Medical and Martial God

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Probing the Reality

「Yunluo City!」

All the direct descendants of the Ye Family hurriedly arrived at the old mansion.

”Dad, why did you call us here so urgently in the middle of the night? What happened?” Ye Xuan’s mother, Zheng Yiwen, inquired.

She was the mistress who had once instigated Ye Zhong to expel Ye Xiu and his mother from the Ye Family.

”Ye Xiu crippled Ye Xuan’s legs,” Ye Tianming said with a grim face, sitting on the sofa.

What?

Every member of the Ye Family was utterly shocked.

”How is that possible? Ye Xuan is a Fifth Grade expert, and he had Eighth Grade Grandmaster Yue Chengfeng with him. How could that good-for-nothing Ye Xiu possibly hurt him?” Zheng Yiwen said in disbelief.

”That’s right, Dad. This is simply impossible. Ye Xiu has been abroad for ten years. Even if he learned some Kung Fu, there’s no way he could beat Ye Xuan,” Ye Zhong challenged from his wheelchair.

The other members of the Ye Family, once their shock subsided, were also filled with disbelief.

”We have all underestimated Ye Xiu,” Ye Tianming said in a low voice. ”According to Yue Chengfeng’s phone call, he couldn’t withstand a single move from Ye Xiu and couldn’t even see the speed of his attack.”

What?

This time, everyone in the Ye Family was terrified.

”A Great Grandmaster?” Ye Zhong exclaimed. ”Are you saying Ye Xiu is a Great Grandmaster?”

The Ye Family members all voiced their skepticism. Not a single person believed that Ye Xiu was a Great Grandmaster. ”Impossible! Yue Chengfeng must be talking nonsense. That’s a ridiculous claim! Ye Xiu was born with abnormal meridians and can’t cultivate Inner Strength. Besides, he’s only twenty-six—how could he possibly have reached the Great Grandmaster Realm? Ye Xuan and Yue Chengfeng must have been tricked by Ye Xiu. They’re just too embarrassed to admit it, so they made up this lie about him being a Great Grandmaster! Ye Xiu is a Divine Doctor; it wouldn’t be hard for him to use some poison to take them down. But to say he’s a Great Grandmaster? I wouldn’t believe it even if you beat me to death!”

”I also feel something is wrong with this,” Ye Tianming said. ”With Ye Xiu’s medical skills, it’s not entirely impossible for him to have fixed his meridian issues, as unbelievable as that sounds. But to say he’s a Great Grandmaster is something I refuse to believe.”

”Could Ye Xiu have taken some kind of drug?” Zheng Yiwen speculated. ”With his medical skills, creating a drug that temporarily boosts one’s strength dramatically wouldn’t be difficult.”

”That’s almost certainly the case,” Ye Tianming stated with conviction. ”Ten years ago, when Ye Xiu returned to the Ye Family, I asked him if he could create a drug that could rapidly increase one’s strength. At the time, he said it was indeed possible, but the side effects were severe, so I lost interest.”

He paused for a moment before continuing, ”Ye Xiu likely did embark on the path of Ancient Martial Arts cultivation, and his strength probably reached the Sixth or Seventh Grade. Realizing he was no match for Yue Chengfeng, he must have taken a drug to forcibly enhance his power, which is how he defeated him in a single move. If my guess is correct, by now Ye Xiu must be suffering from the drug’s backlash. He’s probably either severely injured or his cultivation has been destroyed.”

Hearing Ye Tianming’s analysis, Zheng Yiwen gave a sinister smile. ”Doesn’t that mean now is the perfect time to capture Ye Xiu?”

”Exactly!” Ye Tianming nodded, his gaze sweeping over all the Ye Family members. ”Who is willing to go and bring Ye Xiu back?”

”I’ll go!” Zheng Yiwen eagerly volunteered.

”No!” Ye Tianming refused without hesitation. ”From the day you married into the Ye Family, you’ve never given up on getting rid of Ye Xiu. If I send you, what chance would he have of survival?”

”Dad, you misunderstand me,” Zheng Yiwen said, her voice full of grievance. ”Ye Zhong is my husband, and he’s paralyzed in a wheelchair because of a strange poison. Ye Xuan is my son, and his legs have been broken. Until Ye Xiu has healed them, I wouldn’t let him die even if it cost me my own life.”

