The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 166: Chapter 166 Because it’s You, I’m Not Afraid_1

In the darkness, Shirley Miller suddenly sat up in bed, snapped on the light with a click, and then gazed steadily at Carson Flores.

Carson Flores was stunned for a moment, looking at Shirley Miller with confusion.

Was the reaction that intense?

Fear?

”What’s wrong?”

Shirley Miller spoke calmly, ”I turned on the light because I want you to see my eyes, see my face, and I hope you understand that there is no fear in my eyes, I don’t feel uncomfortable, on the contrary, with you here, I feel very safe, safer than I’ve ever felt!”

Carson Flores’s heart suddenly felt comfortable, even touched.

Yesterday, he had killed two people and seriously injured three in front of Shirley Miller, and today, he had killed even more. It was entirely normal for ordinary people to be afraid, let alone when the murderer was lying right beside them.

Carson Flores had asked Samantha Tate the same question before, and now he asked Shirley Miller.

The responses of the two were different, but their essence was the same.

Because it’s you, I’m not afraid.

Carson Flores also remembered how, when he first entered, she saw the blood on his body, asked if he was injured, and, upon learning he was unharmed, she didn’t pursue the matter further. Thinking about it carefully, it was indeed quite touching.

I care if you’re hurt, as for the others, I don’t mind, because I know you would not hurt innocent people.

Shirley Miller, fearing a misunderstanding, even turned on the light deliberately, stared into his eyes, and so seriously told him that she was not afraid, fearing that he might misunderstand and be hurt by it.

Carson Flores smiled faintly, ”Good!”

Shirley Miller stared at Carson Flores for several more seconds before withdrawing her gaze, pulling back her right elbow that was propping up her body, and lying back with her face up, but she didn’t turn off the light.

”You took action against the James Family because of me, and the same goes for the Browning Family. All I feel is gratitude and debt. How could I be afraid of a person willing to risk their life to protect me?”

Carson Flores nodded, ”Actually, today’s situation was also coincidental. I got involved in the conflict between the Browning Family and the Howell Family, otherwise, at most, I would have just looked for trouble with Boston Browning and Elder Browning, not making such a huge scene as I did.”

Shirley Miller asked softly, ”The Browning Family has nothing to do with me, someone must have instigated them, right? Oscar Miller, or Santino Vasquez?”

”Oscar Miller,”

Carson Flores answered, ”I asked Boston Browning, and he did indeed call Santino Vasquez to inquire about my background, but Santino Vasquez was not aware of their actions.”

Shirley Miller said angrily, ”Oscar Miller really can’t wait even a day.”

Carson Flores asked, ”Are you still going to sell him your shares?”

Shirley Miller gritted her teeth, ”Sell.”

After pausing, Shirley Miller turned her head, her eyes with a hint of plea, ”I’ll contact him as soon as I go to work tomorrow; please don’t trouble him anymore, okay?”

Carson Flores laughed, ”Okay, I have no grudge against him, and if you can set aside your hatred temporarily, I naturally have no problem.”

Shirley Miller said softly, ”Don’t misunderstand me, I do want to take revenge on him, but Oscar Miller is highly regarded in the Miller Family. I’ve heard he has a very powerful expert with him. If you go to trouble Oscar Miller, you might be in danger, and even if you can defeat that expert, if you killed Oscar Miller, the Miller Family would not let it go and would surely seek crazy retaliation.”

Carson Flores nodded, ”Okay, I won’t trouble him, but on the condition that he does not provoke me again.”

Shirley Miller felt a bit relieved, ”Okay, after I sell the shares, we can leave Polgel and put all these grudges and troubles behind us, at least for the time being.”

”Okay, as you say!”

Carson Flores wasn’t afraid of Oscar Miller, but since Shirley Miller had decided to let go, there was no need for him to make a formidable enemy for himself.

The Miller Family was not like the Woolery Family or the Browning Family; they had firmly established themselves in Seashore City and become a dominant force, impacting such a broad area; their strength was not something the Woolery or Browning families could compare with.

Shirley Miller was finally relieved.

She was very worried that Carson Flores might provoke the Miller Family for her sake. Even though she was not a Cultivator, she knew the Miller Family was very strong and not to be taken lightly.

She feared Carson Flores might meet with disaster, especially after hearing about tonight’s violent skirmish, she became even more afraid.

Business struggles might result in bankruptcy upon failure, but clashing with the Miller Family might mean losing life itself, silently disappearing from this world.

If Carson Flores lost his life at the hands of the Miller Family because he helped her, Shirley Miller would probably live in regret and guilt for the rest of her life.

”Let’s sleep.”

”Okay!”

Just as the two were sleeping peacefully, Oscar Miller, who had just tumbled in bed with his secretary, picked up his phone.

”What’s the matter?”

The grave voice of Beau Compton rang out, ”The Browning Family has been wiped out.”

Oscar Miller sat up abruptly from the bed, his eyes showing shock, ”Wiped out by whom?”

”Carson Flores.”

Oscar Miller’s expression was a mix of astonishment and confusion, ”Carson Flores? Who is that?”
