Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2278: Chapter 2277: Demon Catcher

Jiang Yichun helped lift Master Pudeng’s golden statue and placed it in Space’s small forest.

”Place it next to that tree,” Bai Ruozhu pointed to the small tree in the middle. She vaguely felt it would be better there.

Jiang Yichun placed Pudeng’s golden statue over there, only to see faint light sprinkling down from the tree, enveloping Pudeng’s golden statue.

”Huh?” Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but exclaim because she found that the pitch-black curse tree on one side was trembling slightly, as if it had shrunk a little.

This curse tree had absorbed the monster’s black Qi and was growing towards the sky; she was really afraid it would leave hidden dangers. Now that the curse tree was restrained, she couldn’t be happier.

Jiang Yichun, with limited eyesight, couldn’t see these subtle changes. After Bai Ruozhu explained, he was also happy.

”Didn’t expect Master Pudeng to help us again. Did he foresee this before his death?” Jiang Yichun said thoughtfully.

”It’s possible,” Bai Ruozhu replied, though her mind drifted far away.

Who is the woman who said she would enter into magic? What is Master Pudeng’s true identity? Could he really be a demon? And where is his ancestral land?

But soon Bai Ruozhu was relieved. Since Master Pudeng said his corpse could help Bai Ruozhu nourish her soul, it shows he had already calculated that Bai Ruozhu couldn’t find his ancestral land in a short time.

Or maybe she could only uncover this secret when the opportunity arises, so thinking about it now is pointless.

Let nature take its course.

Soon the two left Space and heard cries from the temple. Besides the temple’s monks, many nearby villagers came to memorial upon hearing the funeral bell.

Bai Ruozhu also felt sad and said to Jiang Yichun: ”Let’s leave after attending Master Pudeng’s funeral. By then, your eyes will have completely healed.”

”Alright,” Jiang Yichun agreed.

”Your father is quite upset; you should go keep him company,” Bai Ruozhu thought of Gao Zhou’s previous reaction. He probably felt he hadn’t repaid Master Pudeng, but instead had repeatedly troubled him.

”Alright, I’ll go now.”

After Jiang Yichun left, Bai Ruozhu went to check on Yizi again. By this time, Yizi had already fallen asleep. She was weak due to head trauma and even amidst all the crying outside, she still slept soundly.

”Master, what should I do about Yizi like this?” Jianqi said in agony.

Bai Ruozhu glared at him, ”Now you’re asking me what to do? Where were you before? Why couldn’t you face your own heart earlier?”

Jianqi lowered his head deeply, and after a moment, said: ”I haven’t had any peaceful days, so I didn’t dare think about getting married. I didn’t realize after all these events, Yizi leapt off the cliff for me, that I was such a bastard!”

”Then you need to think clearly, do you really like Yizi now, or do you just feel guilty and indebted, making you want to be with her. Yizi is someone I’ve brought out, and I know her nature well. Even if she’s kind and gentle, she wouldn’t want you to be with her out of guilt.” Bai Ruozhu said bluntly.

Without hesitation, Jianqi said, ”I truly like her, and I’ve thought it through clearly over this day and night. Before, I couldn’t face my own heart and didn’t dare to think I would fall for her, but now I know very clearly.”

Seeing his sincere expression, Bai Ruozhu nodded in satisfaction and said, ”Alright, I’ll figure out a way to help Yizi recover. Don’t worry too much, and don’t be too eager around her if she’s not better yet, you might scare her.”

”I understand.” Jianqi’s mouth was bitter because Yizi had been very resistant to him before she slept. Now it turned out to be him pursuing Yizi longingly.

Bai Ruozhu checked Yizi’s pulse again, then went out of the room to see Yuan Licheng. As soon as Fo Lanying saw her, she wished she could find a hole to hide herself in. Bai Ruozhu glared at her, ”Hide? No matter how much you hide, it won’t cover up your mistake.”

Yuan Licheng hurriedly mediated, ”Mrs Bai, it’s not Lan Ying’s fault, I didn’t handle it well; I overreacted.”

”Since you’re injured, I won’t say much to you, but Lan Ying shouldn’t get carried away. Everything should have a measure. Luckily, no lives were lost this time, or would you have regretted it for a lifetime?” Bai Ruozhu said sternly.

Fo Lanying quickly nodded, ”I understand. I’ll definitely be less reckless in the future.”

Bai Ruozhu felt she had said enough; they were quite scared this time.

”Master Pudeng has reached Nirvana. If you have time, offer him incense. We’ll leave in a few days,” Bai Ruozhu said again.

”Alright, we should,” Yuan Licheng replied.

Mentioning Master Pudeng brought Bai Ruozhu’s mood down; she left Fo Lanying’s room and slowly walked to the front hall.

Outside, there was a sea of crying, not feigned, but genuine, heartfelt sobbing from followers mourning Master Pudeng.

Abbot Pu Zhu led the monks to perform rites for Pudeng, whose relic was placed before Buddha, emitting a gentle glow.

Suddenly, footsteps were heard outside the hall. A group of people wearing Daoist robes hurried over. Judging by their attire, they were from some Daoist temple or sect.

The leading man was about fifty years old, with slightly grizzled beard and a solemn face, even with some hostility.

”Finally, that demon Pudeng is dead. I, the old Daoist, must prove today that he was a demon!” The leading Daoist’s voice rang out, sounding particularly jarring amidst the crying.

Pu Zhu was shaken, stood up to glare at the old Daoist, angrily shouting: ”Qiu Zheng, you’ve falsely accused my junior brother more than once. He once allowed you to use demon techniques against him to prove his innocence without retaliating, but facts proved you’re just spreading slander out of jealousy. Now my junior brother has reached Nirvana, yet you come to slander him again. How can Mount Longhu call itself the righteous faction with such disgraceful behavior?”

”I never admitted he wasn’t a demon. Back then, I was merely less skilled and couldn’t capture him.” The old Daoist, named Qiu Zheng, mentioned his lack of skill with some embarrassment, covering with a cough.

”Since you all believe him, bring out his corpse. If he’s human, there’ll be no problem; if he’s a demon, he would reveal his form upon death,” Qiu Zheng continued.

Bai Ruozhu’s heart tightened, no wonder Master Pudeng asked her to hide his corpse, others had already come to Xinchan Temple to make trouble this quickly.

”Utter nonsense, my junior brother is a virtuous monk; upon his nirvana, ten thousand gold rays appeared, followed by fierce fire, leaving behind a sacred Buddhist relic without a corpse,” Pu Zhu said pointing to the relic before Buddha.

Qiu Zheng sneered, ”Didn’t you claim he was a virtuous monk? Shouldn’t he have a golden statue upon death? They say it remains intact, how was it burned away with fire? Without a corpse, maybe you’re afraid of being seen?”
