Three Towers Game

Chapter 340: Chapter 122: The End of the Doomsday Survival Game - Part 5

”I’ve decided, the library will be installed on the second level.”

The black Deceitful Head said:

”Alright, I certainly hope so. Indeed, you must accelerate the exploration of the Deceit Tower. While the arrival of the next Giant Devourment is inevitable, perhaps you can delay the one after that for longer.”

Wen Xishu’s eyes widened slightly:

”Giant Devourment?”

”Yes, the Giant Devourment is coming. But the specific time is still uncertain,” the black Deceitful Head said.

Wen Xishu continued to press:

”What is the reason for the existence of the Giant Devourment? How can it be prevented? What impact will its arrival have on the Bunker?”

The black Deceitful Head tilted his head:

”Alright, just for you, I’ll make an exception and tell you. You can understand the cause of the Giant Devourment as a counterattack from that world through the Three Towers against the Bunker.”

”It’s not hard to understand, is it? After all, what you are doing is changing that world through the Three Towers.”

”Every journey you make can rewrite the war situation in that world. So the Giant Devourment is to change your world.”

Wen Xishu said:

”Could it be that the people of that world, those with the prefixes Slaughter, Deceit, and Desire, will come to explore our world?”

The guide shook his head:

”No, no, no, of course, they do not have that ability, that privilege is exclusive to the Bunker People.”

”The Giant Devourment is actually related to the Deceit Tower, but this time, the deceit will not remain in the Deceit Tower but will descend upon many levels of the Bunker.”

Wen Xishu suddenly realized the problem:

”So...the deceit of the Deceit Tower will appear in the Bunker, and people will need to clean it up?”

The black Deceitful Head did not expect Wen Xishu to grasp the point so quickly:

”The Giant Devourment is caused by insufficient exploration of one of the towers. Since insufficient exploration of the Desire Tower is impossible, and the cost of insufficient exploration of the Slaughter Tower is too great... coupled with the excessively dangerous exploration of the Deceit Tower...”

”For various reasons, every Giant Devourment is caused by insufficient exploration of the Deceit Tower.”

”And the manifestation of the Giant Devourment is like the exploration of the Deceit Tower. You can understand it as the Deceit Tower forcefully requiring Bunker People to explore it, and only after eliminating a certain amount of deceit will the Giant Devourment end.”

The black Deceitful Head smirked and asked:

”By the way, what do you think is the relationship between the Desire Tower and the Deceit Tower?”

Wen Xishu did not immediately yell at the guide to answer but seriously considered the question.

After a while, he spoke:

”The various desires interwoven in the Desire Tower create the twists and rules of the Deceit Tower. So, the Desire Tower is the material for the Deceit Tower.”

The black Deceitful Head clapped:

”A good point, but I have to tell you that the material for the Giant Devourment is not only from the Desire Tower but could also come from the Bunker.”

”In other words, the unfortunate people in the Bunker could also erupt with astonishing energy in a Giant Devourment.”

”In short, with every appearance of the Giant Devourment, the Bunker will lose a layer of skin.”

Wen Xishu thought about it and found this situation unsolvable.

Firstly, the mortality rate of exploring the Slaughter Tower is very high, almost as high as that of the Deceit Tower.

The mortality rate of exploring the Desire Tower is the lowest.

So logically, exploring the Desire Tower becomes the main means of bringing resources to the Bunker due to its safety and stable output.

Therefore, the number of explorations of the Desire Tower cannot be insufficient. Reducing the number of explorations...

Would likely lead to a decrease in the main resource source.

Can the number of explorations of the Slaughter Tower be reduced? Definitely not. Because insufficient exploration of the Deceit Tower leads to the Giant Devourment descending in the form of deceit into the Bunker.

If the number of explorations of the Slaughter Tower is insufficient, then the Giant Devourment will descend in the form of slaughter into the Bunker.

Although the survival rate of the Deceit Tower is low, at least it does not rely on force, and humans working together still have a chance to get through it.

But the Slaughter Tower is different. If insufficient exploration of the Slaughter Tower triggers the Giant Devourment, then it requires hard strength to get through it.

If the numerical values are not up to the standard, then it’s just not possible to get through. The Slaughter Tower does not give you those tricky opportunities.

So, when Wen Xishu thought about this problem, he felt the same dread as John facing the future of Wind City.

In the end, he found that the Giant Devourment descending in the form of the Deceit Tower is actually the most reasonable and the only solution.

For humans to eradicate the Giant Devourment, they would have to increase their investment in exploring the Deceit Tower.

But it’s hard to say... whether the number of people dying from such an investment would be more than those dying from the arrival of the Giant Devourment.

Exploring the Deceit Tower requires some deaths; the mortality rate has always been high.

Exploring the Slaughter Tower already causes a significant number of deaths, but at least the birth rate in the Bunker is adequate and can withstand the trend of population change. However, if further exploration of the Deceit Tower is required...

This will lead to changes in the total population, which in turn will trigger other changes.

Because there is an invisible rule—the total number of adults in the Bunker equals the total number of loggers for the Three Towers.

To make the Bunker crazy about breeding and expanding its population? Such strict measures often backfire.

Wen Xishu contemplated this issue from all angles and found it unsolvable. Perhaps there is still one other solution.

That is for a genius in exploring the Deceit Tower to emerge, someone who can single-handedly reduce the mortality rate.

”Alright, alright, Wen Xishu, I really look forward to you turning the tide during the Giant Devourment. And don’t think of the Giant Devourment as too terrifying. After all, there are a few monster-like beings in the Bunker.”

Wen Xishu nodded. If a disaster must come and cannot be stopped, then the only thing he could do is to find ways to cope with it.

He asked:

”Can you reveal how long it will be before the Giant Devourment descends?”
