clean gauze.

”Change your clothes; I’ll mend this one for you,” Fo Lanying said awkwardly, turning her head.

Yuan Licheng expressed joy, ”Alright, alright, I’ll change immediately.”

He stood up and started undressing. Fo Lanying screamed in fright, ”Why are you undressing right away? Let me leave first.”

Saying this, she dashed out of the room as if trying to escape for her life.

Standing outside the door, she breathed heavily. While treating Yuan Licheng’s wound just now, his clothes were already pulled down quite a bit, so by pulling casually, his upper body was exposed.

Yuan Licheng had somewhat dark skin, exuding a strong hormonal aura. Though he didn’t look muscular, he had all the necessary muscles, and his physique was enviably well-proportioned.

Fo Lanying quickly covered her flushed face. She couldn’t think about it anymore; she needed to quickly forget the image she just saw—it was too... well...

”I’m done.” Yuan Licheng’s voice came from inside the room. Fo Lanying snapped back, hurried into the room, grabbed his discarded clothes, and dashed out again.

”Lan Ying, wait!” Yuan Licheng called out, but Fo Lanying’s face was red to the neck. Although he was already clothed, she couldn’t help but recall the previous scene.

”I’ll bring the mended clothes back,” she hastily uttered before disappearing into the room she shared with Yizi.

Yuan Licheng was stunned for a moment, then a smile appeared on his face. That girl must be shy.

She had just expressed concern for him, so it wasn’t just his wishful thinking to be clinging to her. Yuan Licheng was happy but then recalled Fo Lanying leaving the city heartbroken earlier, nearly getting hit by a horse carriage. He couldn’t help but feel guilty again. Why was he throwing a tantrum? Whatever had happened was in the past.

Soon, there was a knock on the door, and Jiang Yichun pushed it open and walked in.

”I think you’ve misunderstood something,” Jiang Yichun began.

This task was given by his wife. Since he had done stupid things before, he had to keep making amends now. If not, he wouldn’t bother whether Yuan Licheng misunderstood or not.

Yuan Licheng still looked at Jiang Yichun with hostility and said coldly, ”Whether there’s any misunderstanding is none of your concern; Xiao Ying will tell me.”

Jiang Yichun’s expression turned cold, ”Do you think I want to talk nonsense with you? If it weren’t for my wife’s instructions, I wouldn’t bother doing such a boring thing.”

He then recounted how he had used Fo Lanying before and added, ”There is nothing between her and me, or else my wife wouldn’t have let you come along.”

After hearing this, Yuan Licheng glared at him and said, ”What kind of man bullies a girl like Xiao Ying? It’s just because she doesn’t have parents to protect her, right?”

Sighing, he continued, ”Forget it. You’re a man in love. Since Xiao Ying doesn’t hold a grudge, I don’t care anymore. But if you dare threaten or use her again in the future, I won’t spare you!”

Jiang Yichun snorted, ”Don’t worry, I don’t have such interests.”

Then he turned around and went back to his own room.

”What did Yuan Licheng say?” Bai Ruozhu asked, her face full of curiosity.

”He said he won’t hold it against me, but if I provoke Fo Lanying again, he won’t let me go,” Jiang Yichun replied, annoyed.

Bai Ruozhu covered her mouth and laughed, ”Yuan Licheng is quite a character; he’s good to Lan Ying.”

Jiang Yichun rolled his eyes, ”Hmph, is he as good as I am to you?”

”Is this even comparable?” Bai Ruozhu raised her eyebrow.

”No, absolutely not.” Jiang Yichun realized. If he was unhappy with Yuan Licheng, wouldn’t that mean he’s a bit jealous? He figured he should get along well with Yuan Licheng, lest his wife misunderstood.

Bai Ruozhu nodded with satisfaction and said, ”Don’t compete with him again. People might think you’re fighting over Lan Ying.”

Jiang Yichun’s mouth twitched, and he immediately said seriously, ”I won’t fight him, no matter how he provokes me.”

Bai Ruozhu giggled; she knew the real reason for his worry. Still, since he’d done something foolish before, this was well-deserved.

A day later, the group continued their journey. Yizi noticed Fo Lanying mending clothes for Yuan Licheng and felt a change in the atmosphere between them. Then, looking at the cold-faced Jianqi, her heart grew heavy.

Was there really no hope for her and Brother Jianqi? Even with the entanglements between Fo Lanying and Yuan Licheng, they still ended up together. Why couldn’t she?

But feelings can’t be forced, so she could only keep them hidden away and try to learn to let go.

Bai Ruozhu was observant, and she noticed Yizi’s reaction. She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. When would that fellow Jianqi ever wake up?

After riding for two days, Yizi suddenly fell ill.

Bai Ruozhu blamed herself for not being considerate enough. Girls Yizi’s age are very sensitive, and she should have paid more attention to her.

Jianqi looked at Yizi with worry and a hint of guilt in his eyes. He should have understood Yizi’s feelings.

Bai Ruozhu initially wanted to stay for a few more days, but Jiang Yichun took the opportunity to speak to her alone, ”Let’s first find a high monk to lift your curse. Have Jianqi stay and look after Yizi. Once Yizi recovers, they can catch up to us. It will surely take time to lift a curse, so they’ll have enough time to meet up with us.”

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes lit up, ”Achun, you’re quite clever. It’s impressive you thought of that.”

”How could I not be clever and still manage to pursue you? Giving them a chance to spend some time alone might even deepen their relationship,” Jiang Yichun said proudly. Nothing compared to his wife’s praise.

”Alright, let’s do it,” Bai Ruozhu agreed.