”Dad, just let Yiwen go,” Ye Zhong said.

”Alright, then!” Ye Tianming finally relented. ”Although Ye Xiu is likely suffering from the drug’s backlash and has little ability to resist, we can’t guarantee he won’t have help. Take Luo Senyuan with you. With him and Yue Chengfeng assisting you, no one will be able to stop you from bringing Ye Xiu back.”

”Don’t worry, I’ll leave right now,” Zheng Yiwen said impatiently. ”I will definitely bring Ye Xiu back by tomorrow evening at the latest.”

Ye Tianming nodded.

In the eyes of the Ye Family, with Ye Xiu suffering from a drug’s backlash and severely injured, there was no doubt that Zheng Yiwen, accompanied by two Eighth Grade Grandmasters, would succeed in bringing him back.

However, they didn’t know that Ye Xiu wasn’t suffering from any backlash, nor was he injured in the slightest. At that very moment, he was having a great time at Zhu Xiaowen’s house.

The next morning, when Qin Qing woke up, she found that Ye Xiu wasn’t in bed beside her.

She got up, walked to the window, and pulled back the curtains to look outside.

Sure enough, Ye Xiu was practicing his swordsmanship.

Qin Qing gasped.

Ye Xiu had been out until after three in the morning, yet here he was, already up and practicing his swordsmanship.

Success truly doesn’t come by chance.

Qin Qing went downstairs and sat on the steps, resting her chin in her hands as she admired Ye Xiu’s training. Anything done to perfection becomes a form of art, and Ye Xiu’s swordsmanship was exactly that. Although she didn’t understand martial arts, his blade work gave her a feeling of effortless perfection. The longer she watched, the more captivating it became.

”Can you teach me?” Qin Qing couldn’t help but ask.

Ye Xiu was taken aback. ”Why would you want to learn this?”

Qin Qing thought for a moment and said, ”If I don’t learn some martial arts, my position as head of the household won’t be secure.”

Ye Xiu was speechless.

”That’s settled, then. Starting tomorrow morning, you’ll teach me martial arts,” Qin Qing announced decisively.

”Are you serious?” Ye Xiu asked.

Qin Qing’s pretty face turned solemn. ”Your martial arts are incredible. Your enemies can’t touch you, but they can use me to threaten you.”

Ye Xiu understood then; she wanted to learn martial arts so she wouldn’t become a liability.

It wasn’t really necessary, though. Someone was already protecting her in secret.

However, Ye Xiu didn’t refuse. ”Then it’s a deal. Starting tomorrow, you’ll get up early and train with me.”

”Great!” Qin Qing replied happily before heading back inside to wash up.

After breakfast, Qin Qing had to go to work. She had just taken over the Zhulu Group and needed to familiarize herself with its complex operations as quickly as possible.

Ye Xiu didn’t go anywhere. He lay lazily on the grass in the backyard, his eyes closed, seemingly lost in thought.

”Big Brother Ye!”

At that moment, Ming Yue came bouncing over, wearing a tight black camisole and a white miniskirt.

Ye Xiu opened his eyes.

”Big Brother Ye, why is your face so red? And you’ve got a nosebleed!” Ming Yue exclaimed, completely unaware that she was the reason for his condition.

Earlier that morning in the ”Kill Ye Xiu Fund” group chat, someone had brought up how Ye Xiu had crippled Ye Xuan the night before. They claimed he had only beaten Yue Chengfeng so easily because he had taken a performance-enhancing drug. That person insisted the drug had severe side effects and that Ye Xiu was now severely injured, making it the perfect time to kill him. Consequently, the masterminds behind the group had unanimously nominated Ming Yue to go to Ye Xiu’s house and investigate the situation.

She took in his flushed, purple-red face and the trickle of blood from his nose. It’s just as they said! He looks severely injured!

”COUGH, COUGH. It’s nothing, really,” Ye Xiu said, forcing a smile as he used all his willpower to look away from her. ”I stewed two pots of ginseng this morning and just had a bit too much.”
