Three Towers Game

Chapter 323: Chapter 119: If You Can’t Even Trust Games_8

And everyone in the development team of ”Doomsday” finally achieved financial freedom.

Their names are destined to be written into the history of gaming. Whether they made overflowing profits or had a super promotion that didn’t match their financial capability, no one would find it unreasonable.

Just because ”Doomsday” was sold to the Tengyi Group.

When Wen Xishu saw the cg12 scene, a hint of desolation flashed through his heart.

It was as if he felt John’s loneliness at that moment, almost about to completely engulf John.

What an ironic scene, a game that took two years to develop, with everyone giving their all, even going into debt... When they thought they were finally about to succeed...

The game still couldn’t pass the approval process.

They had to rework some of the content in the game, but even so, it still couldn’t pass.

The young team did not realize that whether a game passes approval depends on social connections, not the game itself.

So, for everyone’s livelihood, for the originally planned beautiful future, Catherine made a decision that everyone agreed to but had to keep from John.

The current cg12 scene showed Catherine, John, and even everyone else on the team sitting at a negotiating table.

On the other side of the table were the executives from Tengyi Group’s gaming department, including... the teacher who had plagiarized John’s work.

”Hahaha, we really are fated to meet. Rest assured, we will treat the game ’Doomsday’ well.”

”This time, we will learn from our experiences and try to keep the game’s essence unchanged for at least a year before players dive in.”

”Catherine, I heard a lot about you from John before. You are truly amazing. Behind every successful man, there should be a woman like you.”

”I believe we will achieve success. I think both children and their parents will be willing to continuously spend money on this game! We will create a revenue miracle in the gaming world!”

At the end of the scene, John took Catherine to the former tiny house that was only a dozen square meters.

Catherine sensed John’s unhappiness, but she still smiled:

”Our game was bought by the largest gaming company, more people will be able to play our game, John. We’ve completely moved on from the past...”

”From now on, we won’t have to work in such a cramped place, we will work in the Golden Mansion overlooking the city through floor-to-ceiling windows. We are looked up to by countless people! All of this is because of you, my hero, John! You are a hero to all of us.”

John could feel the genuine joy in Catherine’s heart.

He really wanted to accept Catherine’s embrace, he truly did.

He wanted to convince himself that Catherine was right, this is how the world works.

But he still pulled away, trembling as he spoke:

”Catherine... we did all of this... just for money, right?”

Catherine looked at John, not understanding why he had that expression.

That was an expression of fear and timidity, without even a trace of sadness but only fear left.

Wen Xishu felt that he was not looking at an adult’s expression.

But rather, a lonely hero carrying the dream of saving the world, embarking on a journey, only to finally be terrified by the realities of the Demon Kings.

The shadow hidden deep in his heart surged forth, as if it was about to completely swallow John’s spirit.

”When we were kids... playing Monopoly, was it for making more money in the future?”

John still had the timid expression, looking at Catherine with tears in his eyes.

Catherine’s joy gradually emptied away. She suddenly felt a sense of guilt as if she had killed something with her own hands. But she quickly felt that she was not wrong.

Everybody needs to survive, isn’t everyone striving for a prosperous future?

I did not betray you. During your hardest time, I truly believed you could achieve it. I am not like your teacher, not at all...

She kept repeating to herself, I am not like your teacher.

But no matter how many times she repeated it, she still felt scared, afraid of seeing that look in John’s eyes.

”Catherine, I... really like you. I can never forget the way you proposed to me when I was at my lowest. I might never believe in any feelings again.”

”I’m sorry... I need to be alone for a while. We’re not right for each other, I need to be alone for a while.”

”I can’t defeat the Demon King... I can’t defeat the Demon King... I need to hide.”

John started to speak incoherently.

He fell into his own memories, finally realizing how terrifying the Demon King was.

In his childhood, the Demon King took away his father’s happiness while playing games.

In college, the Demon King also made his roommates develop warped values towards games.

Later, he thought he had found a mentor and friend in his teacher, but the Demon King made that teacher disgusting and betray the games.

Then, he pulled himself together again, thinking he could surely find a pure land where the Demon King could not invade...

He finally gathered his partners and his lover, just like every hero in dragon-slaying stories, they faced overwhelmingly monstrous foes, advancing towards the Demon King’s castle!

But he did not expect the Demon King to be so powerful, and every one of them fell before the Demon King’s castle.

Friendship, mentorship, family bonds, love... all the foundations of John’s life were shattered by the Demon King.

Even the work into which he poured all his heart and dreams... was about to become something he despised.

The world seemed to collapse entirely at this moment. Whilst everyone else celebrated in the snow, John suddenly burst into tears.

Catherine wanted to embrace John, but he pushed her away as if in reflex.

Catherine could never understand John’s confusion and fear within. She couldn’t comprehend why John reacted so strongly.

Everyone’s lives are still long. They now have better environments and equipment, and they are no longer in financial straits. This game had fulfilled its mission, bringing wealth and fame to its creators.

Isn’t this a perfect ending?

She suddenly felt John was being overly sentimental. She couldn’t understand people like John. She would never understand what kind of game John had been trying so hard to create.

And John, like a blind man, no longer saw Catherine in his eyes, only that boundless black shadow.

The last scene of cg12 was John softly repeating a line:

”If... if our world, if even children can’t trust games... what can we trust anymore?”

...

...

cg13.

”John, I can make your dream game come true. Would you like my help? If we work together, even the ’Demon King’ can be defeated.”

”I am Scorpio, and I like your game very much.”

In the darkest moment of his life, when it felt like life had pulled away his spine, a child dressed in a blue suit appeared, with a devilish smile.

”Doomsday” has yet to arrive, but doomsday has already come.

(I can’t finish it, let’s stop here for now...)
