The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

36: Chapter 36: How about dedicating myself to you?_1 36: Chapter 36: How about dedicating myself to you?_1 Samantha Tate whispered, “But…

wasn’t that fake?”

Carson Flores laughed, “Because I have the ability to protect you.

If I didn’t, I would definitely be the first to run away, so you don’t need to be touched by it.”

Samantha Tate pouted slightly, “Do you always like to belittle yourself like this, are you afraid of taking on some responsibility?”

Carson Flores was stunned for a moment, then smiled openly, “Maybe I am.

I don’t like to put the shackles of responsibility on myself, I prefer to be free and easygoing, being modest helps to avoid trouble.”

Samantha Tate stared at Carson Flores, “But don’t you men always like to boast about yourselves in front of women to show off how amazing you are?”

As Carson Flores wiped the fresh blood from his chest, he answered, “There are many capable people, and boasting can easily lead to a slap in the face.”

Samantha Tate looked at him with complicated eyes, “You saved my life, how should I repay you?”

Carson Flores turned his head, looked at the color on Samantha Tate’s face, and broadly understood her complex feelings towards him at the moment, then smiled, “You want to repay me?”

Samantha Tate nodded affirmatively, “Yeah, if you hadn’t followed me here, I definitely would be a goner today.”

Carson Flores chuckled, “Then shall I be direct?”

Samantha Tate nodded, “You say it.”

Carson Flores leaned in two inches closer, chuckled, and said, “How about dedicating yourself to me?”

Samantha Tate’s face flushed red as she cursed in annoyance, “In your dreams, you filthy rogue!”

Carson Flores wore a disappointed expression, “Ah, seems I misunderstood.

Never mind then, just forget I said anything.

Just treat me to a big meal later on.”

Samantha Tate observed Carson Flores’s expression and suddenly realized, he did it on purpose!

He had seen through her feeling of gratitude towards him after a life-and-death experience, as well as the complicated psychology of a woman, so he deliberately made such an extreme joke to lighten her mood.

Samantha Tate slapped the smooth skin of Carson Flores’s back with her hand, “Stop spouting nonsense!”

Carson Flores laughed heartily, wrung out the water from the towel, and said, “Don’t think too much about it.

Even if we’re not lovers, we can still be friends, right?

There’s no need for a reason to protect a friend.

Let’s go, continue drinking; I didn’t eat much barbecue just now, and I’m not yet full.

Oh, and find me some clothes; I didn’t bring any spare ones.”

After changing into new clothes, Carson Flores once again sat in front of the barbecue pit, the group of wealthy second-generation kids waiting excitedly for him.

“Bro Carson, you saved our lives today.

From now on, you are our true brother!

Anything you need, just command us!”

“Right!”

The group, recalling the events from before, felt fearful followed by boundless excitement.

The image of Carson Flores, shirtless and covered in blood, using a wolf as a weapon to sweep through the pack and his roar intimidating the wolves, made their hearts tremble with admiration.

What defines a tough guy?

This is what a tough guy is!

Even just experiencing this scene gives them a lifetime of bragging rights!

Carson Flores was not bashful, he smiled and said, “This is what you guys are saying.

If I come to you for help in the future, you’d better not run away.”

Ruby Gross patted her full chest, stating excitedly, “Bro Carson, from today onwards, you are my idol.

Anyone who does such uncool things, I’ll cut ties with them!”

Roland Browning chimed in, “Bro Carson is capable and has no airs about him, down to earth.

We’re lucky to know you!”

Ruby Gross eyed Carson Flores with stars in her eyes, “Too bad Bro Carson already has a girlfriend.

Otherwise, I would definitely chase after you; so MANLY!”

Roland Browning laughed, “Then you can ask Bro Carson if he minds having one more girlfriend.”

Samantha Tate sat next to Carson Flores, and although she knew everyone was joking, she felt inexplicably a tad bit annoyed, and retorted jokingly, “All of you, scram!

Carson Flores is my boyfriend; whoever dares to snatch him, I’ll turn against them!”

Carson Flores held his beer can, smiled slightly, and did not turn his head.

He had saved Samantha Tate, but he had no intention of using that to advance their relationship.

His purpose in coming to Polgel was to get the Jade Pendant and to understand his own origins.

After establishing the ground rules with Shirley Miller and confirming their marriage was just an act, Carson Flores might only be a passerby in Polgel.

With that being the case, it was better not to leave any lingering ties.

The drinking party lasted until midnight, and everyone went off to rest.

Carson Flores and Samantha Tate also entered their two-person tent.

There was no light inside the tent, and in the darkness, they lay side by side, each’s breathing clear and audible.

Samantha Tate had no desire to sleep, turned her head a little, and looked at the silhouette of Carson Flores lying beside her, feeling an array of emotions.

Sudden restless noises came from a tent not too far away.

Although they were clearly trying to keep it down, the intermittent moans, like a cat’s cry, still entered the ears of Samantha Tate and Carson Flores, stirring their nerves.

In the dark, the once steady breathing of both suddenly seemed to hold a bit more fluctuation, as if a small pebble had been thrown into a still pond, creating ripples.

In the darkness, Samantha Tate’s cheeks burned, and her heart raced, as if it was about to leap out of her chest.

Thinking about the day’s events, Samantha Tate suddenly realized she might have started to like the man beside her.

It was not just gratitude, but real affection.

This man seemed to be full of virtues aside from the lack of a family background and being poor, his whole being radiated a man’s charm.

Samantha Tate bit her lip, gathering courage, and tentatively reached out her hand toward Carson Flores.
