Three Towers Game

Chapter 307: After modification: Chapter 117 The Game of Devouring Desire_4

Wen Xishu discovered that people are indeed fickle. He initially hoped that these two jokers could survive.

But now Wen Xishu felt they could do whatever they wanted.

However, there were also people in this group who greatly surprised Wen Xishu.

[Zhang Hai: I am ashamed to say, after spending thirty assets, I never spent more. It’s hard to earn money and even harder to digest foolery. I think what the thirty assets have brought me is quite enough. I am currently fighting zombies in the shelter. There are always missions encouraging me to conquer the shelter, but I always refuse. Brother Wen, I think you were right!]

Wen Xishu never would have guessed that fitness coach Zhang Hai was someone who could overcome desire.

He found it incredible. The game started by reading each individual’s data.

Although he didn’t know why he himself had no assets and couldn’t spend, others’ results, so far, seemed quite accurate.

Whether it’s Tam, who likes to be the boss, Ye Lingfeng, who likes to be wealthy, or The Wolf, who likes to be a lone wolf.

[Zhang Hai: On my side, I always get prompts to use power to conquer the place, but honestly... I just want to find a place to lie low for seven days and then return to the Bunker to claim merit points.]

[Kate: Similar situation here, I spent even less than Zhang Hai, just the initial six yuan. I work as a porter to save money. I came to Deceit Tower to make money, but Deceit Tower won’t let me make money; instead, it wants me to spend. What’s the logic in that?]

Originally, Wen Xishu was wondering what reasons led the ”game” to judge incorrectly. But according to Kate’s words, he seemed to understand why Kate and Zhang Hai could ”escape disaster.”

Both of them had other desires, and the game indeed picked up on them.

But Zhang Hai and Kate were both people who had been beaten down by life. You can let me fulfill all sorts of dreams in the game—I’ll even get a membership and a hidden class if necessary, as failing this game would cost me my life.

But damn it, if you keep pushing me to spend, draining my savings, what the hell does that mean?

No money, just one life. Live or die, without money we still die anyway.

The obsession of working people with money transcends the game’s deep scanning of desires.

Do Zhang Hai and Kate have ideals and dreams? Do they have desires, whether lowbrow or highbrow?

They do. But after being beaten by life, they stopped talking about those. Money becomes the most important thing.

Thinking of this, Wen Xishu found the game quite interesting.

Those who are willing to spend may die in the game, becoming part of the game.

But those unwilling to spend can gradually return to the game’s true essence.

[Wen Xishu: Good luck to you both, you did great. I hope you can survive until the game’s end.]

Wen Xishu was sincere. He never expected that Zhang Hai and Kate could stick to their original intentions. Indeed, poverty itself is far more terrifying than not being strong enough in the game.

Wen Xishu now had just one question: which would die first—the overbearing president or the pretentious teenager? Or, would they become part of the game?

...

...

In the villa at Violet Garden,

Wen Xishu was in the resting room on the second floor, starting the next mission.

The villa’s comforts were always temporary; the game always pushed players to progress.

Duan Donghuo’s radio station had not received any messages until Wen Xishu approached, then a message came through.

”Friends in Wind City, we detected a huge wave of zombies approaching from the north, including giant zombies, irradiated zombies, and witch zombies! Their numbers are unimaginable; it’s as if they have gained consciousness, and they’re heading for Wind City.”

”No matter how confident you are in your residence, we advise you to head to the shelter immediately. The shelter has military-grade defenses! The apocalypse isn’t scary as long as humanity sticks together!”

”If you are still struggling for resources, living with constant danger... please head to the shelter. The shelter’s location is...”

Next came the detailed location of the shelter. Wen Xishu noticed his Compass was spinning now.

”The intelligence about the zombie tide is unsure, but the timing of the message is impeccable.”

”As a player, after successfully accepting and completing two missions, you probably already know the game’s style.”

”The shelter probably holds even greater evil. This is the eternal theme of all apocalypse survival games and films—humans are scarier than zombies.”

”I wonder if there will be any new twists this time.”

Wen Xishu started packing. He didn’t store much because he couldn’t carry much.

Wen Xishu scavenged the bullets around the house, grabbed his pistol, and set off.

...

...

On the way to the shelter, Wen Xishu didn’t hide his abilities.

He tested his extreme kick combining it with the murderous soccer ball; the power was strong enough to easily penetrate a concrete load-bearing wall when the extreme kick hit the ball.

Wen Xishu was very satisfied with this result. All fear comes from lack of firepower. With extreme kick and murderous soccer ball, he was confident in facing witches.

Along the way, Wen Xishu killed many zombies. With his zombie-sensing ability and improved shooting and combat skills, Wen Xishu could always precisely find advantageous positions.
