Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 771, Jin Zhan’s Old Fanboy!?

Translator: Silavin

To be honest, when Jin Zhan first saw these Fallen Corpse Puppets, his heart skipped a beat, wondering how so many powerful Fallen Corpse Puppets had suddenly appeared here.

If all these Fallen Corpse Puppets charged to the frontline, the front would likely collapse before long, unable to hold their ground.

But now, Lu Fan was claiming that all these were his Fallen Corpse Puppets. How could Jin Zhan not be surprised?

Lu Fan having Pet Dragons was one thing, but how did he also possess the ability to control Fallen Corpse Puppets!?

[What exactly is the relationship between Lu Fan and the Ancient God of the Far North?]

Seeing the confusion in Jin Zhan’s eyes, Lu Fan voluntarily explained in a few words how he had acquired the ability to create Fallen Corpse Puppets.

Since these matters could be corroborated by Tu Jing, Jin Zhan had no reason to doubt him. After all, these were things that could be verified by asking Tu Jing. So, how could Lu Fan possibly deceive him?

Although he knew these Fallen Corpse Puppets were indeed Lu Fan’s without question, the fact that Lu Fan could assemble such a terrifying Fallen Corpse Puppet army still left Jin Zhan deeply shaken.

Despite having continuously raised his assessment of Lu Fan in his mind many times, each time, Lu Fan always managed to bring him different surprises.

Now knowing that the powerful forces here were Lu Fan’s Fallen Corpse Puppets, Jin Zhan felt at ease.

He did not follow Lu Fan down, instead remaining mounted on the Three Legged Fire Bird, hovering in mid-air, waiting for Lu Fan to handle affairs here before competing with him to see who could kill more Fallen Corpse Puppets.

Lu Fan wasted no time, riding Ye Sha as he flew towards Qin Qiu and the others.

Qin Qiu and the group naturally spotted Lu Fan and came forward to greet him.

Zhao Shengming even noticed that high in the sky, a Three Legged Fire Crow remained stationed, like a blazing Sun.

“Lu Fan, who is that person travelling with you up there!?” Although Zhao Shengming had an answer in his heart, seeing this Three Legged Fire Crow still left him profoundly shaken, pointing tremblingly at Jin Zhan in mid-air.

“That’s Jin Zhan, the Supreme Commander of the frontlines.” Lu Fan replied casually.

Just this one sentence made Zhao Shengming’s body tremble, his voice filled with incredulous excitement: “He… he’s really Jin Zhan?! My God, I never thought I’d live to see such a great figure…”

Nearby, Jian Ying saw Zhao Shengming’s loss of composure and asked puzzledly. “Vice Principal Zhao, is this person very famous?”

“More than just famous…” Zhao Shengming shook his head, his expression serious. “As students, you might not be fully aware. In Dragon Capital, there’s an open secret about Jin Zhan. He is the Grandson of one of Dragon Country’s Three Elders, Elder Jin. He possesses exceptional talent and is acclaimed as the most gifted youth in Dragon Country’s history!”

“I heard about his exploits over a decade ago. This person is extremely low-key. He’s always trained in the military, earning tremendous Military Merits, yet never boasted about it. Many people don’t even know his name. Only those in military circles have heard some tales about his achievements.”

Zhao Shengming’s gaze grew profound. “Actually, fifteen years ago, I was also in one of Dragon Country’s four ace military units. I was a member of the Disaster Legion, and I held the rank of Centurion.”

“You were from the Disaster Legion!?” Lu Fan and the other girls were somewhat surprised, having never expected Zhao Shengming to have such a background.

Zhao Shengming nodded. “Yes. In my youth, I devoted myself to military service, and later was selected to join the Disaster Legion. Fifteen years ago, I led my squad on a Mission, but we encountered a Map Mutation and got trapped inside that Map. Later, it was Jin Zhan, who happened to be executing a nearby Mission, who came to our rescue and saved us all.”

“What happened that day, I’ll never forget. This person was so young, yet already in his Fourth Profession. Moreover, he was facing Monsters above Level 100 and he showed no fear whatsoever, wielding a Dragon Spear and cutting through the Monster hordes with ease, rescuing us all.”

“When we learned he was barely in his twenties, we were all stunned. It was only later that we discovered he was Elder Jin’s Grandson, and then it all made sense. Elder Jin is our Dragon Country’s strongest expert. His Grandson’s Talent surpasses even his own. Such power at his age was actually quite normal.”

“Later, I left military service to become Vice Principal at Dragon Capital University. I only heard about military affairs from my old comrades-in-arms. Apparently, Jin Zhan’s strength progressed faster and faster. He’s already achieved a high position in the military, leading the Disaster Legion, with status second only to Tu Jing.”

“I heard that the Far North incident left Tu Jing severely injured, so he’s stepped back to backline duties. Now, Dragon Country’s military affairs are gradually falling to Jin Zhan. This man has the potential to become a second Tu Jing, or even a second Elder Jin. Though I’m older than Jin Zhan in years, in terms of strength, talent, and potential, I have no qualifications to be mentioned in the same breath as him.”

“I heard he’s also on the frontlines, often appearing personally to kill enemies, so I harboured some hope of meeting him again to see how far this young man has grown. I never expected this wish would actually come true, and that Jin Zhan would be so close to me.”

Zhao Shengming’s manner was clearly that of a fanboy meeting his idol.

This left Lu Fan both amused and exasperated, because age-wise, it would not be inappropriate for Jin Zhan to call Zhao Shengming ‘Uncle’.

Yet Zhao Shengming was actually so worshipful of Jin Zhan.

This also demonstrated from another angle that Jin Zhan truly was a Dragon among men. Otherwise, someone like Zhao Shengming, who was well-travelled and held the prestigious position of Dragon Capital University’s Vice Principal, would not regard him as an idol.

After Zhao Shengming finished his emotional reflection, he suddenly seemed to remember something and asked Lu Fan. “By the way, why has the Supreme Commander come here? Do you two already know each other?”

Lu Fan nodded. “Yes, we just met.”

“Earlier, while rescuing Holy Dragon University, I encountered him and we had a friendly chat.”

After a pause, Lu Fan spread his hands. “He said he found me displeasing and wanted to give me a beating but didn’t want to waste energy on me. So we arranged a wager. We’ll see who kills more Monsters in a bit.”

“But that is something that you all will not participate in. I just wanted to inform you of this matter and see whether you plan to return to the outpost or continue hunting Fallen Corpse Puppets here, under the protection of my Fallen Corpse Puppets.”
