Medical and Martial God

Chapter 29: Chapter 29

”You shouldn’t be concerned about that right now, should you?”

Ye Xiu drained his glass in one gulp, casually tossed the cup into Zhu Xiaowen’s arms, and picked up a rubber baton a bodyguard had dropped on the ground. ”Yesterday, at the airport, I crippled the butler and two bodyguards to strike fear into the Ye Family, but it seems to have had no effect,” he said with a smile. ”What do you think? Would the Ye Family be scared if I killed the two of you?”

At those words, the color drained from Ye Xuan and Yue Chengfeng’s faces.

”Do you think being a Great Grandmaster makes you invincible?” Ye Xuan forced out, suppressing his fear. ”Don’t forget, the Ye Family also has a Great Grandmaster! And with our family’s prestige, we could invite half of the Great Grandmasters in the Ancient Martial Circle to come and kill you.”

Ye Xiu ignored his words and stepped toward him. ”Right now, I just want to kill you two. As for how the Ye Family retaliates, that’s a problem for later.”

This finally shattered the last line of defense in Ye Xuan’s mind.

”Don’t kill me! Brother, Big Brother, I’m your younger brother! You can’t kill me...”

Ye Xuan was terrified. For the first time in his life, he felt a desperate, hopeless fear.

”Big Brother?” The smile vanished from Ye Xiu’s face. His voice turned cold. ”When have you ever acknowledged me as your big brother?

”Was it when you pissed on my face?

”When you put rat poison in my food?

”Or was it just now, when you had a hundred bodyguards and Yue Chengfeng attack me?”

As he spoke, he advanced on Ye Xuan, his murderous aura intensifying with each step. ”If it wasn’t for your mother, my mother and I would never have been driven out of the Ye Family.

”Of course, when I won the title of Medicine King and was invited back, I wouldn’t have held a grudge if you and your mother had been just a little bit nicer to me.

”But what a pity. You never even saw me as human.”

Ye Xuan and Yue Chengfeng didn’t register his words; they were paralyzed with fear by the killing intent radiating from him.

How many people must he have killed to accumulate such an astounding murderous aura?

Only then did they realize that Ye Xiu’s strength was so formidable. He must have survived countless life-or-death battles, killed innumerable people, and accumulated vast amounts of combat experience and killing intent.

”Brother, spare me! I’ll go back and talk to Dad and Grandfather! I’ll ask them to let you return to the Ye Family! Please don’t kill me, I beg you! As long as you don’t kill me, I’ll do anything...” Ye Xuan completely broke down, kneeling on the ground and wailing for Ye Xiu’s forgiveness.

”Get up, Young Master! Even if you kowtow until your head splits open, he won’t spare us! We might as well fight him!” Yue Chengfeng glared at Ye Xiu, his sword held ready and his fighting spirit surging.

”Not bad. You’ve got some backbone,” Ye Xiu said with a cold laugh. ”Come on. If you can take one move from me, I’ll let you and Ye Xuan return to the Ye Family in one piece.”

”Really?” Yue Chengfeng’s eyes brightened as if he saw a flicker of hope. Ye Xuan grew excited as well.

”I haven’t stooped so low as to deceive two pieces of trash,” Ye Xiu said disdainfully.

WHOOSH!

The moment Ye Xiu finished speaking, Yue Chengfeng made his move.

The timing was impeccable! In his view, Ye Xiu had just finished speaking; he was completely unprepared and full of openings. A surprise attack now would surely succeed!

BANG!

Ye Xiu simply kicked out. Yue Chengfeng went flying again.

This time he didn’t fly far. He executed a beautiful 360-degree spin in midair before using a Thousand Catty Drop to land.

Yue Chengfeng’s attack had failed. This meant Ye Xiu was now going to kill both him and Ye Xuan.

”You peed yourself.”

Ye Xiu squatted in front of Ye Xuan and pointed at his crotch. Everyone followed his gesture and saw a large, dark patch spreading across Ye Xuan’s pants.

PFFT!

Many people covered their mouths, trying to stifle their laughter.

The famous Ye Xuan had actually wet himself from fear!

”Brother...” At this point, Ye Xuan couldn’t care less about his pride. He looked at Ye Xiu with teary eyes, begging pitifully, ”Spare me, brother, I beg you...”

