Three Towers Game

Chapter 334: Chapter 121 To Catherine_5

”There are some very serious games here, and some very funny ones, but they are all very fun, in the simplest and purest sense of fun.”

Catherine suddenly looked at Wen Xishu:

”But John... is he already gone? I’ve waited for him a long time.”

Wen Xishu actually understood that both he and Catherine knew the answer to this question.

John was probably already dead.

Because his deal with Scorpio had been made, and as Scorpio said, a deal once made cannot be changed.

And the price for altering the form of the apocalypse was not something ordinary people could bear.

Wen Xishu didn’t know how to answer Catherine because he wasn’t sure if Catherine was an NPC.

At this moment, Catherine suddenly asked Wen Xishu a question:

”You... are you from the apocalypse?”

This question, like a secret code, made Wen Xishu feel as if his soul was struck by something.

He remembered, not long ago John asked him who he really was, and he told John, ”I am from the apocalypse, a player in your game.”

At this moment, Catherine’s question was clearly testing something.

Wen Xishu nodded:

”I am from the apocalypse... a player in John’s game.”

Catherine showed a delighted smile, like a happy little girl:

”Ah, I can finally open that box, wait a moment, I’ll get it for you.”

Catherine quickly found an iron box behind a door leading to the Bomberman’s world.

She opened the box:

”John once told me that I must wait until someone claiming to be from the apocalypse arrives before I can open this box.”

She seemed to be expecting something, as if opening the box would make John appear.

But after opening the box, she was a bit disappointed. She truly expected some magical development, just like when the apocalypse came, she remembered John’s words and came to this room.

Inside the box was a letter.

No envelope, just a lone sheet of white paper, the words on the title were very conspicuous—To Catherine.

At this moment, Wen Xishu also came to Catherine’s side, and he picked up the letter.

”Aren’t you going to read it?”

”I’m a bit afraid... can you read it for me?” Catherine suddenly lacked the courage to read.

She always knew the truth deep down, but she always believed in miracles.

She believed that this man who could turn the apocalypse into a game had a magician-like talent.

But now, perhaps the suspense was about to be unraveled, and she suddenly lacked the courage to read.

Wen Xishu nodded and began to read the letter.

...

...

To Catherine.

My dear Catherine, I am so sorry, the disaster we are about to face, this beautiful world full of games, is about to meet its destruction.

I don’t know how to tell you about the apocalypse that is inevitably coming.

I also don’t know if you will resent me. Because when the apocalypse is presented in the form of a game, especially... when it is presented as the game we created together, you will surely think that I made a deal with the devil, slaughtering all the people of Wind City, won’t you?

But it’s not like that.

Maybe it’s hard for you to believe, the world is already destroyed, humanity is about to move to another realm.

I really wanted to save everyone, I really wanted my game to be less cruel, I also wanted all the millions of people in Wind City to survive.

But I couldn’t do it.

I could only change the form, not the fate. That’s what that deity told me.

Those who became zombies must be presented as zombies, otherwise, they would only turn into even more twisted monsters.

No matter how I modified it, I couldn’t create my ideal version, the number of deaths or people turning into zombies wasn’t something I could decide.

I am not a savior... I can only pray for a savior to appear.

In this deal with the deity, my few permissions were to protect you.

When I finally reconciled with my past self, I realized how obsessive I had been. I also realized the purity when you stood by my side during the lowest point of my life, wanting to be with me.

Family is something we can’t choose, but a lover is the only family we can choose for ourselves.

My father once abandoned me and my mother, I was afraid of all broken relationships in life, I should cherish you more for coming to me.

So I often felt anxious, how should I protect you? After the final apocalypse comes, how can I ensure your safety and survival?

I could only find that deity again, sacrificing everything I have to him, to gain greater power.

And I finally knew what I could leave for you from my impoverished life.

Catherine, I will sacrifice my life to ensure your eternal happiness and safety, so the apocalypse will never be able to touch you.

But if one day, you are willing to walk out of that door... I will absolutely respect your choice.

This is all I have, please forgive me for not being able to accompany you.

Love, John Leon.

...

...

The letter content was not much, it simply described John’s hardships.

When the apocalypse came, the game John created also had its parameters. For example, how many people in Wind City would die.

Wen Xishu could imagine, kind-hearted John must have thought of countless ways to reduce the number of deaths...

But he ultimately failed.

Now Wen Xishu felt that perhaps forcing John to reconcile with his past might be a form of cruelty.
