The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 14: Chapter 14 Are you scaring me?_1

Carson Flores stayed until the end of his shift; he was about to go out and buy a set of Silver Needles for himself when he suddenly received a call from Vincent Ward.

Vincent Ward invited him to dinner, saying it was to thank him for the help he had given the other day, and that he also had some unresolved difficulties on his mind that he wanted to consult with him about.

Carson thought for a moment and agreed.

Returning to the Miller Family, where he had to pretend to be a loving couple with Shirley Miller in front of the old master, made him feel uncomfortable. Why not take this opportunity to dine out and return later, thereby avoiding the trouble?

Vincent Ward would certainly have Silver Needles, and when the time came, he could buy a suitable set.

Carson took a taxi to the restaurant, where he found Vincent Ward and his granddaughter, Rebecca Ward, sitting in a private room.

Rebecca Ward was seventeen or eighteen years old, with a petite figure and a small melon seed-shaped face. She had proudly curvaceous lines despite her delicate body, the very definition of a loli face with the body of a witch. She was dressed simply in a white T-shirt, black shorts, and sneakers, exuding a youthful aura.

”Miss Ward also studies medicine?”

Vincent Ward laughed and said, ”No, she’s just finished her college entrance exams. Her parents are traveling abroad, so she’s staying with me for a while... Mr. Flores, just call her Rebecca.”

Rebecca asked curiously, ”Mr. Flores, grandpa says your medical skills are even better than his, is that true?”

Carson chuckled, ”That’s just your grandfather being modest; you shouldn’t take it seriously.”

Vincent Ward laughed, ”I’m not being modest. Although I’ve only seen Mr. Flores perform acupuncture once and prescribe once, it’s enough to prove that he’s much more capable than this old man.”

A spark lit up in Rebecca’s eyes; she had never seen her grandfather hold anyone’s medical skills in such high esteem, let alone a young man’s.

During the meal, Vincent Ward took out a prescription he had written: ”Mr. Flores, this is a new prescription I’ve recently devised for severe varicose veins. Please review it.”

Carson didn’t refuse; he took the prescription, considered it, and gave his opinion, ”The prescription is not bad and will definitely be effective, but its relief effect on severe varicose veins is limited. If you add 30 grams of Campsis and increase the amount of Hundred-Heart Grass to 25 grams, the effect should be much better.”

”Campsis?”

Vincent Ward frowned, took the prescription back, and stopped eating to concentrate on it. After a while, his frown relaxed, ”Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! How did I not think of adding Campsis!”

Vincent Ward looked up and respectfully clasped his hands, ”Mr. Flores, thank you for your guidance. Your medical expertise is exceptional and worthy of being my teacher!”

Carson smiled, ”Doctor Ward, please don’t be so formal; just call me Carson or little Carson.”

But Vincent Ward’s attitude was firm: ”Mr. Flores twice offered me guidance. Even a single word from a mentor is significant. If not for having a mentor already, and thus not being able to change my allegiance, I would definitely take you as my master. Calling you ’Mr.’ is only proper.”

Rebecca looked at Carson with shining eyes, full of admiration.

Being able to teach her grandfather, he must be amazing!

Vincent Ward was insistent, and Carson had no choice but to let him call him whatever he wanted. As the meal was coming to an end, Carson asked, ”Doctor Ward, do you have Silver Needles at your clinic? I need to perform acupuncture on someone tomorrow, and I’d like to buy a set.”

Vincent Ward smiled, ”Of course, we have Silver Needles. I have quite a few good items in my collection. I’ll give a set to Mr. Flores as a gift!”

Carson didn’t stand on ceremony and smiled, ”Thanks!”

After dinner, the three went to the nearby clinic, where Vincent Ward led Carson to a room and showed him his collection.

Carson’s eyes lit up—not bad at all, and all of it was quality material that you couldn’t find on the market!

Carson chose the set of Silver Needles that suited him best, expressed his gratitude, and was about to take his leave when suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps came from the front door, and four men walked in.

