Chapter 241: Chapter 241: Flirting with the Fiancée in Front of Her Fiancé

”Is there something dirty on my face?” Shen Monong asked with a sweet smile, seeing Ye Xiu staring intently at her.

This smile nearly drove Lian Zhengrong mad. As Shen Monong’s fiancé, she had never smiled at him, yet here she was, smiling at Ye Xiu.

This kid! He’s courting death!

”No dirt, just a wine stain!”

Ye Xiu came to his senses. Smiling, he wiped the wine stain from the corner of Shen Monong’s mouth in front of everyone and said, ”There, it’s gone now!”

This gesture was far too intimate. Shen Monong hadn’t expected Ye Xiu to do something so affectionate and suggestive in public, and a blush involuntarily crept onto her pretty face.

The onlookers in the bar were flabbergasted.

Holy crap! This guy is incredible! Wiping the corner of Shen Monong’s mouth right in front of Lian Zhengrong... he’s blatantly forcing a green hat onto the man’s head in public.

In an instant, all eyes turned to Lian Zhengrong. As expected, the look on his face had turned extremely ugly.

”Sir,” he said coldly, ”is it appropriate for you to be wiping my fiancée’s mouth in front of me?”

”Do you have a problem with it?” Ye Xiu retorted.

Everyone present sucked in a sharp breath.

What the hell! This guy is unbelievably arrogant!

Shen Monong stared at Ye Xiu in astonishment. In her twenty-three years of life, she had never seen anyone so audacious.

He’s on a whole other level of brazenness.

Lian Zhengrong was so furious his nose was practically twisted. ”You wipe my fiancée’s mouth in front of me and then ask if I have a problem with it? Aren’t you being a bit too presumptuous?” he snapped.

”So you’re saying you do have a problem?” Ye Xiu asked.

”Of course I do!” Lian Zhengrong was on the verge of being driven insane by Ye Xiu. ”What the hell do you think? Of course I have a problem!”

”If you have a problem, feel free to say so,” Ye Xiu said calmly.

He’s going to make me lose my mind, Lian Zhengrong fumed internally. Everyone, just listen to this! The bastard flirts with my fiancée in public and then tells me to voice my concerns. Is that something a human being would even say?

Ye Xiu turned to Shen Monong. ”Did your fiancé drink some bad liquor? Why is he so flushed and agitated?”

”As for why he’s so agitated... don’t you have a clue?” Shen Monong shot Ye Xiu a look, barely stifling her laughter. She found that this guy was an absolute expert at infuriating people. Just look at the state he’d put Lian Zhengrong in.

She managed to hold back her laughter, but the onlookers couldn’t.

PFFT!

Someone burst out laughing, and in the next moment, the whole bar erupted with howls of laughter. This laughter pushed Lian Zhengrong over the edge.

”I just helped you wipe the corner of your mouth, and he gets this upset? He’s a bit narrow-minded,” Ye Xiu said leisurely. ”Look, look, his face has gone green with rage. You should find some time to take him to the hospital for a checkup. It’s best to treat an illness early. You don’t want to let it drag on and become something serious.”

SNORT!

Shen Monong couldn’t hold back a snort of laughter. She quickly covered her mouth, laughing so hard that tears welled up in her eyes. ”Sir, please don’t say any more,” she warned. ”Lian Zhengrong isn’t someone you can afford to offend. I think you should leave quickly. Once he decides he wants you dead, you won’t be able to get away.”

She knew Lian Zhengrong all too well. He wasn’t the gentleman rumors made him out to be, but a complete scoundrel—petty and vengeful.

”Alright, then.” Ye Xiu shrugged. His main purpose for coming here tonight was to confirm the relationship between Shen Monong and Lian Zhengrong.

Now it seems Shen Monong doesn’t love Lian Zhengrong—she even detests him. In that case, destroying the marriage alliance between the Shen Family and the Lian family will be quite easy.

”Did I say you could leave?” Lian Zhengrong said, his face cold, as he saw Ye Xiu preparing to depart.

”If I don’t leave, what am I staying for?” Ye Xiu asked.

”You disgraced my fiancée in public and humiliated me,” Lian Zhengrong said coldly. ”If I were to let you just walk away, wouldn’t I, Lian Zhengrong, become the laughingstock of Qingfeng Road?”

Seeing the conflict escalate and Lian Zhengrong’s rage boil over, the crowd of onlookers grew excited.

The classic drama of a rich young master crushing a commoner was always the best kind of entertainment!

”Young Master Lian, do me a favor and let him go,” Shen Monong said in a grave voice.

”Do you a favor? Ha...” Lian Zhengrong’s head was spinning with rage. ”You are my fiancée! When he was wiping your mouth in public, did you ever consider my feelings? When he was humiliating me, did you say a single word in my defense? Now that I’m trying to reclaim my own face, you’re asking me to give you face and let him go? Tell me, is *he* your fiancé, or am *I*?”

Shen Monong’s brows furrowed. ”What do you plan to do to him?”

Lian Zhengrong didn’t answer. Instead, he shouted, ”Someone, get over here!”

Instantly, a gaunt, middle-aged man squeezed through the crowd and said respectfully, ”Young Master, what are your orders?”

”You saw and heard everything just now, didn’t you?” Lian Zhengrong asked.

”Yes!” the middle-aged man nodded.

”Go and cut off the hand he used to wipe Shen Monong’s mouth. Also, since he dared to humiliate me in public, make sure he can never speak again,” Lian Zhengrong commanded.

”As you wish!” The middle-aged man nodded and approached Ye Xiu, his face an emotionless mask.

At this, the crowd stirred uneasily. They had thought Lian Zhengrong would just have Ye Xiu beaten up. They never expected him to be so ruthless as to demand the man’s hand and his ability to speak.

Is this how these wealthy young masters bully people? It’s complete lawlessness!

”Don’t do it!” Shen Monong panicked, quickly stepping in front of Ye Xiu. ”Young Master Lian,” she said sternly, ”I’m asking you again. Please, do me this favor and spare him.”

This girl has some integrity, Ye Xiu thought, watching her shield him. Too bad she’s from the Shen Family.

”Shen Monong!” Lian Zhengrong roared. ”If you dare say one more word for him, I’ll have both his hands and feet chopped off!”

”You...” Shen Monong was furious, but she didn’t dare plead for Ye Xiu any longer. She knew Lian Zhengrong was a man of his word.

She turned to Ye Xiu, her voice full of apology. ”I’m so sorry. I’m the one who got you into this. If you hadn’t tried to help me, you wouldn’t have offended Lian Zhengrong and ended up crippled.”

”You don’t want to marry him, do you?” Ye Xiu asked.

Shen Monong was taken aback. She couldn’t understand why he would ask such a thing at a time like this, but she answered anyway. ”People from prominent families don’t have the right to choose their own marriages.”

”So it seems you really don’t want to marry Lian Zhengrong,” Ye Xiu said.

Shen Monong didn’t reply, her silence a tacit admission.

Watching Ye Xiu and Shen Monong chat as if sparks of romance were about to fly, the onlookers were completely in awe. He was about to have his hand chopped off and his voice destroyed, yet he still had the presence of mind to discuss Shen Monong’s marriage. He was truly a master at courting death.

Lian Zhengrong was so enraged his breathing became ragged. He bellowed, ”Zhang Sheng, what the hell are you standing around for? Do it now!”
