Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2259: Chapter 2258: Embarrassed

Just after dawn, there weren’t many people on the streets yet, only businesses setting up their stalls. In the inn, a woman walked out somewhat lost in thought; her face pale, there were shadows under her eyes, it was clear she hadn’t slept all night.

Fo Lanying couldn’t sleep and ran outside to look around; she felt she shouldn’t be looking for Yuan Licheng, but she couldn’t settle down, so she came out to walk around. Feeling lost, she walked towards the City Gate, thinking if Yuan Licheng was to leave, he would probably be heading out of the city. She searched throughout the city yesterday but never saw Yuan Licheng’s shadow.

When leaving the city, the guard didn’t search much, just noticing her odd appearance, a helpful guard asked: ”Miss, are you ill? Do you need to see a doctor?”

Fo Lanying snapped out of it, shook her head, and said, ”I have some urgent matters, just didn’t get to rest well.”

The guard didn’t ask more, and Fo Lanying continued walking forward. At this moment, a horse carriage also left the city behind her, a carriage loaded with goods to be sent out of the city. The carriage was moving urgently, and Fo Lanying walked in the middle of the road, dazed, completely unaware of the carriage sound behind her.

”What’s the person ahead doing? Why don’t you move aside quickly?” The coachman shouted, ”How can you walk in the middle of the road without knowing you’re blocking it? Move quickly!”

The coachman assumed Fo Lanying would hear and move aside, so he didn’t slow down, but Fo Lanying didn’t hear it at all and wasn’t aware of the commotion behind, and the carriage charged directly at her.

The guard, who spoke to Fo Lanying earlier, shouted in alarm, ”Miss, quickly dodge!”

Only then did Fo Lanying come to her senses, turning her head to see the carriage coming straight at her.

She was so frightened she turned even paler, wanting to dodge but her body stiffened, it was too late to escape. Seeing the carriage about to hit her, she instinctively closed her eyes...

Then, a figure suddenly rushed over, holding her and rolling toward the roadside.

The carriage still hit something, Fo Lanying heard a loud crash, but not the expected pain. She quickly opened her eyes only to find that the person holding her was none other than Yuan Licheng!

To save her, Yuan Licheng got hit by the carriage on one side, though not seriously injured, his sleeve was torn by the carriage box, a cut on his shoulder bleeding.

Fo Lanying suddenly burst into tears, grabbing Yuan Licheng and asking, ”Where have you gone? Why did you rush out? You’re hurt, do you know that!”

Yuan Licheng held her in shock, refusing to let go, saying, ”I was wrong, I won’t run away again; are you okay? Were you scared? Did you hurt anywhere?”

He paid no mind to his shoulder wound but repeatedly checked Fo Lanying all over, concerned if she bumped or got scratched anywhere. Fo Lanying’s eyes warmed, and the tears flowed more fiercely.

”I’m fine, you’re the one hurt, why did you run around, I don’t need saving.” Fo Lanying’s nose tingled, her voice tinged with both grievance and a bit of coyness.

The coachman came down to apologize to the two of them, ”Are you alright? How about I take you to see a doctor?”

Yuan Licheng was angry, glaring at the coachman and saying, ”How do you drive the carriage? Seeing people walking slowly, you shouldn’t rush over, do you know how dangerous that is?”

The coachman was so scared, repeatedly apologized, ”It’s all my fault, I’ll reimburse your medical fees, I’ll take you to see a doctor now, I promise I won’t drive so fast next time.”

Seeing the coachman’s sincere attitude, Yuan Licheng couldn’t bear to keep scolding him, Fo Lanying tugged on Yuan Licheng’s sleeve and said, ”Forget it, let him go, it’s my fault too, always walking on the road lost in thought.”

The coachman thanked them profusely like being pardoned and hurried away.

Yuan Licheng helped Fo Lanying up, softly saying, ”Did you come out of the city because you couldn’t find me?”

At this mention, Fo Lanying felt even more aggrieved, tears streamed down again.

”You have the nerve to say, you ran off without a word, I haven’t slept all night, searching everywhere for you. I just said a few words, you don’t even know what you are thinking about all day? If you want to keep leaving, then leave thoroughly, don’t come back, saving me worry!”

Yuan Licheng’s face showed delight, ”Are you worried about me? Are you really worried about me?”

Fo Lanying snapped back to reality, her face turned crimson, ”Who cares about you? I’m not worried about you at all.”

Saying this, she got up in a huff and walked back to the city; the guard nearby chuckled, saying, ”It turns out the Miss was distracted because she couldn’t find her husband; alright, alright, young couple don’t quarrel, quickly go home!”

Yuan Licheng chuckled, nodding repeatedly, ”You’re right, you’re right.”

Fo Lanying’s face reddened further, glaring at the guard and saying, ”He’s not my husband, I don’t know him well.”

The guard laughed harder, saying, ”Alright, I understand, either a husband or a love interest.”

Fo Lanying wished she could find a hole to crawl into, hastening her steps to get away, knowing she couldn’t outtalk those veteran soldiers.

Hearing laughter behind her, Yuan Licheng also chuckled softly.

”What’s so funny? Laugh again and I’ll kick you out!” Fo Lanying pouted and said to Yuan Licheng.

Yuan Licheng now understood her character; she’s sharp-tongued but soft-hearted. He grinned, ”I won’t leave; you came out looking for me, I’m sticking with you, it’s too late to make me go now.”

”You...” Fo Lanying felt frustrated; he wasn’t like this before, have men become shameless once they matured?

The two bickered, yet walked back to the inn together.

Fo Lanying saw Yuan Licheng’s shoulder wound and couldn’t help but seek out Bai Ruozhu, waking her from her sleep, exhausted, she asked, ”How did you find him?”

Fo Lanying looked at her in surprise, asking, ”You haven’t gone out looking for anyone? Why are you so tired, did you not sleep last night?”

Bai Ruozhu’s face flushed, quickly said, ”I don’t sleep well, recognizing a new bed, how did it go finding him?”

Fo Lanying nodded and said, ”Found him, he got a minor wound, do you have any medicine?”

Bai Ruozhu handed her a box of medication, ”Help him apply the medicine and bandage it, make sure he doesn’t get it wet in the next few days, it will heal faster, take good care of him.”

Fo Lanying seriously noted it down, her face reddening as she left the room. Bai Ruozhu chuckled watching her departure, saying, ”Now that he’s back, don’t keep showing him a sour face; it’s better to clear things up.”

Fo Lanying responded with an ”um” and ran off as if fleeing, clearly embarrassed.