A middle-aged man in his forties led the way, with two men looking like bodyguards supporting a silver-haired elder in his sixties.

The silver-haired old man’s complexion was bright red, his breathing was rapid, and his body leaned weakly on the bodyguards, his eyes tightly closed, presenting a very distressed and powerless appearance.

Vincent Ward’s expression changed slightly, ”Mr. Simmons!”

The middle-aged man said in a deep voice, ”Hurry up and treat my father. Cure him and you’ll be rewarded with one million dollars.”

”Help him to lie down first.”

After the elder lay down, Vincent Ward began his diagnosis, and his brows instantly furrowed into a ’chuan’ character.

The middle-aged man asked, ”How is it?”

Vincent Ward’s expression was grave, ”Qi and blood are in disorder, the five viscera are damaged. Has he sustained internal injuries?”

A look of relief crossed the middle-aged man’s face, ”That’s right, can you treat it?”

Vincent Ward gave a wry smile, ”I am not sure about treating such internal injuries, I can only try my best.”

The middle-aged man’s expression immediately darkened, ”Doctor Ward, you are known as a famous doctor in the world. What is this talk of trying your best? If you, a renowned doctor, can’t actually cure, just say so directly. I will find another famous doctor. Don’t delay my father’s condition. If you can do it, then treat him. If you cure him, my Simmons Family will naturally not mistreat Doctor Ward. But if you attempt to treat and fail to cure him, then it won’t just end there.”

Vincent Ward’s expression shifted slightly, suddenly caught in a dilemma.

The other party’s words carried an undisguised threat. If he didn’t treat the condition, he would likely be branded as ’incompetent’, disgracing his reputation, and even his medical hall might be forced to close. After all, the Simmons Family’s influence was substantial. But if he decided to treat, Vincent Ward truly had no confidence.

After all, who could guarantee a cure for an illness 100% of the time, let alone when it was internal injuries, which were even more complicated.

The middle-aged man frowned and spoke in an icy tone, ”Doctor Ward, time is running out. Give me an answer, can you do it, or not?”

Vincent Ward looked troubled, bitterness in his heart.

To say no would mean a ruined reputation.

To say yes would mean no assurance, and the patient might die.

Vincent Ward hesitated for two seconds, then decided to admit his inability, as he indeed lacked the capability to cure the patient. If that was the case, he shouldn’t delay the other party from seeking someone else for treatment.

As for his reputation?

Forget it!

Just as Vincent Ward was about to speak, Carson Flores suddenly said in an indifferent tone, ”I have only seen people seeking medical help to prolong life, but I’ve never seen anyone threatening a doctor to prolong a life. Today has indeed been an eye-opener!”

The middle-aged man’s cold gaze fell on Carson Flores, ”Who are you?”

Vincent Ward was jolted awake and turned his attention to Carson Flores beside him, his eyes suddenly lighting up. How could he have forgotten about Carson Flores!

Just because he couldn’t do it didn’t mean Carson Flores couldn’t!

Vincent Ward quickly introduced, ”Mr. Simmons, this is Carson Flores. He is also a doctor.”

The middle-aged man gave Carson Flores a disdainful look and scoffed, ”Wet behind the ears, not knowing the immensity of heaven and earth. There are many things you haven’t seen.”

After mocking Carson Flores, the middle-aged man looked at Vincent Ward and said coldly, ”It seems it’s a no-go. Doctor Ward, it appears this great reputation of yours as one of the four great doctors has quite a bit of water in it. It’s just as well if your Jade Peace Hall closes down... Let’s go!”

The middle-aged man turned and headed for the door; two bodyguards quickly moved to assist the elder who was lying down.

Carson Flores spoke up indifferently, ”He probably has about fifteen minutes of life left.”

The middle-aged man suddenly stopped in his tracks, turned around, and stared coldly at Carson Flores, ”Are you trying to scare me?”
