Chapter 208: Chapter 208: I Don’t Gamble with the Poor

”This...” Li Yuefeng was dumbfounded, staring at the two bodyguards An Dongye had knocked cold in seconds.

He truly hadn’t expected An Dongye to be so formidable. A cold sweat broke out on his back; he was just thankful he hadn’t succeeded last night. Otherwise, all his friends and family would be attending his funeral feast today.

”These two are too weak. Why don’t you handle this yourself?” An Dongye said, flexing her wrists.

”I... I’ll let you off the hook for tonight. But if you don’t pay up by tomorrow, I’ll come looking for you,” Li Yuefeng said, steeling himself as he turned to leave.

But An Dongye blocked his way.

”An Dongye, what do you want?” Li Yuefeng felt incredibly nervous, but his words were defiant. ”Let me tell you, I’m the manager of the Crystal Palace! It’s owned by Lv Liang, the eldest young master of the Lv Family from Xuan Ling City. If you dare touch me, I guarantee you won’t live to see the sunrise.”

BANG!

An Dongye kicked Li Yuefeng squarely in the groin. Her tone was full of menace as she said, ”Cut the damn nonsense and pay up, or I’ll beat the shit out of you.”

Ye Xiu sucked in a cold breath. An Dongye is truly ruthless.

Li Yuefeng immediately collapsed, clutching his groin and convulsing on the ground. His whole body twitched, his face flushed beet-red, and his forehead beaded with sweat.

”Pay up now, or I’ll keep kicking. I’ll kick you until you pay,” An Dongye threatened, lifting her leg.

The threat scared Li Yuefeng witless. He quickly stammered, ”I’ll pay, I’ll pay...” Ignoring the throbbing pain, he fumbled for his phone. ”I... I’ll transfer you the money. How... how much was it again?”

”How much money is in your account?” An Dongye asked.

”Over five million...” Li Yuefeng blurted out and instantly regretted it.

An Dongye’s eyes lit up. ”Give it all to me. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you can never touch a woman for the rest of your life.” With that, she held out her bank card for him to see.

Li Yuefeng nearly choked on his rage, but he had no choice. Forcing down his heartache and fury, he transferred 5,000,000 to An Dongye.

The transfer was instantaneous.

”Haha, little bro, I’ve made my money back! Let’s quit gambling. My treat, let’s go get some roasted skewers,” An Dongye said, her interest in gambling completely gone now that she had the 5,000,000.

”Since we’re here, let’s go play for a bit,” Ye Xiu suggested.

”Okay!” An Dongye cheerfully agreed. She knocked Li Yuefeng unconscious with a kick, then added three more for good measure before shoving him and his two bodyguards into a dark corner. Only then did she follow Ye Xiu toward the Crystal Palace.

The Crystal Palace was a famous house of pleasure in Jin Ye City. It was not a place the average salaried worker could afford, but it was a frequent haunt for the sons of rich and powerful families. As they approached, a staff member came over, but before he could speak, An Dongye said, ”Take us to the casino.”

”Certainly, please follow me!” the staff member said with a smile.

They arrived on the basement floor, and a bustling wave of noise immediately washed over them. The casino was vast and looked very professional. It was packed with a jostling crowd, and business was clearly booming.

”Tsk, tsk. If it isn’t Miss An. Didn’t have enough fun last night? Back for more already?” a young man said with a laugh as he walked over, his tone teasing.

”Zhang Wenyi, don’t get cocky. I guarantee you’ll be leaving here bare-assed tonight,” An Dongye retorted coldly.

”Is that so? How about we find a spot and play a few hands?” Zhang Wenyi taunted.

”The one gambling with you tonight isn’t me, it’s him,” An Dongye said, pointing at Ye Xiu.

Only then did Zhang Wenyi size up Ye Xiu. He said disdainfully, ”I don’t gamble with paupers.”

”I’m so poor, all I have left is money,” Ye Xiu said with a smile.

”Bullshit!” Zhang Wenyi scoffed. ”Judging by your appearance, you’d be lucky to have a few hundred thousand on you. But whatever, that’s still money. I’ve got nothing better to do, so I’ll play with you for a bit. Come on, I’ll take you to get some chips.” Without waiting for Ye Xiu’s response, he led the way.

Ye Xiu chuckled. This guy has the face of someone destined for bankruptcy.

They arrived at the chip exchange counter.

Zhang Wenyi asked Ye Xiu, ”How many chips are you planning to get? I’m not interested in wasting my time over three or five thousand.”

Ye Xiu ignored him, handing his bank card to the staff member. ”Give me 100 million Xuanse Currency in chips.”

The staff member was shocked. ”Sir, are... are you serious?”

”Don’t listen to his nonsense!” Zhang Wenyi jeered. ”Kid, you should pick a better place to show off. Since this casino opened, no one has ever exchanged 100 million in chips at once. Besides, with the way you look, could you even have 100 million?”

”Little bro, maybe exchange a little less. One hundred million is a lot,” An Dongye advised, though she didn’t actually doubt that Ye Xiu had that much money.

”Since we’re here, we might as well have a real blast!” Ye Xiu said with a slight smile, then turned to the staff member. ”Make it 100 million!”

”Alright!” The staff member gave Ye Xiu a look as if he were an idiot. Let’s see how you’re going to save face when your card doesn’t have enough money.

But when Ye Xiu entered his PIN, the staff member was stunned. She truly hadn’t expected his card to actually contain 100 million!

Zhang Wenyi was also flabbergasted. This ragged-looking guy is actually that rich? Haha! My luck has turned tonight! I’m going to make a fortune!

”So, how much are you exchanging for?” Ye Xiu asked tauntingly as he took the tray piled high with chips from the staff member. He looked at Zhang Wenyi and said, ”If you want to gamble with me, you’ll need to exchange at least 100 million in chips, too. I don’t gamble with paupers!”

SMACK!

Zhang Wenyi felt as if he’d been slapped across the face. He had just said he wouldn’t gamble with paupers, and now Ye Xiu was throwing those exact words back at him. What made it even more humiliating was that he didn’t actually have 100 million.

Steeling himself, he said, ”Even if I only get 100 Xuanse Currency in chips, I can still win your entire 100 million.”

”Just say how much you have. Tell you what, exchange all the money you have for chips. For today, I’ll make an exception and gamble with a pauper,” Ye Xiu said.

Zhang Wenyi’s face flushed red. Exchanging all his money for chips would expose his entire net worth. I’m always bragging about how rich I am. If everyone finds out my entire net worth is this pathetic, how can I ever show my face in the casino again?

But the thought of winning Ye Xiu’s 100 million was too tempting. Zhang Wenyi gritted his teeth. ”Fine, I’ll take that bet!”
