Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2266: Chapter 2265: Lost His Sight

”No!” Bai Ruozhu was so scared her face turned pale, ”Don’t do anything rash, making a cooked dish from raw rice is too unfair to Yizi.”

Bai Ruozhu had forgotten what kind of person Fo Lanying used to be, someone who wouldn’t stop at anything to achieve her goals. Just thinking about how stubborn she was when her second brother refused her challenge back then was enough.

She really regretted telling Fo Lanying about this. Somehow, she felt things were heading in a bad direction.

Fo Lanying said with a cheerful smile, ”I’m just saying, it won’t come to that. Alright, I’m off to take care of things, you don’t have to worry about it.”

After she finished speaking, she left cheerfully. Bai Ruozhu reached out, wanting to stop her, but it was too late. Oh dear, she felt even more troubled.

After a while, Jiang Yichun returned to the room and saw her puzzled face, he asked, ”Are you still worried about Yizi and Jianqi?”

Bai Ruozhu shook her head blankly, ”No, I somehow feel that Fo Lanying is even more worrisome.”

She then mimicked the conversation she had with Fo Lanying. Jiang Yichun listened and broke out in a cold sweat, ”Are you sure she won’t end up shooting herself in the foot?”

Bai Ruozhu troubledly rubbed her temples, ”Won’t it just get more chaotic? I feel like I’m not cut out to be a matchmaker, I’d better stay out of it.”

”Exactly, don’t worry about them. Now, tell me what information you found.” Jiang Yichun embraced her, reaching out to smooth her furrowed brow.

”It seems like there’s internal strife within the Quanrong Clan, and someone wants to harm You Meng, the posthumous child. Fo Lanying was sent by You Meng’s trusted subordinate, who saved the abbot back in the day, so the abbot had to help.” Bai Ruozhu briefly repeated what the young monk had said.

”If that’s the case, then there’s no issue with the temple, so what should we do about Zhu Ning? She nearly got two Wei Hall members killed, we can’t just let it go, right?” Jiang Yichun inquired.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and said, ”She’s from the Jiuli Clan, and broke their clan rules; we should let the Jiuli Clan handle her.”

Jiang Yichun playfully tapped her nose, ”You’re just too soft-hearted.”

”It’s not that I’m soft-hearted, I suspect that as long as she’s in Xinchan Temple, none of us can harm her.” Bai Ruozhu thought of Master Pudeng’s eyes, seemingly calm as a well, yet sparkling with wisdom, and felt things weren’t that simple.

”Once your curse is lifted, we’ll try and see.” Jiang Yichun said.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, she didn’t want to provoke Master Pudeng at this time.

Soon, it was time for Bai Ruozhu to meet Master Pudeng. Jiang Yichun followed behind, secretly hiding behind a large tree from a distance, where he could peek at the situation in the Main Hall.

Bai Ruozhu bowed to Master Pudeng, ”Master, sorry to trouble you.”

Master Pudeng placed his palms together, ”Amitabha, Bai benefactor, let’s begin.”

Bai Ruozhu sat cross-legged on the meditation mat as she did the previous day, closing her eyes and focusing as instructed, but this time she discreetly pinched herself to remind herself not to fall asleep again.

Soon, the chanting of Master Pudeng reached her ears. Bai Ruozhu once again felt clarity and calmness in her mind, and gradually she once more lost consciousness.

Outside, Jiang Yichun only saw her sitting motionlessly with her eyes closed, not knowing when she fell asleep. Master Pudeng continued chanting, appearing as if nothing extraordinary was happening.

At that moment, it seemed as though golden light was emanating from Master Pudeng’s mouth. Jiang Yichun couldn’t help but widen his eyes as golden Sanskrit flowed from his mouth towards Bai Ruozhu, quickly entering her body.

Before Jiang Yichun could observe further, he felt a sharp pain in his eyes and lost consciousness.

”Bai benefactor, it’s done.” Master Pudeng’s voice echoed once more, identical in tone and manner to the previous day. Bai Ruozhu awoke suddenly, almost thinking it was still the previous day when she had been roused from her slumber.

”Thank you, Master.” Bai Ruozhu stood and bowed, still harboring doubts in her heart, thinking she’d ask Jiang Yichun later why she fell asleep again.

”Bai benefactor, perhaps you should check on Jiang benefactor. Next time, don’t spy on the monk’s chanting, it does him no good.” Master Pudeng spoke softly, his voice free of anger or blame, only reflecting a hint of helplessness.

Bai Ruozhu was startled, Achun had been discovered!

She didn’t have time to think further and quickly ran outside the hall, seeing a person lying conspicuously behind a tree in the distance, being on the ground made him particularly noticeable.

”Achun, what’s wrong with you?” Bai Ruozhu hurriedly helped him up, reaching out to check his pulse, finding no internal injuries, and his breathing was steady.

Jiang Yichun groaned, awakening from his unconscious state. He painfully clutched his eyes, saying, ”My eyes hurt so much!”

Bai Ruozhu quickly examined his eyelids. He winced in pain as she touched them, and Bai Ruozhu was startled to see his eyes seemingly covered with a layer of white mist, with the pupils out of focus.

It appeared somewhat like cataracts, but Achun couldn’t have suddenly developed cataracts, nor was it an evil technique or poisoning.

Bai Ruozhu helped him up, anxiously saying, ”Let’s go ask Master Pudeng.”

The two walked towards the Main Hall, but unexpectedly the doors shut with a thud, and a monk approached, saying, ”Master Pudeng is in meditation and is not to be disturbed.”

”But my husband’s eyes...”

The monk huffed, ”Master Pudeng’s chanting is not to be spied upon! He deliberately did not have anyone accompany you both for your own good. Now his eyes can’t see; it was caused by his disobedience. Rest for a few days and they’ll recover on their own.”

With that, the monk left in a huff, and Bai Ruozhu, seeing Jiang Yichun’s forehead beaded with cold sweat from the pain, compassionately helped him back to the Yard.

Soon, Gao Zhou came in after hearing about the incident, angrily pointing at Jiang Yichun and scolding, ”I told you before that Master Pudeng is my savior, how can you peek at his chanting? Are you doubting him or not trusting your foster father?”

”Godfather, please calm down. This isn’t Achun’s fault; he’s already in enough pain. Please don’t blame him anymore.” Bai Ruozhu spoke up for Jiang Yichun with heartache, handing him a damp cloth to soothe his eyes.

”You’re just too suspicious, look what happened now, making a fuss out of nothing.” Gao Zhou was getting more upset, ”Master Pudeng has graciously lifted your curse, you should be grateful. He doesn’t owe you anything, and yet you act so suspicious; what if he refuses to continue lifting the curse for you?”

”I just found it odd that I keep falling asleep unknowingly.” Bai Ruozhu hung her head down. She had stopped doubting Master Pudeng a while ago; it’s just that she was curious.

Jiang Yichun reached out and tugged at his father’s sleeve, saying, ”Dad, please don’t be angry. There are people of the Quanrong Clan here at the temple, it’s only natural for us to be cautious.”

”You can’t suspect Master Pudeng in this. Some say he has already attained Buddhahood, but out of compassion for the suffering, he refused to enter nirvana. The chanting of a true Buddha is not something one can spy on lightly!” Gao Zhou’s anger hadn’t subsided.
