Medical and Martial God

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Trading Marriage for Leverage

”Murong, you are outrageous!” a bald old man chided. ”Divine Doctor Ye funded the construction of Shenghe Medical Academy and is allowing you all to study here for free...”

”Director Hong!” Murong cut the bald old man off sharply. ”Does the fact that Ye Xiu funded Shenghe Medical Academy give him the right to destroy it? Once word gets out that he’s a teacher here, not only will the academy’s reputation be ruined, but all the faculty and students will be dragged down with him.”

”You...” Director Hong didn’t know how to retort because Murong was telling the truth. Ye Xiu’s appointment as a teacher was indeed a huge risk for Shenghe Medical Academy and all its faculty and students.

At that moment, all the teachers and students turned to look at Ye Xiu, wanting to know how he would respond to Murong’s question—or more precisely, how he would resolve the issue she had raised.

”Anyone who fears being implicated can drop out,” Ye Xiu said, watching Murong with a smile. ”Anyone who knows I was framed but is still unwilling to take a risk doesn’t deserve to learn my Medical Skills, nor do they deserve to be a student of Shenghe Medical Academy.”

All the teachers and students were stunned silent. Even Ming Yue was dumbfounded.

No one had expected Ye Xiu to refuse to answer Murong’s question, instead coldly and forcefully announcing his terms.

Just then, the Ghost Doctor walked in. ”Those who want to drop out, come with me. I’ll personally handle your withdrawal procedures.”

All the teachers and students watched the Ghost Doctor in shock. No one expected his stance to be just as firm as Ye Xiu’s.

”Principal, you are deeply admired in the medical community. Aren’t you afraid of being implicated by Ye Xiu?” Murong asked.

”Good question!” the Ghost Doctor sneered. ”You don’t understand me. I have never considered myself a doctor, nor do I care about empty fame. If it hadn’t been for my master’s order, I wouldn’t have challenged all the renowned doctors across the country, let alone taken on this damn role as principal.”

His words sent a shockwave through the teachers and students. No one doubted the Ghost Doctor’s words. Back when he had defeated all the renowned doctors in the country and cavalierly discarded the Medicine King plaque, refusing the title of Medicine King, the medical community knew that he didn’t care about his reputation.

”Anyone who wants to drop out, hurry up. I don’t have all day to wait on you,” the Ghost Doctor’s eyes swept coldly over all the teachers and students in the classroom as he urged them impatiently.

Nobody made a peep.

Only a fool would drop out! Even if Ye Xiu wasn’t wrongly accused back then, we’re still willing to risk being implicated by him just to learn his Medical Skills.

”Since no one is dropping out, then stop your fucking babbling and focus on the class,” the Ghost Doctor muttered, stole a glance at Ye Xiu, and then hurried off. He was just adding his own bit of drama, afraid Ye Xiu would reprimand him.

”Alright then, if you have any questions, go ahead and ask,” Ye Xiu said with a smile. ”Try to keep them related to medicine.”

No one spoke. Everyone was still reeling from the earlier confrontation.

”Divine Doctor Ye, I’d like to ask a question about liver diseases...” someone finally asked, breaking the silence.

Ye Xiu was patient and professional, answering every question thrown at him. Gradually, the atmosphere in the classroom grew lively.

Ming Yue sat at the back of the classroom, browsing through the chat history of the ’Kill Ye Xiu Fund Group’.

”All the money the Li Family had in the bank and all the funds in Ruiding Pharmaceuticals’ accounts have vanished without a trace...”

”The Li Family’s cars, properties, shares in Ruiding Pharmaceuticals, and other investments have all been seized by the courts...”

”All the Li Family’s cell phone numbers have been disconnected. Their watches, jewelry, and other valuables have all been confiscated by Meng Shaoxiong and his men...”

”The Li Family is completely ruined. They have nothing left but the clothes on their backs.”

Reading this, Ming Yue was aghast. In just a few hours, the Li Family and Ruiding Pharmaceuticals had been completely destroyed? Good heavens! The sheer viciousness of Ye Xiu’s methods, the speed and efficiency of his attack, and the complexity of the network he had mobilized were staggering—practically unheard of.

Ming Yue continued reading.

”Ye Xiu is terrifying. Even united, we’re no match for him.”

”I think we should sell our family businesses and take the money to flee abroad for refuge.”

”Does anyone want to buy my family’s enterprise? The price is negotiable.”

”Elder Ming, how about I sell my family’s entire pharmacy chain to you?”

In the rest of the chat log, no one was discussing how to deal with Ye Xiu anymore. All the masterminds behind the plot had been scared into a panic, and they were now discussing selling off their fixed assets and how to flee the country.

Ming Yue cursed internally as she read the chat log. A bunch of cowards and wimps. In my opinion, while Ye Xiu is fearsome, our situation isn’t hopeless yet. If we all worked together, we’d still have a chance to eliminate him. But now everyone is backing out. How can the Ming Family possibly contend with Ye Xiu all by ourselves?

Just then, a text message popped up on her phone.

It was from Ming Hao: ”Ming Yue, the Xing Family has come to propose again. Given the Ming Family’s current situation, Grandfather hopes you will consider it carefully.”

Her brow furrowed. She was beautiful, had a good figure, was highly capable, and came from a good family. As a result, she had countless suitors, including many young masters from wealthy and powerful families. She could pick any one of them to marry and live the rest of her life as a comfortable, wealthy wife, and the Ming Family and the Ming Corporation would soar as a result. But she didn’t want to trade her lifelong happiness for personal gain. She wanted to marry for love! But now, faced with the immense pressure from Ye Xiu, she had to consider using her marriage as a bargaining chip.

After much deliberation, Ming Yue sent a text back to Ming Hao: ”Tell Grandfather to agree to the Xing Family, but on one condition: I don’t want to get married this year, and, before the marriage, I will not be intimate with Xing Haiqing.”

Ming Hao: ”Okay!”

Putting her phone away, Ming Yue stood up and left the classroom.

Now that she had the Xing Family as her trump card, there was no longer any need to fear Ye Xiu. There was no need to keep up the act in front of him either. She would be her true self again and confront Ye Xiu head-on.

Ye Xiu noticed Ming Yue leaving but paid it no mind, continuing to answer questions from the teachers and students.

By now, all the teachers and students were completely won over by Ye Xiu’s Medical Skills. No matter what kind of question they posed, Ye Xiu always had the perfect answer. Some of his solutions, though unconventional and even heretical, were incredibly effective.

The class continued until five in the afternoon. Although the students and teachers were still eager for more, Ye Xiu announced that class was over.
