Medical and Martial God

Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Beating a Hasty Retreat, Giving Ye Xiu Face

”Ye Xiu, do you see how formidable I am now?” Mutou Bingyuan sneered, unleashing a barrage of fierce attacks. ”If you beg for mercy right now and promise to stop those reporters from publicizing tonight’s events, I might spare you this one time.”

”Just fight properly,” Ye Xiu retorted.

”You...” Mutou Bingyuan took a deep breath, choking back his anger. ”Since you’re asking for a beating, I’ll oblige you.”

Without another word, he attacked Ye Xiu with his full strength. However, after attacking for some time, Mutou Bingyuan suddenly realized that Ye Xiu’s strength was only a fraction weaker than his own. It was simply impossible to defeat, let alone kill him.

Mutou Bingyuan was shocked. He and Ye Xiu were about the same age, so he wasn’t surprised that someone so young could possess the power of a War God. But for Ye Xiu to be a War God and also the Medicine King Xuanse—that was an almost obscene amount of talent. Everyone knew that studying Ancient Medicine required enormous energy and time, yet Ye Xiu had reached the peak of Medical Skills while also attaining the strength of a War God. This level of talent made Mutou Bingyuan burn with jealousy.

”Weren’t you going to beat me? Come on, hit me harder!” Ye Xiu taunted as they fought.

”You...” Fuming with frustration yet powerless against Ye Xiu, Mutou Bingyuan said coldly, ”I’ll let you go today. I’ll kill you another time!”

With that, he launched a powerful palm strike to push Ye Xiu back, then turned tail and ran. He was afraid Ye Xiu would call for Kuroki Suzu. If they teamed up on him, he would be at a serious disadvantage.

”Don’t run!” Ye Xiu yelled, pretending to give chase.

In reality, he was worried Mutou Bingyuan might harm Qin Qing and the others when he passed by Exhibition Hall No. 1. He had never intended to kill Mutou Bingyuan at all. Keeping him alive to report back to the Long Family was far more useful.

Mutou Bingyuan had originally planned to kill a few people as he passed Exhibition Hall No. 1, but he realized Ye Xiu’s speed matched his own. If he were to attack the people inside, Ye Xiu and Kuroki Suzu would surely seize the opportunity to trap him. Then I wouldn’t be able to escape! So, he simply fled.

”What was that just now?” Su Rui asked.

”I saw something flash past, too.”

”Could it be a ghost?”

A War God’s speed was too fast for ordinary eyes to follow. When Mutou Bingyuan escaped, Qin Qing and the others had only seen a fleeting black shadow.

”Everyone!” Ye Xiu suddenly appeared, startling Su Rui and the others. After they collected themselves, Su Rui asked, ”Divine Doctor Ye, what’s going on with Luo Kun? When did he become a Martial Artist?”

”It’s better if you don’t ask about this,” Ye Xiu said, then turned to the reporters. ”Ladies and gentlemen, could you do me a favor and not publicize what happened tonight?”

The reporters exchanged glances. Just moments earlier, they had been thinking about striking it rich. First, Su Muqing had made things difficult for Ye Xiu and then framed Qin Qing. On top of that, Divine Doctor Ye actually had a wife, and she was the chairwoman of the Zhulu Group. Finally, the young master of the Luo Family had egged Su Muqing on to target Ye Xiu. All of these were sensational news stories. If published, as reporters, they would receive a huge bonus.

”Divine Doctor Ye, a reporter’s duty is to reveal the truth. We can’t pretend we didn’t see what we saw.”

”After how the Su Family and Luo Kun have treated you, there’s no need for you to cover for them.”

”Luo Kun incited Su Muqing to make things difficult for you and frame your wife. That’s infuriating, and I feel it’s my responsibility to let the public know.”

The reporters all spoke with righteous indignation, but in reality, none of them wanted to pass up the story.

Su Rui and Su Muqing were panicking. Even if Ye Xiu didn’t hold a press conference, the reporters simply spreading the news would still be a heavy blow to the Su Family.

”How about this? I’ll give each of you 100,000 yuan to compensate for your trouble. What do you think?” Ye Xiu asked.

The reporters fell silent. They could see that Ye Xiu was genuinely trying to protect the Su and Luo Families. If they insisted on revealing the truth, they would offend him.

”Forget the money. Since you’ve asked, Divine Doctor Ye, I’m willing to do you this favor.”

”There’s no need to be so formal, Divine Doctor Ye. You’re the victim tonight. Since you don’t wish to retaliate against the Su and Luo Families, we naturally won’t kick them while they’re down.”

”I’ll definitely do you this favor, Divine Doctor Ye. All right, I won’t leak tonight’s events. As for the 100,000 yuan, I don’t want it.”

The reporters all declared they would honor Ye Xiu’s request and declined the money. They hoped to use this opportunity to build a good relationship with him, which would make it easier to interview him or ask for medical treatment in the future.

”Then I thank you all,” Ye Xiu smiled and gave Su Rui a subtle look.

Su Rui instantly understood Ye Xiu’s meaning: he wanted him to offer the reporters some money as compensation. So, he said, ”Thank you all for helping conceal tonight’s events. As a token of our gratitude, I will compensate you shortly.”

The reporters didn’t refuse. It would be foolish to turn down free money from the Su Family.

Seeing they didn’t object, Su Rui breathed a sigh of relief and said gratefully to Ye Xiu, ”Divine Doctor Ye, thank you so much. If it weren’t for your help, the Su Family would have suffered a great loss, and my sister would have been thrown to the wolves of public opinion.”

Su Muqing came over and apologized, ”Divine Doctor Ye, I’m sorry.”

”There’s no need for thanks or apologies. Why don’t you two just show us around?” Ye Xiu smiled.

”Of course!” Su Rui and Su Muqing readily agreed.

「...」

After escaping the exhibition hall, Mutou Bingyuan boarded an executive van. In the van, besides the driver, sat three other men.

”Young Master, did your plan succeed?” Sasaki, seated in the passenger seat, asked eagerly.

”It failed,” Mutou Bingyuan said, his face dark. ”Not only did the plan fail, but my identity was exposed.”

”How is that possible?” Sasaki asked in shock. ”Your identity is known only to the War Gods of the Tiansha Association, and of course, the three Great Grandmasters in this very van. How did Ye Xiu find out?”

”Kuroki Suzu has defected to Ye Xiu,” Mutou Bingyuan said coldly.

”What...” The expressions on Sasaki and the other three men turned grim. The four of them were here to wait for Ye Xiu, Qin Qing, and Kuroki Suzu to leave the exhibition hall, then attack Kuroki Suzu under the pretext of ”cleaning house.” This was supposed to convince Ye Xiu that Kuroki Suzu had truly betrayed the Tiansha Association.

And now, she had actually defected to Ye Xiu.

”This is a classic case of shooting ourselves in the foot,” Sasaki lamented. ”We came to Jin Ye City to deal with Ye Xiu, and we ended up giving him a War God as an ally.”

One of the Great Grandmasters said, ”Young Master, why don’t we just kill Kuroki Suzu when they come out? You and Lord Sasaki joining forces should be enough to kill her.”

”Ye Xiu is also a War God, and his strength is only slightly less than mine,” Mutou Bingyuan said through gritted teeth. ”With his help, Sasaki and I couldn’t kill Kuroki Suzu even if we teamed up!”

Sasaki and the three Great Grandmasters were stunned. They truly hadn’t expected Ye Xiu to be a War God.

”Call Headquarters immediately,” Mutou Bingyuan ordered, his voice cold and his face grim. ”Kidnap Kuroki Suzu’s family and force her to continue working for the Tiansha Association.”
