Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The Scumbag

”Grandfather, please get up!” Having figured out Ye Xiu’s intentions, Qin Qing hurriedly helped Qin Fugui to his feet. ”Although you disowned me, I will always be a member of the Qin Family, and I won’t let the Qin Corporation go bankrupt.”

”But Ye Xiu has already issued the order!” Qin Fugui said, trembling violently.

Qin Qing looked at Ding Manlin. ”Ms. Ding, can I revoke Ye Xiu’s order?”

WHOOSH!

Everyone from the Qin Corporation whipped their heads toward Ding Manlin, their eyes filled with expectation and pleading.

”Of course!” Ding Manlin said with a slight smile. ”Mr. Ye once said that your word at the Zhulu Group is an Imperial Edict. Even if you’re wrong, all employees of the Zhulu Group must execute your orders unconditionally.”

Although Qin Qing was Ye Xiu’s wife, if Ye Xiu hadn’t given prior instructions, Ding Manlin would never have defied any of his commands.

”Grandfather, you can rest assured now, can’t you?” Qin Qing said with a gentle smile.

Qin Fugui was more than relieved; he was already scheming. Since Qin Qing’s word is law at the Zhulu Group, doesn’t that mean that with a single sentence from her, the Zhulu Group’s resources could be funneled to the Qin Corporation for free?

At this thought, Qin Fugui put on a display of shame. ”It was I who was blind. Grandfather failed to see Ye Xiu’s potential. You have a good eye for character, Qin Qing. I’m old now; the future of the Qin Family rests on your shoulders.”

”It’s all right now that the misunderstanding is cleared. Please don’t dwell on it,” Qin Qing consoled him.

”Good, good, good. Qin Qing, you’re a good child, my good granddaughter.” Qin Fugui managed to squeeze out a couple of tears, wiping them away before continuing, ”Tonight, I’ll have your grandmother cook personally. You and Ye Xiu must come home for dinner.”

”Okay, Ye Xiu and I will definitely be there,” Qin Qing said happily.

Just then, Ding Manlin added, ”Mr. Ye said that for the time being, he doesn’t want outsiders to know about his connection to the Zhulu Group. He also asked that the secret of you being the group’s chairperson not be revealed for now.”

”Rest assured, our lips are sealed,” Qin Fugui quickly declared.

Of course, he would keep the secret! Although the Zhulu Group belonged to Ye Xiu, if Ye Xiu were to be killed by his enemies, the group would belong to Qin Qing and the Qin Family. If the world found out that the Zhulu Group was Ye Xiu’s before he died, wouldn’t it be buried under a mountain of public scorn?

---

After leaving the Zhulu Group, Ye Xiu wandered aimlessly. In the ten years he had been abroad, Jin Ye City had changed so much that it felt unfamiliar.

Just then, his phone rang. It was Ming Yue.

”Brother Ye, where are you?” Ming Yue’s flirtatious, coquettish voice drifted from the phone, making Ye Xiu’s blood stir.

”Would you believe me if I said I’m lost?” Ye Xiu asked, looking around with a headache.

PFFT!

Ming Yue burst out laughing on the other end. ”Send me your location and don’t move. I’ll come find you.”

”Alright then!” Ye Xiu replied. He sent his location to Ming Yue and sat on the curb to wait.

A little over ten minutes later, a Ferrari pulled up in front of him.

”Brother Ye, how did you end up here all by yourself? Where’s Qin Qing?” The car window rolled down, revealing Ming Yue’s stunningly exquisite face.

”Qin Qing’s busy, so I came out for a stroll,” Ye Xiu said as he climbed into the passenger seat, unabashedly checking Ming Yue out.

Today, she wore delicate makeup, her long hair tied back in a ponytail. She had on a white V-neck T-shirt and a pair of very short, white, ripped denim shorts.

”What are you staring at? Go home and look at your wife,” Ming Yue chided playfully, her cheeks flushing. She was secretly pleased, though!

”Ahem...” Ye Xiu awkwardly averted his gaze. ”It’s almost noon. Shall we get some lunch?”

”Sure! What would you like to eat, Brother Ye? My treat,” Ming Yue said playfully. Of course, she knew full well that no self-respecting man would actually let a woman pay.

”You pick the place,” Ye Xiu said.

”Okay!” Ming Yue cheerfully agreed.

Soon, the two arrived at a barbecue restaurant. It was very down-to-earth.

”The skewers here are amazing. You don’t mind, do you, Brother Ye?” Ming Yue asked playfully after they sat down.

”I’m not picky!” Ye Xiu said, glancing around the restaurant. He noticed that everyone was staring at Ming Yue. The men, in particular, stared at her with unconcealed lust and greed.

Ming Yue seemed completely used to it, not minding the attention in the slightest.

”Aren’t you afraid of running into thugs when you’re dressed like that?” Ye Xiu asked.

”No one dares to cause trouble these days,” Ming Yue said with a smile. ”Besides, what’s the point of looking good if not for others to see? I can’t just dress like a country bumpkin because I’m worried about running into a pervert.”

Ye Xiu smiled but said nothing.

At that moment, a waiter approached their table. ”Hello, beautiful,” he said to Ming Yue. ”Brother Fei invites you to join him for a couple of drinks.”

”Brother Fei?”

Ye Xiu and Ming Yue followed the waiter’s gaze to a fat man with a thick gold chain around his neck and a large gold watch on his wrist. He was lecherously eyeing Ming Yue’s legs. At his table were several other young men in flashy clothes, all of them staring at her lustfully.

This annoyed Ming Yue greatly. She had just said no one would dare to cause trouble, and now someone was here to prove her wrong.

”Tell him to get lost,” she said, her expression turning cold.

The waiter frowned. ”Miss, it’s your honor to be noticed by Brother Fei. In this corner of Gusu City, there’s nothing he can’t handle. Plenty of beautiful women throw themselves at him, but he turns them all down. For him to take an interest in you... it’s your lucky day. Don’t be ungrateful.”

His tone implied that by refusing Brother Fei’s invitation, Ming Yue was missing out on a massive opportunity.

Ming Yue looked at Ye Xiu, shooting him frantic glances that clearly said, ”Someone is hitting on me, aren’t you going to do something?”

”Why don’t you go over and have a couple of drinks with him?” Ye Xiu suggested with a faint smile.

Ming Yue: ”???”

The waiter and the other patrons in the restaurant were stunned into silence. When Brother Fei had first sent the waiter over, they assumed that Ye Xiu, as the man at the table, would naturally refuse. They expected Brother Fei to then beat him up and force Ming Yue to have drinks with him.

But now...

Ye Xiu was actually suggesting she go drink with Brother Fei!

He was scum. Utter scum. Worse than an animal.

”Miss, I truly feel sorry for you, having a boyfriend like that.” The waiter shot Ye Xiu a disdainful look before turning back to Ming Yue. ”Why don’t you just get with Brother Fei? You’ll live a life of luxury. And I’m not just saying that—this barbecue restaurant is one of Brother Fei’s properties.”

”I’m not interested!” Ming Yue said, suppressing her rage as she glared resentfully at Ye Xiu.

”Miss, being coy is one thing, but an opportunity like this won’t come knocking twice.” The waiter, assuming Ming Yue was just playing hard to get, pointed at Ye Xiu contemptuously. ”Brother Fei is much better than this wimp you’re with. If you pass this up, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.”

As he spoke, his eyes were filled with scorn for Ye Xiu.

”Get lost!” Ming Yue finally snapped, her voice a furious shout.