”Actually, I wasn’t going to kill you. I was just scaring you,” Ye Xiu said, patting Ye Xuan’s shoulder. ”If I kill you, who will go back and tell the Ye Family how strong I am? If they don’t know my strength, how can they fear me? Isn’t that right?”

Ye Xuan nodded his head furiously. ”Right, right, right... AHHH!”

Ye Xiu swung the baton down on Ye Xuan’s left knee. With a sickening CRACK, the kneecap shattered in a comminuted fracture.

”AHHHH!”

As the agony of shattered bone shot through his body like electricity, Ye Xuan let out a scream like a slaughtered pig.

”Go back and tell that beast Ye Zhong and that old fool Ye Tianming that my mother is very lonely in the heavens. I will personally send everyone from the Ye Family to join her. Do you hear me?” Ye Xiu said calmly.

Ye Xuan didn’t respond; the pain from his leg was so intense it sent him into convulsions.

”Did you hear me?”

CRACK! Ye Xiu swung the baton again, smashing Ye Xuan’s right leg.

”AHHHH!” Ye Xuan screamed again, staring at Ye Xiu in terror, his whole body trembling violently. ”You’re not human! You’re not human! You’re a devil! A devil!”

”I wanted to be human. You’re the ones who forced me to become a devil.” Ye Xiu tossed the baton aside, got up, and said to Yue Chengfeng, ”Take him away.”

Yue Chengfeng froze for a second. He had been sure Ye Xiu would cripple his legs, too, but he had only broken Ye Xuan’s. He was so overjoyed that he hoisted up the screaming Ye Xuan and sprinted away.

Everyone present stared, dumbfounded, at Yue Chengfeng’s retreating back.

An Eighth Grade Grandmaster, ecstatic to escape?

They all turned their eyes back to Ye Xiu. At that moment, his image loomed larger than ever. It was as if they were transported back ten years to the era he dominated, a time when their parents constantly used him as a benchmark to scold them.

”Look at Ye Xiu, he was the Xuanse Medicine King at sixteen! Now look at you, good for nothing but eating everything in sight...”

”Son, I’m not asking you to reach Ye Xiu’s level. If you just had one-tenth of his ability, our ancestral graves would be smoking with pride.”

”Ye Xiu is famous all over the world, and you’re still coming in last on your exams...”

Their elders’ words echoed in their ears. Looking at the man before them now, everyone was overwhelmed by a profound sense of inferiority.

He won the title of Xuanse Medicine King at sixteen and became a Great Grandmaster at twenty-six.

My God, they would never be able to step out of his shadow in this lifetime.

”Why are you all staring at me? Get the party started!” Ye Xiu said with a grin, seeing all the young masters and ladies watching him.

Heh. Party? Yeah, right! Who could possibly feel like partying now? Besides, you just shattered Ye Xuan’s legs. Could you maybe not smile so creepily? What a freak!

But these were all people who had seen the world. They no longer needed to model their lives after Ye Xiu; focusing on being profligate heirs was their true calling.

And so, the music blared, the drinks flowed, and the hips swayed.

”Brother Ye, you’re not still mad at me for stopping you from saving Wangcai, are you?” Zhu Xiaowen came over and asked timidly.

”Of course not!” Ye Xiu laughed.

Zhu Xiaowen instantly brightened up.

Just then, Yun Lan approached. ”I’m sorry, Brother Ye. I didn’t know you were Ye Xiu, and I didn’t know Ye Xuan was here for you, so...”

”Let’s not dwell on the past. Let’s drink,” Ye Xiu interrupted her.

”Right, let’s drink!” Yun Lan smiled. ”Being happy is what’s most important right now! Let’s not go home until we’re drunk!”

Under the flashing neon lights and to the pounding beat of the DJ, the group drank and danced with abandon, as if no one even noticed the hundred bodyguards still lying unconscious on the ground.

On the villa’s rooftop, Qin Qing stared through a pair of binoculars at the wild party unfolding at Zhu Xiaowen’s house. ”Did he often party like this during those ten years abroad?” she asked Chloe, who stood beside her.

”This is the first time I’ve ever seen him like this,” Chloe responded respectfully.

Qin Qing’s heart felt as if it had been stabbed, and a shiver of pain ran through her.

So... it turned out that all those ten years he was abroad, Ye Xiu had never been happy.
